So I briefly told a work friend a little about our situation because she caught me reading an article from one of the sites that expressed better than I can our grievances. She looked at me and said you know it's a game right?' And she didn't say it very nice it was a little condecending. I know why we're doing what we're doing. And I'm holding the line to the bitter end. Why did her remark sting so much?

"It's just a book." "It's just a movie." "It's just a game." Different people enjoy different mediums. So to us, it's not just a game. It's our interactive story. Where our choices were supposed to mean something. That's why it stings so much.

They will never understand how much it means to us. It's much more than a game to us, it's a community; a family. Look around you, we have friends from all walks and areas here. We sit and discuss and speculate and argue and laugh. That sounds like a family to me.

I could not agree more.

As a person raised in Japan...nah, they won't like it. They hated Neon Genesis Evangelion ending and it was kind of like ME3 ending.
Japanese people like to know what happened afterwards. Even their soap operas (or dramas, as they call them) have epilogues to them.

I just read some twitter stuff of biowares and it seems to suggest that there will be true ending dlc. And I guess if they release that and it makes sense this time, i'll buy it. But I also think that it's reprehensible to lable something as a complete and finalized product, only to state later that it isn't, here, buy the real ending! What about people without internet connections? Or limited ones? I know for the longest time I couldn't download any ME2 dlc because of horrible internet connection.

I just want an ending that makes sense and doesn't feel like a modern art show when put side by side :P

I guarantee I'll forgive and go back to being a happy Bioware customer for Dragon Age III, The Old Republic and whatever else they come out with if they do that.

Agreed.

I thought I was over it fr a second there, then I decided to have a listen to the Clint Mansell music again on youtube. I now have PTSD.

Will this pain never end?

this x1000:crying:

My friend, I know you mean no harm, and I know they were joking about it. But still...

It has been 6 days (and spare) since I finished the game. Even after all this time I haven't been able to even open the ME3 game windows again, I haven't been able to play any other game, and I really have been feeling depressed and gloomy. My friends have noticed (though none been a gamer couldn't know why), my coworks noticed as well, and there is just nothing I can do about it. Damn.. I even had nightmares, where I was the one running from the reaper near the light beam...

I know it's nowhere near real PTSD, but nevertheless, the psychological shock I suffered was way beyong anything I had expected, or een thought possible... I know it will go way, sooner or later (hope for sooner though), but to just let go of 1000+ hours played in the Mass Effect Universe, from reading all the comics, the news, and the excitment related to this last game, the antecipation, to be rewarded by a big middle finger and a FU, it just too much to handle at some moments.

Still, I am holding the line and waiting for Bioware to come clean with us...

Wow, and I thought I'd be the only one.. now I see similarities with you.
The first moment I saw that turian spectre Nihlus, a very intense moment. He was cold, ruthless, but badass at the same time. After that these blue skinned, female-human-alike aliens, which looked all the same when I first saw them. Up to a long romance with one of them, even promising little blue children to Liara.. Oh and did I mention to save the universe a few times? And then ending it in a multiflavoured spacemagic explosions which made no sense at all.
Currently I do not want to play any game at all..

I was asked today by three friends and my mother if something was wrong because I seemed off all week. I tried explaining and no one really understood, and quite frankly, it does sound pretty rediculous. Two of my other friends are in a similar situation.
It's not depression, its just a state of shock and disbelief.

BTW, First Post

They aren't stupid, have you seen the ending to Clannad? They added a whole episode to the end of the TV series, because they knew it would ****** everyone off.

I would be seriously surprised if they did.

Especially considering the incredibly diverse amount of people in this thread, and others, that are against the endings. Culture doesn't seem to be a barrier.

This demands the question of how. XD There are so delightfully many of us, from all over the world. Imagining this forum trying to gather is making me laugh so hard.

Nobody could understand people like us who havnt played mass effect... they dont know what its like to grow from strength to strength and game to game... developing relationships with characters and creating a life through this amazing game series... its like losing something important to you.... no one could unerstand why we feel this way. Its our story... our shepard and our individual destinys... it connects us all, fans of mass effect.

Exactly, we put a ton of time into the series even if you only did one playthrough. We met characters we liked and shaped a universe that felt REAL when we were playing this. When we had to chose whether or not characters lived or died they weren't just a statistic, they were our friends which is why we took the responsability of guiding them seriously. We genuinely cared about the characters and races in this galaxy which is a great achievement on bioware's part.

At the end we were simply told "Well due to faulty logic you have three 'choices', all of which result in most of this galaxy getting completely decimated and causing the death of billions".

The more I look at the indoctrination theory and the rumors of the "The Truth" DLC, and the tweets of MASS EFFECT the more I think we have been trolled by Bioware. I wish they would finally admit it!

Yea, but they like complete and comprehensible endings to their games/series... many of them are tragic (Chrno Cross, Elfen Lied, etc.)... but they are saldom full of plotholes, and always very fleshed out.

I don't know where Bioware got the 17th ending from. Wasn't it "only" 16 endings until like...yesterday? And we could barely find 2...<_<

Well the logic is this: 8 Endings depending on your favorite colur and your readiness. Now double it because of whether you blew up the Collectors base in ME2 or not. Where they get their 17th ending from however is beyond me.

Well said! I have mates who have never played a game like this and there would be no point trying to explain this to them. A game like this and its effects over a persons heart and imagination can't be explained unless they play it themselves. Thankfully we have this thread where we can all stand together.

They live in a universe where 1 + 1 = 3.

eastern thought tends to be more collectivist than western but endings that jus kill everyone as a scorched earth policy don't play well there either.  check out this article:  http://www.japanpowe...es-deep-endings  so there is hope.

But, really, I feel pretty hopeful. Your right, all this stuff seems to correlate pretty well.

Not sure if this was brought up yet.

I would think if the indoctrination/dream state theory was correct wouldn't the higher your galactic readiness is the less choices (of the three) you are given. In order to show that you are stronger, from what I've seen the lowest readiness just gives you just the destroy option.

Hold the Line.

They won't like ... you can trust me one that... people confuse there endings of vague because the don't understand some of the themes that are told in the stories... especially when the start  going heavy in the eastern philosophy...

They are  going to look  this endings  and go.. "WTF"
