That's what most of us feel now. People have been saying the journey is more important than the destination, which works for the first playthrough, but it's nigh impossible to enjoy the journey when you know for certain that the destination uncompromisingly bleak and non-sensical.:crying:

So true! If they could just give us *one* happier ending then I can merrily start another playthrough. But right now with what we've been given its just too depressing.

So, I suppose that this is off topic, but is this thread the longest one on BSN yet?

Question - if they make us wait for months for any sort of confirmation, who here thinks they can hold the line for that long? So far it's only been a week, but give it 6 more... I LOVE the game, to the point where people say I'm obsessed (after reading these forums I'm glad to say I'm not the only one haha), but if I don't know if I want to hang onto this feeling of despair for months.

As it was before, so it shall be again....

Once upon a time I made a commitment. I told myself to never again purchase a SOE/Sony product. The reason was simple, they managed to destroy the best MMO I´ve ever seen. It was beautiful with open worlds and complex, from the skill choice to the crafting system, but it was not "cool" and it didn't have a wider and larger playerbase. So SOE took a unilateral decision to make the game WOW like, and in the end, it died... The game was called Star Wars Galaxies..

It has been many years now, but I haven't bought any SOE game. I haven't even bought any Sony product. I know I am just one guy, one customer and alone, I can't do anything about it. Still, I keep to my word, because there is no other way.

As time goes by, the posts on this thread will dwindle, that's just the way it is. But if each and everyone of us decide to NEVER again buy a game from EA (publisher) and Bioware (developer) then, and only then, even if this movement fails, we will still be holding the line. We will still be heard, and they will feel the power of all our voices speaking in unison.

Right now I have no hopes for a "true" ending, and I find this entire DLC addition simply distasteful (free or not). I won't lie and say I will not get it (buy it) if it comes out, but that will be the last time EA/Bioware will ever see my money.

All I want is an explanation, not only about the lack of content and quality of the game Mass Effect 3, but especially about the lack of interest and accountability Bioware/EA has shown so far. They believe it is ok to ignore us, or to use the media industry to troll and flame us, as many articles and journalists have been doing since we began our campaing. That's not how a company is supposed to treat their customer base, and thank you Forbes for a great article on this regard ( many in total on our cause).

So, I will hold the line, even after I am gone from this thread (eventually I will have to go), and I will keep my word of not ever again buying a product from them, which is sad since I have been a Bioware fan since Baldur's Gate. But enough is enough.

We have drawn the line people, they are trying to cross, they are saying it's ok to con us and fool us. I say NO MORE.

Let's keep up the good work

and HOLD THE LINE....

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot

I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be fought

Let's not forget the treason....

Hmm...not sure if I see that as a confirmation...

lol poor Ali, i really hope she doesnt become under seige for the endings. Theres nothing she can do about it. She was amazing throughout the entire game, as was Hale and all the other actors & actresses. In fact its their incredible skills that made the ending all the more painful. They are just too good lol :P

I was never a big fan of the mshepard voice, but Mark really stepped up to the plate in this one.

If we get relyable confermation on this, then I'm sure everyone will be VERY happy. Including me.

Right now it's just a rumor though. So until we get confermation, keep holding that line!

One could not make blue babies with Liara if one was dead and said Liara was stranded on random jungle island. Shepard is amazing but...does not possess THAT ghost baby making skill.

Are you questioning the limits of Space Magic!? That magical explosion of colour impregnated everyone from a far. How do you think they repopulate that tropical planet?

I just can't put my "cannon" Shepard through that ridiculousness.   I'm retconning my own game so that she died during the Suicide Mission even though everyone else made it out okay.  Until, you know "The Truth" DLC comes out.  *fingers crossed*  Of course, it sounds too much like Assassin's Creed to be real

So I briefly told a work friend a little about our situation because she caught me reading an article from one of the sites that expressed better than I can our grievances. She looked at me and said you know it's a game right?' And she didn't say it very nice it was a little condecending. I know why we're doing what we're doing. And I'm holding the line to the bitter end. Why did her remark sting so much?

"It's just a book." "It's just a movie." "It's just a game." Different people enjoy different mediums. So to us, it's not just a game. It's our interactive story. Where our choices were supposed to mean something. That's why it stings so much.

They will never understand how much it means to us. It's much more than a game to us, it's a community; a family. Look around you, we have friends from all walks and areas here. We sit and discuss and speculate and argue and laugh. That sounds like a family to me.

Thank you all who responded, I just felt like I got hugged with a warm blanket!  Wish there was a crying smiley face Image IPB  You guys truly rock!!  Image IPB

First time poster, but having finished the game, I felt obligated to add my two cents.

