He was civil but the only plothole he acknowledges is the mass relay one.  That to be quite honest, is not the one that causes me the most discomfort.  The Normandy thing and Anderson being ahead of Shep on the Citadel really bother me.

Does he ignore the 'HUGE BIG ALIEN ARMADA STRANDED' plot hole?

I mean, seriously. In every 'ending', the galaxy is doomed and your efforts throughout the whole freaking trilogy are for naught.

Another tidbit for thought. If I double posted sorry.

Here's what Amazon is selling ME3 for.  Besides the cost, note the reviews.

Wow - 2 stars. That's gotta hurt. (not many reviews yet, though...)

What's dam sad was that a lot of the game had oscar worthy material, Thanes death was how it should have happened, Mordin's death was perfectly fitting and the dialouge was worthy of an award. When Legion died (rallying the geth and quarians btw) I cried because it was so powerful. These cutscenes and the way this game played out before the ending was just a beautiful work of art. Had the ending been much better and the way we wanted to shape our own endings it would have been one of the best RPG's made and a perfect ending to an amazing 5 year long Trilogy.

Sadly this didn't happen, once that ending came...the last 15-20 minutes of the game took our choices spit on them, set them on fire, and left it to rot in a ditch.

Admittedly I wanted and worked hard to get a happy ending where Shepard survived, the crucible fired killed all the reapers, and the Normandy with it's crew gracefully came in and saved Shepard (hell maybe end Anderson under the right circumstances.). And then have him a living legend where He has kids (with who ever his LI was), and has settled down.

Granted that shouldn't be the only ending, but with the way I played it I expected it to end for the better. Instead we got a Deus ex Reaper space god child wizard ghost who tells us we only get options Red, Blue, or Green.

That was a very major let down for me, hell it's worse than Kane and Lynch 2's horrible ending.

When did Bioware stop caring about the fanbase and focused on getting money from us while essentially calling us stupid? Answer...EA

Gabe was nice, but he proves my point with his comments that's a little more then unsophisticated in his thinking.

He basically admits ME is a throw away to him :-/. Obviously others feel different, I appreciate his civility though.

Everyone I've told about how this series ends has given me a face like (o.O;)

I don't think we are being unreasonable in expressing our disappointment on how such a great series of games "ended". Like many others in this thread (I have been monitoring it for over a week now), I too felt a complete detachment from the game as soon as I was confronted with the final minutes of the game. When the choices were presented to me by the Catalyst child-god-reaper king thing, I paused.. I didn't know what to do or think. I took so long mulling over what I would do that I got a game over message saying that the crucible had been destroyed!

I finally made my choice and then expected to see an epilogue. Some telling of how the future would be because of my sacrifice. There was none. A silly scene where my cowardly crew was caught dashing away between relays and became stranded on a beautiful backward planet left me with more questions. When the credits rolled, I could hardly move a muscle. I sat and I stared at my screen, waiting for the credits to end. They finally ended, and Buzz Aldrin regaled a young child about The Shepard. A message came up saying I could continue to play on my character and do DLC as they are released, and that was that.

I can't describe the feelings that I had when I realized that the ending was over. I felt empty. The ending left me with no resolution, or closure. I sat in shock, staring at the galaxy map.

I am so glad that I was not alone in my experience. This thread has helped me get passed the failures of the last ten minutes of the game. I bought it at the midnight release on the 6th, and played it straight through 6th and into the 7th until I beat it. The game was so great, so moving, and I was enjoying it.. Until the end, when I was let down in a most spectacular way.

Thank you for listening,
~DeathsAudit

Poll on Gamestar about the ending from ME3: (in german)

You can find it on the right side, beneath a picture of Shepard. Loosely translated:

UMFRAGE (Poll)

Sehr gut, genau was ich mir erhofft hatte.  (Very good, exactly what I hoped for.)

Anders als erwartet, aber gut.  (Different, but good.)

War okay, hätte besser sein können.  (Was okay, could have been better.)

Bin eher enttäuscht.  (Rather disappointing.)

Dieses Ende hat die ganze Serie kaputt gemacht.  (The end destroyed the whole series.)

Seid ihr irre, ich bin noch lange nicht durch. (Are you nuts, I'm not finished by far.)

Gabe from Penny Arcade on the endings.

Doesn't make sense... a lot of his analysis relies on the presumption that ME3, in its entirety, is "the ending." 33% of a saga cannot constitute its end. I'll admit that the cut off point is somewhat arbitrary and I wouldn't presume to afix a definite figure to it, but a third of the story as the ending? Ehhh...

He also glosses over, proudly, the lore violations and the dropping of themes that were suddenly dropped and / or contradicted by the ending. So take that for what it is..

I thought it was established by now that the audiance/costumers have done that before? Even in books and movies, so why do so come many to the conclusion that we should just accept it

Apparantly it's the "Hip Thing to do."  There's a reason why authors report to editors.  Screen writers continually make changes  because the actors/producers don't like wwhat they did.  Speaking of movies, many movies when they make it to DVD/BluRay have "Alternate Endings."  You kno why there are Alternate endings?  The every day folks who get to pre-screen them before they are released don't like them.

Like I said, all they want is attention, clicks, etc. There was some 5 pages article which described how the end "makes" sense for that author. It was well written, but his conclusions made no sense for me.
And looking at almost 30 000 posts in this topic, I am definitely not the only one...

I love that - although I have more of feeling this is EAs fault and not Biowares. Maybe it's both I don't know.

Actually I think one of the Bioware heads chimed in somewhere (not this thread) and said that EA had basically nothing to do with how the ending turned out and that we need to quit bashing them.

The comparison of books and movies in this scenario are totally inappropriate. Books and movies are NOT interactive mediums. As an author, I don't invite my readers to make choices that will impact the storyline. I promise them entertainment. Sometimes they won't like my storytelling, worldbuilding or characterization. And trust me, I hear about it. But at base, they may spend eight hours reading my book, depending on its length and their reading speed. That is in no way comparable to the hundreds of hours some gamers have invested, perfecting their Shepards and their playthroughs. Bioware has said, repeatedly, that our choices matter -- that we are helping build this story.

Except according to the endings, this isn't true. I feel it's perfectly reasonable to ask for a justification of why those promises were broken and why they've broken trust with the fanbase. You don't do that if you want to retain them.

Word.  How the hell will the quarians and turians live on Earth? It's not exactly like they have a limitless supply of food on their ships.  Also with the krogan: did females come with to fight? Are there any males left behind on Tuchunka?  Makes zero sense to have those endings to save organic life only to doom it anyway.

Listening to the Mass Effect Theme now. Jack Wall did such a brilliant job with the ME1 and ME2 soundtracks. I didn't think ME3's music was bad but I much prefer Wall to Clint Mansell.

Glad I'm not the only on man! Mansell did an amazing job but songs like Therum, Ilos ( fighting theme) and the Virmire battle theme are just so amazing.

I especially love Therum <3

Listening to Suicide Mission right now... every time I hear it I can see the cutscenes from ME2 play out... with my characters picking each other up, Shepard leaping onto the Normandy, and everyone surviving. That ending is one of the best I've ever seen in a game. And ME3's was definitely the worst. What a difference a few years makes.

Couldn't agree more! The ME1 and ME2 endings were so inspiring and uplifting. That smirk on Shep's face when she tells the Illusive man to stick it? Priceless. For me thats what this game has been about; standing together against the odds etc. If just *one* of the endings had ended on a high note like ME2 I would have been SO happy!
