So we can't get the ending we want after all?

For those clinging to the hope that the spoilers must be fake because if the Mass relays blow, it'll wipe out the entire solar system...

They don't blow up like in Arrival. It's some kind of Prothean space magic that causes them to burn out, but they don't explode in the way we've seen.

...EDI is destroyed becuase she's based on Reaper technology, the Geth are all killed even though they aren't based on Reaper technology...

EDIT: Okay, EDI only survives if you pick the Merge/Synergy ending.

I don't know what to think of this.
The ultimate paragon-ending I mean.

The Geth are destroyed?
Why implementing a peace-option for geth and quarians, if it leads to the geth dying?
Fanservice to bomb everything down?

EDI is destroyed because she is based on Reaper-Tech? So...Shepard, whose renegade-face is remarkable similar to that of someone modified by reaper-tech survives it?
We ought to believe, Cerberus did not use tech, based on reaper-stuff to bring Shepard back?

The more I hear, the more unlikely the spoilers appear to me.
-Genophage-free Krogans. (Almost anybody here played the demo)
-Turians, Salarians, Krogans fighting together. (Mordin mentions something like that in the demo)
-Geth and Quarians are able to unite in peace.
-Quarians may even get their homeworld back.
-The Turian councilor no longer dismissing the claim. (Exclusive G4 Palaven-Moon-gameplay)
(Everything you could hope for as a paragon-shep)

Then 'Boom!' tear it all down at the end? Putting all these efforts into creating story-content to satisfy a player, then crushing it?
Crushing it to the extend, that the whole me-universe as it is known is torn apart?
The universe, that is one of the most successful franchises in EA's wallet?

Even story-wise, to have a blank page to start with, I don't know which marketing-suit would give his/her ok to that?
Half of the costumers(or even more) so disappointed with the end of the trilogy, that a further interest in the franchise is unlikely?

At first I approved of the leaked endings, but now I've decided that I need to see them firsthand before rendering judgement.

Oh well, at least we still have BioShock Infinite and a theoretical Witcher 3 should push come to shove.

This is bad the SR 2 gets destroyed and the crew dies and Shepard is locked up in the citadel

I am getting a bad DA2 feeling now. They started putting up damage control posts, and now have installed the anti flame shield. Man what happened to Bioware?

I'm questioning the logic of Bioware putting up a new CoC rule that essentially grants them a "get out of fan-rage free" card, yet they haven't actually addressed the concerns of the people on this thread.

Surely they see that it looks like they're doing damage control rather than just shoring up the rules of conduct (something which, quite frankly, you'd think they would've had clearly established already and would not need to remind everyone of).

Reminds me of when the writers of Who's The Boss decided to go with a gutsy artistic ending to completely surprise their viewers, and had the long awaited marriage proposal shot down ending a funny show on such a sour note that it is probably the most loathed sitcom ending of all time... this is like that.

You are escapist entertainment. You are not a Russian novel. What works sometimes (and ONLY sometimes) for a great literary work where the audience is a captive listener to your story DOES NOT DO WELL when you need the audience to have a feeling of control and personal investment for the medium you use to tell your story to even work.

Look at this: its descibed that shepard can survive the destroy the reapers option and earth to be okay. that means the relays are not destoryed cause that will catch earth in a supernova or whatsitcalled.. isnt that a good ending ?. and normany has a distress beacon and if the relays are ok its probably just to search and rescue
its sets up for it to be possible both the leaked script and this
http://pastebin.ca/2122325

Wait...thats right. If we have an ending with shepard on earth...that means the relays aren't destoyed thus there is hope for future spacefaring civilization.

Oh man~ Stop giving me hope....

Hate to hurst your bubble, but Shepard ends up on Earth after the Citadel appears right next to the earth and Shepard goes there to make his decision.

Are you? Are you seriously..
They actually..?

Oh dear.

Yeah. I'm dead serious. The Citadel appears near Earth during the big battle. Jesus Shepard ascends to fulfill his destiny of stopping the reapers and no matter the choice, the Normandy is somehow near the Charon Relay and ends up in bufu-Egypt.

I was trying to avoid these spoilers, I'm damned glad I didn't now. I genuinly believe that Biowares writers haven't just dropped the ball, but kicked it onto the motorway.
This is... wow. I would say that I wouldn't be able to write better but at this stage? I'm genuinly convinced I could've done the entire teams job for them... this is horrible.

Yeah I've read all of the ending spoilers but............no worries....I resigned myself that the best possible ending is to save as much as I can, have Shep sacrifice herself, and now my goal is either to save my Normandy crew or die together with them....

All this jazz about landing in a "Jurassic Park" like planet, ain't flying for me......so I'm just getting ready for the worst to be honest~

You know what? Aside from the endings, to which I am neutral on until I see them myself, literally everything in ME3 has be bubbling with excitement. The new Normandy is just... so much better it's amazing. Liara's quarters... technogasm. War room... awesome. everything... awesome. The music... awesome. The gameplay... awesome.

Hell, I think that Mac Walters may actually be on to something. Although the inherent idea that the endings don't matter and that it's the journey that counts is stupid and that a good ending to a good journey can make an experience far better than one consisting of a good journey, I can easily see why he would say that the journey is what matters because, in ME3, the journey is going to be ****ing awesome.

We also must consider that the founders of BioWare have played and loved it. We know that the German gaming review site named it the best Mass Effect yet. Yes, the endings could disappoint, but holy hell up until that point is going to be sweet.

Tough job to be a moderator about now - having said that it does appear BW is in full damage control as of now. No doubt this thread has gotten BW's attention big time! Otherwise why full damage control mode?

damn. im considering canseling my preorder and mentaly depress any memory of me3 and let shepard story end with me2. I realy realy hope ther is a ending where the galaxy prevails over the reapers and no destruction of the citadel or mass relays are recuiered.

and why cant the fleet take down the reapers since the most of the ships now have reaper weaponary (thanix cannon)

You'd expect the founders to say "meh, it wasn't that good"?
And reviews online or not can be "persuaded".

But yeah, have to experience for ourselves how it goes. Even though the ending has to be so sour.

EA don't seem to understand people all that well. Or, atleast the people who are dedicated to their games.

In terms of the endings, does anyone else feel like Bioware specifically pandered to the new arrivals to the series? I mean, think about it. A person just getting into the Mass Effect series would not have a significant attachment to any of the characters, and as such an ending like the rumored ones might feel right. They've not heard time and again that the Reapers can be stopped and will be stopped. All they've got at the beginning is a destroyed Earth. A seemingly hopeless situation from the very start.

I predicted that this topic will reach 100 page by the end of the day...Looks like it'll reach 150 instead.  And the fact the new CoC has been put up is enough for me to start worrying. Image IPB

There's only six days left till ME3 arrives and already its starting to look very bad for Bioware.  I don't want to be here next week, that's for sure.
