What 17 endings? Are they referring to the normandy's crash landing and different squad mates walking out of the Normandy? That doesn't count.

when different colours count then squadmates count just as much

If we had as many squad mates as ME2 i imagine we would have 70 different endings.

Don't get me wrong, I do feel sorry for Bioware in a sense. I have always loved their games, and still call myself a Bioware fan.

But ME3's endings are the video game equivalent of date rape. It happens, then you sob uncontrollably for extended periods of time, getting more and more depressed the longer it goes on.

 finally found out how
to reach requirements to post, anyway

I want to share my experience with Mass Effect 3.

I LOVED the experience it gave me, the choices from previous games were making an impact.

In my game, mordin legion and thane die, but I didn't regret those decisions, I expected them.

Since I took a all paragon save into ME3 I knew this would happen. I knew I couldn't have everyone from the previous games survive, but the executed it brilliantly and I admit I shed a tear on all those scenes.
that is what I LOVED about Mass Effect 3.

Then comes the endings.... I
guess I was in the Process http://www.escapistm...t-3-The-Process

So without knowledge I chose the "green" synth ending after an hour of contemplating, but after the final scenes rolled I still felt unsatisfied so I tried the "red" destroy ending .

Again I was left gut wrenched after I saw an almost identical cut scene with no closure as to what your actions accomplished.

and don't even get me started on Tali's "unmasking" at least I can forgive that and that's not what this is about

I am sharing this because now I know I'm not alone on this when I thought I was, before discovering this massive movement. Keep fighting the good fight

and while I sit waiting in hope for any news, I'll be taking Dr Chakwas on her offer and drink my Serrice Ice Brandy through my Emergency Induction Port

and as always: HOLD THE LINE

EDIT: word format

I don't know if this hints at an ending DLC or if it means I have to punch ME3's director in the face now

Well, I just thought of a way to expand upon the endings almost indefinitely. Just open up the control panel for your video card, screw around with the color settings and watch an ending video on youtube. That way, you can get millions of endings with a 32 bit color palette! Pure genius I tell you!

Meh. Anyway, good night folks. This German trooper is gonna get some sleep so I can hold that line with you guys a little more tomorrow.

All three endings are presented by the three primary colors...combination?

No, you just wear tinted glasses and change then quickly. Bingo! All of the endings at once.

Still holding the line, slumped over the bar in purgatory, spewing barely swallowed Serrice Ice Brandy over my Collector pants and crying to anyone in earshot how I'll never see Miranda again because of a 4 year old boy who's face I want to melt.

Blaaaaargh.

Right next to me, slamming down ryncols and blabbering incoherently about some dude named Kaidan and the end of the universe and how the krogans are gonna resort to eating everyone... all because of the Starchild. T__T

*cries on your shoulder*

A toast. To Emily Wong!

Huh.

Seems they want to know if there was anything good about the ending at all. Bit of a different thing than they've been asking up until now.

ME 3 is a masterpiece except the last 5 minutes. I really hope that it will be changed.

The German Fleet is still holding the line!

German fleet is getting tired.

thats why we got comrades, to back us up when we need to rest, not beaming themselves out when it gets hard

The German rear-guard is still holding out, we're covering the rest of the fleet for as long as we can.

Rest if you need to and come back stronger in the morning. The American fleets are in full force and we've got your back. We will hold the line!

Don't worry Canadian Fleet is here!!;)

This is the SSV Dorset of the UK fleet. The troops are getting tired and need time to rest. Transfering command now. Keep holding the line for us.

This is SSV Weber of the North American Fleet moving into position, we are ready to give assistance where needed and hold the line..... for as long as it takes.

We nod gracefully and thank Bioware for showing some sense.

Then someone puts on a Joker voice and says 'We win, go pout'

Well obviously if we get our end we'll reference it in our inspirational speeches for generations to come. "Our influence made Garrus a LI, but before that we HELD THE LINE. Our Influence stoppered the ending's plotholes, but before that we HELD THE LINE"

Earth Presidential Speech - 1 March 2027 - President Bob of Earth stated today that he owes everything to holding the line back during the Mass Revolution.  "Without those days of standing up for what I thought was right and demanding the effort and level of quality that I knew the Gaming ministry, what was called Bioware back before they were globalized and funded by the military for future space training missions,  was capable of, I would not be where I am now.  I'd still be convinced that the colours of the rainbow were only red, blue and green.. there are so many more colours in the rainbow."

