Just experienced the end of ME3 yesterday ...

Well, what i expected as an "universe unite paragon with love for everyone" was an happy ending like in Star Wars 6, everyone is happy and party and fireworks and tears and my Shep survived, hobble across wreckage towards my teammates and get a huge hug by my love-interest ... and then like "years later" citadel "reopened", shep as the new ambassador for earth in udina's new furnished office (like on normandy; aquarium, the music, the ship-models, a bar like the lounge), Liara (love-interest) visits (with child), comm link to normandy to talk with commander williams, then walk around and visit the new embassies of the Geth, Krogan, Quarian and Batarian, meeting with Turian embassador Garrus for a drink and so on and whatever ...

... instead a child-ghost knows everything better, i die anyway, and ... i don't get it ... what's the point of three equal endings and each just sucks ... i know, my described vision is very cliched ...

welcome, and you are not alone.

Hold the line!!!

East coast coming online. A quick view of the net reveals the world is slowly admitting that the endings suck. Will be interesting to see Bioware's reaction next week.

Can´t agree more. The only realy uplifting about this hole Ending is, that they realy let the Backdoor open for the hole "it was just a dream" issue. I just started my second playthrough and i you really look for hints, you will find them. (first talk with vega on the citadell: "this whole place is just an illusion" and so on) Lets hope Bioware uses it.

Problem I find with the whole "It was just a dream" theory is that it's trite and smacks of a complete lack of imagination on the part of those who have previously shown a considerable amount.

I don't like it either, it seems to hint that what we did at that part just didn't matter. I would really just want the ending remade, I think up to sitting down with Anderson i fine. But after that have an ending where Shepard does activate the crucible and then has a big fight with Harbinger or run down the length of the citadel and jump on the Normandy at the last second as Shepard is prone to do.

Image IPB  Casey Hudson Responds - Defending Endings - SIGH

Bioware Director Casey Hudson has responded to enraged fans that have criticised the game's endings and day-one DLC. In an interview with Digital Trends, Hudson responds "I didn't want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating what the endings mean and what's going to happen next, and what situation are the characters left in.

"That to me is part of what's exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery there and a little bit of interpretation, and it's a story that people can talk about after the fact."

Particularly aggrieved fans have launched a campaign to get theMass Effect 3 ending changed. There is even a Retake Mass Effect movement which is raising funds for the Child's Play Charity, in the hope of being taken seriously by Bioware. So far they have raised over $29,000. Their mission statement reads "We would like to dispel the perception that we are angry or entitled. We simply wish to express our hope that there could be a different direction for a series we have all grown to love."

When asked if Bioware listen to feedback, Hudson said, "We pay very close attention to it. It's very important to us and we will always listen to feedback, interpret it and try and do the right thing by our fans."

Hudson went on to promise fans single-player DLC, and that fan feedback will shape its content: "We have some really great multiplayer content and some really great single-player content coming over the air, (fan) feedback will become part of how we design that."

Regarding the From Ashes DLC, Hudson thinks fans are starting to see "common sense". "Initially, it was spun in a direction that suggested that we had taken the lore out of Mass Effect 3," he said. "Now the people who actually have played Mass Effect 3 and the DLC they know that that's not true."

And yes, I was also very disappointed for all the fore-mentioned reasons.

Maybe Casey was given a different game, because I still can't find the true endings to the game. It just suddenly ends...

I just finished ME3 last night after having to force myself to do it and that had to be the worst trolling ever by a developer, because I can't think of a better reason other than they wanted to kill any possible connection if they decided to continue ME universe (somehow).

The whole, choose option 1 (bad), option 2 (worse), option 3 ( even more) was just ridiculous and devoid of any closure or hope and had nothing to do with any choices made in any of the ME games whatsoever.
Was there a point to doing any of the side missions in 3 or even playing ME1/2? Somehow I don't think so after that ending.

Still disagree with the people saying it's better to leave it alone because of the downsides of changing it. The ending is so bad that the aggravations of re immersing yourself would be acceptable as an opportunity cost to salvage the franchise. It's hard to accept the final conclusion.

