BTW i think this movement has already scored a huuuge victory.
Maybe BW/EA intended a polarized ending and expected this in some form. Because they knew it would give the game even more attention (Bad press = still press)
But it works both ways. The fact that prominent game critics and magazines are reporting about us and actually "take sides" in the issue is amazing! Regardless of wether they like us or hate us. It's attention to the cause.
EA just can't be happy about that.
Hold The Line!
Not just game critics, business critics as well. At least 2 reporters at Forbes have been looking into this.

If they do not give us better options (dlc) for the ending, than it looks bad for EA if they counting on making money out of future dlc's.
Also if this is bioware's way to prepare us for a new chapter in ME universe by ending a great trilogy like this is unacceptable.
It's not ending the trilogy, it's killing it.
And if mister hudson stands by "his" ending.
Than clearly Bioware made the game for themselves and not for the fans.
I hope this "the truht dlc" rumor is real and i can apologize to Bioware for all my comments.
If it true don't apologize, make sure they understand this kind of marketing stunt is totes uncool.

Look, any expert storyteller will tell you that the most important 10 minutes of any story, of any considerable length, are the first five minutes, and the last five minutes. Everything in between is filler. In novels, you need that opening paragraph to be gripping enough to reel in the audience for the ride. In a game, that tutorial mission better have something that gets players going. And then, you'd better wrap it up neatly.
Bioware could've written the most amazing story since the Bible, and capped it off as they did, and we would rail about it, maybe even moreso, because no matter the middle, the last 5 minutes are what people will walk away singing.
They should have considered this when writing.
So true. And all great, timeless stories, regardless of
medium, meet that criterion. If it doesn’t… you’ll know. That is, if you’re
able to critically evaluate yourself as a writer. And are absent an unfavorable
degree of egocentrism, but some are more capable of that than others.

Perhaps it wasn't marketing, "the leak" says that this dlc was a reaction to the leaked script from November, since ME3 was already pushed to March at that point how would it look if they pushed it back again to geth The Truth out on time. If it truly is them fixing the ending based on Fan reactions to the leaked script then I can get over it

Lol, oh well. It's not selfish, by the way: it's self-defeating. But. You may feel differently once some time has passed and the anxious OMG FIX IT NAO has passed, I definitely felt the same way as the credits rolled.TSC_1 wrote...

So read about the story. Are you looking forward to this happening with more games? Do you want to experience this every time you play a game? No? Then find just a smidgen of willpower now. It will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.
Can't do it. If it were anything but Mass Effect, sure. But I can't do it. Not for this. I recognize that it's selfish and stupid... but I just can't.
Or you may not, and buy it. If enough people buy it so EA decides it's profitable and keeps it up, well, the people will have spoken. I'll find it a bit sad, but that's everyone's free choice. I should probably go outside more anyway

If that free DLC turns out to be true and Bioware admits it, then I'll consider it a win.
It will truly be a win. But not a complete win. Sorry to say that again, but it´s very, very important that something like this doesn´t happen again. Bioware should acknowledge that as a strategy that, at first, they thought the fans would like (as a surprise), bu then realized it´s wrong and will not repeat it. So that doesn´t create a trend.
It´s a stunt. And takes away from the real issue: you sell a full game, and it must have a perfect ending in it. You can´t sell part or a product, and then complement it. Not unless you sold it telling that would happen.
It doesn´t matter if the DLC is free (would be just fair). DLCs should only be side things on a complete campaign. If this starts a trend, it will be terrible.
And there´s always the question about the person who buys the game, but doesn´t have a good connection, or doesn´t look into it to find out more.

If they introduced a DLC with alternate ending and then charged the customer for it, it would become the next textbook example of "How to Completely Destroy Brand Loyalty 101". It's like going to a restaurant and the chef gave you a bad burger and then wanted to charge you extra for rejecting the bad burger. People might be willing to pay $10 so they feel better about the ending, but those same people will never ever buy from Bioware again. Making your customer feel cheated is the surefire way to insure that the customer will never pay anything else from you ever again.Cybermortis wrote...

But the guy I was replying to stated EA's share went from $50 to what it is now which was simply a lie and spreading mis-information.
That was not exactly a lie, since EAs stocks dropped that hard in 2008 due to the financial crisis at this time, maybe he just made a mistake by using this numbers, so don't be too harsh on him, I don't think he did this on purpose.
Quote correct, I was in fact going off the figures that were listed on the stock-chart I linked to. This indicated that the highest price in the last 52 weeks was around $50 - I'd guess that this figure was probably around the time the MMO was released. (I can't imagine the share price being all that high after Dragon Age 2 was released)
The figures for the last two weeks or so indicate a starting figure around 17, rising to just over 25 on the day ME3 was released in the US. The figure fell to below 20 after three days - the same point where people were starting to finish the game. The figure jumped back above 25 when ME3 was released in Europe...only to fall again to between 16-17 over the next several days.
It can't be coincidence that the increase in stock prices appear at the exact time the game was released, and fall at the same time people were starting to finish the game and voice their displeasure. After all Mass Effect is/was Biowares main title and one of the most anticipated games of the year. By rights the stock price should not have fallen this far this fast if the game was doing well or expected to continue to sell. The only logical conclusion is that the reaction to ME3 has resulted in a lack of confidence in EA and its titles from investors, and that lack of confidence can only have come from the complains made by the gamers and the effects they must be having on sales.
Worse is that by not doing or saying anything BW/EA is only going to make this worse.
If EA/BW do nothing then they will have alienated a rather large chunk of their customer base. The same holds if they do produce an DLC to change the ending and charge for it. In both cases future sales are going to suffer badly, and investors are smart enough to realise this. Forbes said much the same thing in one of their articles yesterday, noting that the only way to salvage the situation in both the short and long term is to do exactly what we have been asking for, and make it a free DLC.
If they released an endings DLC and charged for it they would be commiting fraud.

You are absolutely correct about that, but I would like to add that even if BioWare comes up with the "best" possible solution for this dilemma, new endings via free DLC, this would still have a bad taste for me.
Why would I, a customer who paid the full price for this game, have to wait several weeks or even months for an acceptable ending?
(I took off the whole week from work so I could enjoy ME 3 and what am I doing instead? Playing Team Fortress 2, great!)
Why doesn't BioWare react to our complaints, not even with a short statement?
What about the gamers that don't have an internet connection that would allow them do download said DLC?
Lets be honest, this is just a gigantic mess and all BioWare and EA can do now is minimize the damage...