Critics point out that Bob was seen drinking copious amounts of rum right before the speech but can let it slide because "Well he's Bob.. everyone likes Bob.. and he was right about the Mass Revolution"

If you believe in quantum theory and the multi verse ideal the hole in cheese never goes away after being eaten you just can't see the cheese with the hole in it any more though it may or may not be there. *typed incredibly seriously*

I realize as I type this, nothing will come of it.  I know this is going to get lost in the 1000+ pages of angry posts, but I have to get this out.  I need to type this just to feel like I tried.

I did not like the Mass Effect 3 ending...yeah I know, big shocker.  At the end of the first two games, everytime, I felt satisfied by the end.  I felt like I had accomplished something amazing.  I felt GOOD.  Even if I knew that there was more to come, I still felt amazing.  For both 1 and 2, right after that first run through I would jump to the Main Menu and press New Game.  I felt like I could do it better, make better choices, get a better ending.  The ending made me happy, even if it wasnt always a good one, I KNEW I could get that one perfect ending if I tried a little bit harder.

Enter Mass Effect 3, amazing story, gameplay, and everything else that I love about the series.  I get to the end and the feeling I was expecting wasn't there.  I didn't feel good.  I felt confused, angry, irritated.  It made no sense.  I couldn't work it out.  What's worse is that I know that no matter how hard I try, no matter what tactics I use, I KNOW that there is no hope for my Shepard.  My choices are death or destruction.  It isn't fair.  I don't play games to feel angry or bitter.  I want to have a good time.  I want to feel amazing after I overcome the Monsters, but that doesn't happen at the end.  I feel like the choices I've made over the years lead to nothing.

I wanted to play through it again, I wanted to feel the way I did with 1 and 2, but I can't.  I don't feel the same sense of HOPE I did with the others.  I can't ever see myself playing through the entire series like I wanted to because I know that there is no hope for my Shepard and that makes me sad.

I don't believe you can fix this.  I don't believe you will even try.  The Single Player DLC that you will ship won't interest me, because I know in the end...it doesn't matter.  My Shep's story will always end poorly and I don't want that.

I get what you were trying to do.  I understand that you wanted an ending that people will talk about, that people will remember.  The thing is...I was always going to remember Mass Effect.  Just like I remember Star Wars.  It really was that good.  You have accomplished what you wanted, but not in the way you wanted.  Im going to remember the dissapointment.  Im going to remember being confused.  Im going to remember being angry.  Im going to remember that after years and years of build-up and hope...in the last five minutes, you failed.

I saw some of the Tweets, and am cautiously willing to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt. I just hope they realize the longer they wait the worse this will get, and the less forgiving.

All this "spoiler free" talk generates hope, but at the same time could be a time-buying tactic. I just want some way for a real ending with a final boss fight and Shepard reuniting with LI and crew.

All the "spoiler-free" talk just makes me angry. It insinuates that they had something up their sleeves to begin with, thus they knew they were giving us an incomplete product. Then on top of that, they used false advertising (promising our choices mattered) to get us to buy that incomplete product. That is just ****ing dirty business sense right there. And if their ace in the hole turns out to be DLC we have to pay for... well, that'll just be the nail in the coffin.

If there is some sort of "April Fool!" PR stunt being done here (and I agree there's evidence of it), the psychology of it is questionable at best:

"Hey - won't our fans LOVE it if we trick the hell out them so that they get REALLY upset, then tell them [insert whatever the truth is here]? That'll be AWESOME PR, won't it? They'll be SO EMBARRASSED!!! Then they'll laugh and say 'you got us good - you guys rock' and we'll all have a BIG PARTY!!!"

:wizard:... <_<

Exactly what I've been saying.  How can we make this clear to BWEA?  This will go down as a milestone... as one of the WORST business ideas ever conceived.  They're going to be eyerolling at this over at MIT and Wharton for years.  Forbes has been waving their hands in the air yelling "wtf are you guys thinking?!" all through this fiasco.

Customer trust is not something you play with like this.  Not if you want to keep it.  It's a losing investment: for every 10 points of trust you lose, you're going to need to do the work of 50 to get it back.

Sigh.

I don't know if I should feel insulted, angry or sad. Or a combination of those.

17 different endings that are exactly the same outcome. You are suprisingly buttsekksed no matter you like it or not.

"How many have you achieved?"

Can't believe they asked that question.

"Oh, yes, I replayed 1240 times with small incremental increases in readiness until I saw the Earth vaporized or not vaporized with three different color palettes. But that was with an ME2 import in which I had destroyed the Collector Base. So I went back to ME2, played through and DIDN'T destroy the Collector Base, then imported that game and played ME3 1240 MORE times to see the same things happen in the same three color palettes but at different levels of readiness. It was SO much fun!"