Not very originell, indeed and it wont appeal to me why bioware did this. Maybe they did it to sell another dlc with the real endings, or they wanted to be really originell and not mainstream by ending this in a fashion they did, and just left some room to fix it if it really did not work. And nobody of us would be here if it has worked.

Have any of you read this brilliantly written article? It does a really good job of analyzing the ending while answering the haters and the lovers of the ME3 ending.

Still can´t believe what they did to this great series.

It makes me so sad.

I want a better ending. I want an ending where my char can live with his love and makes some real rescue to the universe.

Why did I save both Geth and Quarians, ended wars, helped where I could in all 3 parts, when the end is the same: all gone... ?

My thoughts exactly, the Rchni solution is bad as well. I think this was the quickest an cheapest solution.

The point is that you got a multi colored ending... You can have Blue, Red and even Green.. How cool is that??

By the way, welcome to the fight Slayer..

I still want to know how Udina became Concilor when I picked Anderson back in Mass Effect 1. And when I played ME2, anderson was the councilor, not Udina.... So, can someone please tell me what the hell happened?

Let's hold the line people.... Asian release is near... (and hopefully some Official statement too)

If BioWare think it's a 'conclusion' to end of the game, to see an ending based on the decisions constructed of  fantasies in the mind of a dying Shepard, they got another thing coming.

I don't know if that has been already posted:

just a neutral news, that we're doing the child's play charity and a petition.

Fantastic article.

That tweet that is mentioned about "not having all the facts" is getting more and more on my nerves every time I read it. I just paid full price for the damn game, if you're telling me even after that I don't have all the facts then WHY don't I have all the facts? The full game should be included with the disc. Period.

It IS frustrating. How could we be expected not to react? We thought we were done. We read the last page. We closed the book. Where was the cue that was supposed to tell us to suspend judgment until we had "all the facts?" How could we not have thought we already had them???

Should be a fourth option to use paragon [Reason] or renegade [Refuse] at the dialouge wheel. It could be easily integrated and would only be available if your repuation is maxed out. They won't have to rewrite the endings just create a new one where the child sees Shepard side and agrees finally to recall the reapers to dark space.

Well, at first, I apologize in adavance for my bad English, i hope I can bring my thoughts into a readable form.

Actually ME 3 is a really phantastic game, (almost) everything is done well, ineteresting quests, great characters, excellent graphics and sound, good gameplay and a well-done enemy AI, a world rich of details and on top of that just a few minor bugs and glitches - truly a masterpiece!

And then you get to the ending of the game...

Dear god...

...

Long story short: While the credits were rolling, I could feel the slow, agonizing death of my inner child.
Completely void of logic, abysmally bad writing, oviously copied from Deus Ex, in actualitiy ignoring EACH & EVERY of my decisions I made during the complete saga, BioWare manages not only downgrading but completely ruining a 100 hour space epos within a 5 minute cutscene.

Aboriginal I intended, after my first paragon-playtrough, to play this game again as a renegade and enjoy different romances, but after this ending (I am deliberatley using the singular here) I am not even able to start the game anymore.
100 hours of playtime, just to pick a different colour for the explosions in the last cutscene? No, thanks!

For casual gamers who are more interested in general gameplay/multiplayer and don't care too much about the storyline, or for players new to the series, who have never played ME 1 & 2, this might be an acceptable game. But for me, this is easily the biggest disappointment I experienced within my 22 years as an active gamer.
(And that's from a guy who owns the full version of Black&White and the full
version of Daikatana :-/ )

Be careful about assuming you are in the majority, just because you see a lot of voices that agree doesn't automatically imply that all unheard voices agree.

Again Shep failed he either died or was turned. They will make a mass effect mmo and make it **** like swtor. Greed has gotten them they will NEVER make another good game again. Why get paid only 60 when you can get 60 plus 15 a month. No reapers no mmo. So they gave you ****ty dreams as to mass effect 3 ending. Only way this new greed trend stops. You stop giving them money. Next game/mmo they make DO not buy/play it. Then when they go under maybe they will say hmm perhaps this isn't a good model......

'final fantasy XIII-2 dlc ending' this could have given EA some Idea's in to making more profit of the large ME community. To be honest if there is a dlc comming to make sense of all this, i will not hesitate to pay for it.
