I am a born pessimist so normally i'd have no hope for anything more. However, I too thought this. Bioware makes a point of having excellent writing with good consistency. To take a crew member that was with Shep in London and then have them magically appear on the crashed Normandy is the largest plot hole ever. Its just not like them to make sure a huge mistake...

Completely, agree with you in all likelihood.. though the reversed aspect is interesting... I mean it could be that Shepard is hallucinating, seeing stuff in his mind only so it's not reversed... (Get ready for way out in left field here).  Your brain flips the image in your eyes naturally.. so something purely in your head could not be flipped

I just think since the ending was written in a very short timespan, they had no time to model these ending stuff so well, aswell as creating extra textures...
