So we can't get the ending we want after all?

Strongly disagree. I've read some of the earliest examples of spec fic from the 20s on up. Also, Larry Niven is "hard science fiction." Space Magic is the exact opposite of Hard SciFi. So he gets the term completely wrong... sorry, Tycho. But, like I said before: his points about the "sacrosanct nature" are spot-on.
See, that's the thing - he disagrees with us, but understands where we're coming from. He isn't rude or biased. He even calls the "artistic integrity" people out, because it's a terrible argument.
So, while I disagree with him about the quality of the ending, I think this is a positive write-up for us. It's certainly civil and honest.

1st group: The collector's base is saved
2nd group: Destroyed the base (also counts for ME3 without Me2 import)
Each group has 8 endings.
However this does not give 16 different discriptions of the endings.
The endings are shown in order of the Readiness Rating.
Example: If collector's base was saved
RR at 4000 you destroy the reapers and saved anderson(shoot illusive man) shepard lives(under the rubble).
RR at 5000 you destroy the reapers and did not save anderson shepard lives.
Stay the same if collecter's base was destroyed.
So maybe that explains Bioware's claim of 16 different endings. <_<
What a ripp off!!!

I take this as a good sign that they are working on single player stuff. Plus I don't think the game is even released worldwide yet so they have to keep us in the dark in terms of plans so not to ruin it for those in Asia etc.

Honestly the terrible ending has forced me to create an alternate ending. I don't exactly love it, but I think it helps bring to more of a series closure.
First off, change Crucible from a kid with a speech impediment to an VI orb. It doesn't control the Reapers, but it does show you your path. The Reapers are there to keep dominate species from growing out of control, allowing new life to advance until it begins to become a danger. Shepherd, being partly synthetic, is the key to stopping the Reapers so he is the Crucible. Based on how you played the game...
1. FAILURE OPTION - low of p/r score, low ems:
Anderson dies. Shepherd is told the only way to stop the Reapers is to attempt to have his consciousness uploaded to the Reapers as a kind of virus to overwrite their programming. The attempt fails, Shepherd-virus is
deleted and we're given a cut scene of Earth and the resistance being wiped out.
2. 3500-4000 EMF, up to 99% P/R score:
A) Paragon ending. TIM and Anderson dies. Shepherd sacrifices himself to control the Reapers, succeeds. Flies the Reapers and Citadel into the sun to end the cycle once and for all. he dies.
B. Renegade. Tim and Anderson dies. Shepherd destroys the Citadel, the resulting emp wipes out the Reapers, causes the mass effect relays to self destruct, and kills all life in the Sol system and any solar system that has a relay. He dies.
3. Over 4000 EMS, 100% P/R
A. Paragon. TIM dies, Anderson lives. Shepherd takes control of the Reapers and shuts them down allowing the fleets to blow them to ****. He lives, but burns out his cybernetic implants becoming fully human again. Happy ending for all.
B. Renegade. Anderson lives. Shepherd takes control of the Reapers and uses them to wipe out all the aliens. Anderson tries to stop him but hold on, The Illusive Man is alive! He kills Anderson, he and Shepherd team up to make humanity the dominant life in the galaxy, mirroring the Protheans.
This does allow the Mass Effect future to remain uncertain since the cycle is now over, but Shepherds story is done.

According to this article from The Vine (which is actually good), it seems Bioware is trolling us. Just take a look as some questions asked:
User 1: "I still want to believe you guys are sneaky trolls and have something going on you don't tell us yet. Can I get a cryptic reply?"
@masseffect: "The sun, it shines. www.youtube.com/watch"
User 2: "You are either a massive sadist or a beacon of hope."
@masseffect: "Can't it be both?"
User 3: "I kinda feel lost after that ending...not what I expected and left me feeling everything done was for nothing."
@masseffect: "We know it's a lot to take in! But hang in there. Your decisions matter."
User 4: "Are you holding something back, that could quell the large amount of frustration from the community, a tiny hint would be enough."
@masseffect: "Mike Gamble already said on his twitter, if the fans knew what was in store, the reaction would be different."
User 5: "I loved 98% of ME3..but something has to be up w/ ending..too much talent at BW for that business. Keep my saves?"
@masseffect: "We're keeping our saves, that's for sure."
User 6: "Fans are people too. Playing with their minds isn't that nice as it may look like to people from Bioware."
@masseffect: "We're not playing with anyone's minds, we are answering what questions we can and recording what feedback we receive."
User 7: "Its not that the ending was taken in the wrong direction its that it makes NO SENSE. Ashley was on the Normandy? she [was] with me."
@masseffect: "Probably a good thing to be cautious of."
User 8: "Do y'all have any ETA when more news will be released? Dying for news on a new ending/DLC."
@masseffect: "No ETA yet, but you will be updated via Facebook and Twitter when the news is available."
And if that wasn't enough..User 1 -Well, i think i'll stop naggin you and trying to get you to talk about the indoctrination theory.
Good game though!
Merizan - I want people to make up their own minds right now, then when more people have played we'll talk
User 2 - then I want to SEE that he was lying. I want to get up and finish the fight with Commander Shepard. Then retire.
Merizan - augh. want. to. discuss! Staying spoiler free for now
User 3 - But should've confronted the kid instead. Shep went meekly into the night.
Merizan - are you sure he went meekly into the night?
One thing is to pull a PR stunt, another it to threat each and every one of us as if we were morons....
I will hold the line, but honestly, I am sick of Bioware/EA right now...
It is seeming more and more likely every hour that this is just one hell of a PR stunt and they are keeping an ending DLC hidden somewhere. Hopefully Bioware can recover from it because I think it has gone further than they planned.
Holding the line.

So let's keep it civil so not to wast our historic effort people! Thats right, Historic effort people!

16 endings according to ME3 CE GUIDE page 323.They divided in two groups IF you imported a ME2 character.
1st group: The collector's base is saved
2nd group: Destroyed the base (also counts for ME3 without Me2 import)
Each group has 8 endings.
However this does not give 16 different discriptions of the endings.

What a ripp off!!!
Can't.... save.... Collector.... Base.... Hate.... TIM.... soooooo..... much. And for good reason as it turned out in ME3.
No, seriously, these differences between the endings seem to be largely mathematical with little impact on what the players de facto get in terms of story.