I am a longtime fan of the Mass Effect series, I even considered Mass Effect 3 to be the game I looked forward to most this year. I thoroughly the enjoyed the first 39 hours and 55 minutes, with its heartbreaking and beautiful moments; the shooting challenge with Garrus, the discussion with Tali of a house with a view, writing the time capsule with Liara, Mordin’s heroic sacrifice, as well as Legion’s, and Thane’s final prayer. These moments defined the story for me. Over three games, I had come to care for these characters. I had no need for my Shepard to survive; he had worked so hard to make sure to provide a better future for the galaxy, even if he never got to see it. That would be his legacy. There were only two things I wanted from the ending, closure for the characters I had become attached to and to see the influence of Shepard’s legacy. This is why the last five minutes disappointed me so much, everything I had done and everyone I cared for, it all became irrelevant.

I am at lost to explain how Bioware could have created this ending, especially after how well they had crafted the rest of the game. They had to have known it would not please fans. I can only hope that Bioware will release some kind of content that will provide a fitting conclusion to one of my favorite series.

I have papers to grade starting next week, then possibly revising my thesis further, all of which require me to be by my computer.  After that I just wait to defend my thesis, so I'll hold the line as long as it takes.  Remember though, what with the ChipIn campaign, you don't have to have despair to hold the line.  While despair/rage/defeat/confusion motivated all of us initially, it will be love of this game and series that keeps us strong.  Love of our Sheps and crew, that's what will enable us to hold the line!

Hello there, fellow graduate student.

I'm supposed to be writing a chapter for my doctoral dissertation right now.

Harthouse - I love your response :), thank you. You are right, once the despair has gone, it will be love for my Shep, Kaidan, the crew and the ME universe that makes me want to keep fighting.

WvStolzing - heh, seems we should all be doing some form of university work right now (except mine's due tomorrow... ahh!!)

To the folks talking about how depressed they are and how others just don't understand:

When I was 10? 11? or there abouts I read a fantasy trilogy that was slightly above my reading level. The final book concluded with the main character winning but at the cost of nearly all of his friends and his dearest love. It ends on a positive note somewhat as he'd just defeated the evil forces threatening the world but at great personal cost. He goes on but is permanently scarred and saddened by everything.

Now this is fairly standard stuff for pretty much any form of media - has been since the tragedies and comedies of old. But to me at the time, my world ended right alongside the main character's. I'd spent untold hours finding these books, slogging through them, opening up the dictionary when I didn't understand what was going on. When I read the end and soaked in the what had happened just like the protagonist I set down the book in a daze and cried.

For at least a week I was in a numb state. My family thought something was wrong with me but how was I supposed to explain? I tried to but it just wasn't worth it. You wouldn't have been able to feel the impact of the character's pain unless you were right there on his shoulder the whole time like I was.

It's been many years since then and I've grown up with a healthy dose of cynicism about the world in the mean time. While I've had strong emotional reactions to other media since nothing was quite like that first devastating blow. I suspect it has happened to many people in one form of the other. While few stories are told well enough to garner this kind of response the ones that do are usually, like a childhood accident, unforgettable for better or worse. I can still tell you to this day what happened at the end of that book: I haven't picked it up since I finished it almost fifteen years ago.

So, what's the point of this stroll down painful, fictional memory lane? That your reaction to your story, the one you had such high hopes for, the one you have loved for years, is completely normal. If you're been around since day one you've had the better part of five years to love ME. That kind of thing isn't just a video game or book or movie at this point. You have a real emotional attachment to it. It would be like your pet dying (depending on how much you love your cat, crazy cat ladies/gents). It doesn't matter if your friends or coworkers or anyone else even met your cat. What matters is that you loved the crap out of the little bastard and now it's gone.

So if you loved the crap out of ME and now that love is gone, realize that you didn't just get shafted by a game company. Something you love was taken from you unexpectedly. Deal with it accordingly. Just don't run out to get a kitten and name it Shepard. That makes us all look bad.

Whew.

when you are going to the cerberus base, you get cut scenes, and one of them shows Sheppard half naked and Liara naked (I guess) having alien sexy time.
At least that happened for me.
Liara could be pregant from now on, giving birth to little blue children on that planet they strand.
Which in this case proves to be one problem again:
Everytime I heard something about asari children, I never witnessed any of them say there are twins
conclusion: best case scenario:
Liara with one little blue kid, Joker and Garrus on some weird Garden world, rest of most of the species on earth.
Durr, what am I writing here..

But yeah. Throw him a bone, tell him from me i loved everything about ME3 up untill the end. And i cant for the life me get the urge to play second time knowing how fruitless and disappointing it will all end anyway. =)

Also, looking on the ME3 Twitter page, I see a lot of people complaining about the ending in pretty harsh terms (it sucked, was crap, garbage, s**t, etc...) and then, when they're asked what they didn't like, most of them haven't even responded. I don't know how much it's worth but BioWare is actually asking them to back up their statements and they're not responding to them. Seriously, BioWare is asking for feedback from these people and they can't be bothered to respond to them? Can't help but think this makes them, and by proxy us, look bad. Hopefully they get on top of it soon.

In which case, I severely doubt it. I would love the hell out of it, and it certainly SOUNDS plausible, but I doubt it.
