Lurking since I beat the game last night. Man I was warned that the ending was pretty terrible and I still wasn't prepared when it happened. I suppose its a credit to Bioware that they developed a series of video games that created genuine emotion, as nerdy as that sounds, but the last ten minutes tainted the entire experience and disconnected me from the story.
And don't tell me the ending was deep and were supposed to use critical thinking to decide for ourselves what all the vague space magic was all about. This isn't a painting for us to interpret. We are sharing a virtual journey with the developers of this game creating the story and environment. That's what sets video games apart from say, books or movies. We are experiencing the story from the first person perspective rather than as third person observers. We rely on the developers to great the story we progress through so when they decide to withhold information and become vague, it doesn't so much incite wonder and mystery as much as confusion and disconnect. We either switch roles and start making up the world in our own heads (possibly to be invalidated by future dlc's or sequels) or we just give up on the story all together. Were it a crappy story to begin with few would care but since many of us were deeply engrossed in the journey, such a end is gut wrenching.
Oh uh anyway, so as dorky and unexpected as it is for me to say it, Rocky Mountain outpost, holding the line!

Welcome aboard and just so you know it isn't dorky at all on here. I have been referring to myself as SSV Cleveland since the thread was in the 400's. Hold that line!

Also, they might change out shifts on manning the twitter.  Not really sure.

Collected more than 7000 war asset points, spent nearly 200 hours playing the trilogy, preodered ME3 for ****in' 75 bucks and what did i get? I nice game but all the feelings i had were overwhelmed by sadness and anger because of the endings. Call me oldfashioned, but i want a happy end. For Shepard, for Liara, for Grunt, for Garrus, for the Galaxy. Mordin didn't sacrifice his life for such lousy, depressing endings.

Very well said - I too am old fashioned and I want a happy ending for Sheppard, his L1, and his friends ever since ME1. If anyone in this or the Mass Effect Universe deserves a happy ending it's Sheppard and his various crews who gave everything. A lifetime of war DESERVES some peace and a place to call home. That's the North American way!

Wow, this thread moves so fast... Anyways, I've been lurking here for a while and I've got to say, I personally can't stand the endings and I'm hoping they change them or give us something that gives us closure for the whole series...

I wish one of the endings was Shepard going out in a blaze of glory, destroying just the reapers with the crucible and the various civilizations celebrating afterwards.

There would be a funeral for Shepard. All of the surviving squadmates would say a few sentences about how Shepard affected them (Did I do the loyalty missions from ME 2, side missions from ME 1, etc) as well as important representatives of races (Did the Geth and Quarians make peace, did I save the Krogan from genocide, did I save the original Council, etc). And if my love interest was capable of being impregnated ( Liara for both Shepards, Ash/Miranda for Male Shep) then the love interest could even hold a baby from Shepard (Again, being an option). Hell, they could even have Shepard's background matter for an extra character appearance (Shepards mom for Space, Finch and some Reds for Earth, Tabitha and some colonists for Colonist etc).

This all may sound cliche and cheesy, but this is an example of how people wanted a conclusion with some of the bigger choices we made over the years. People aren't asking for 50 different complete endings, just give us 3 actually different endings with small variables for each.

I dunno, i feel really bad for Casey and crew now cause it does feel like there is something in the pipe for ending DLC. It's just I'm not sure why they are letting this spin out like this. It probably would of kept a lot of negative reviews off the board if they just hit everyone with a DLC list over the weekend because this kind of PR is just too hard to control. Even if they did release it for free(which I think it should not because honest pay for honest work), the response will be uneven....sometimes the surprise is just not worth it no? It just feels really gutsy to try this in this method when so many people are emotionally invested in this.

well:

honest work which should have been done already (IMHO the game feels "unfinished" and "rushed" to me...it was good (could have used some polishing and, with doing it different, they could have made a better game, but that is moot now anyway), but these endings are like the writers took a toilet-break and the kid of one of their clerks found the script and pieced together an ending...sorry, but these are like badly written fanfiction - no offense to Bioware, but i feel that way!)

they even ignored the reactions to the leak they had (people told them that this story was not up to standard and no one cared, they just pushed on!)

so, NO WAY I FEEL BAD ON THEIR BEHALF, they made this (they dug their own whole, so i should not be required to give them a damned ladder to climb back out...this is mind boggling, that people would throw money at them by the bucket load in order for THEM (remember, they did this!) to fix THEIR OWN SCREW UP!)

greetings LAX
ps: they should fork out the cash for DLC, as only feeling something helps you understand and learn most of the times...it is like treating your girl-/boyfriend badly and then expecting them to hand you a gift because you treated them badly (snapped at them, took them to McDonnald's instead of the fancy restaurant you promised, telling them you will be somewhere the next day and then not showing up - without cancelling etc. - would you expect your RL-LI to just forgive, give you a kiss and forget it???:?

WELL: I GUESS NOT! <_<

I am desperately holding the line.

I keep on hearing about how people will buy DLC if it would fix the ending.

I was sold ME3 on the promise that is was a complete game, and now if it turns out that I was sold an incomplete game and the ending of the game is being held hostage and I have to pay a ransom for it. While I might buy the DLC ending (because 5 years, 200+ hours of gameplay, $300+ (AUD) I spent, I need an ending), BW and EA can kiss any money I might have thrown their way in the future goodbye.

I think so too.

I actually have to disagree with you on that one. At the rate the thread is moving I would estimate a Wednesday arrival at the 2k milestone. I think that since the global release is out of the way we won't have to wait that long for an answer. Optimistically it could happen before this weekend. Hold the line and we will know soon enough.

Yes, and trying to post this every page is pointless spam.

But consistently slapping this into the thread over and over is in fact pointless spam.

@DarthLaxian...

To be fair it is unfortunate that people hate the endings(though rightfully so) in the sence that somebody(Dev Team) released this product HOPEFULL that we'd love it.

Nobody works that hard and that long on something wanting it to be rejected. Unfortunately sometimes that is the case.

What remains to be seen is if they have it in them to admit that while they tried thier best it wasn't good enough, and they need to go back and finish strong. To me that would show that they really do care and have enough integrity to admit they made a mistake. I think they have it in them, even if they aren't permitted to say it just yet.

Holding the Line... respectfully. Cheers. McBeath.

Just got a message from another member who can't post in the forum:

Just wanted to say that there's a lot of people like me who are with you, but who can't write in the endings thread cause they didn't activated their copy for one or the other reason. The real amount of people complaining and unhappy with the endings are much much bigger, believe me. I'm russian and on each and every forum and board there's ton of people who's unhappy with the endings. But very few go to the official boards due to the many reasons.

We're with you. Hold the line!

To all of our silent brethren, I say stand strong, and hold the line!

Hey everyone! most people already know about his, but I just found out that bioware fans part of our community have raised close to $44,000 for a charity called Child's Play becasue of the badendings. Whether or not I agree with getting a new ending, this is a great positive way of venting, and makes me proud to be a bioware fan!

What is even the point of having a LI? Why go through all that emotion scenes with Liara etc etc only to have them marooned on an island, acting like nothing is wrong, as if Shepard is standing right there beside them?

May as well just focus on the better aspects of the game like the gameplay<_< as opposed to pursuing relationships and getting into the story only to find out they don't give a rat's ass about you in the end. Though that is not their true nature, I know they are caring characters, but due to what happened in the ending, this is unfortunately the case.

I was prepared to be forced to see Shepard have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the galaxy. I wouldn't have liked it but I was prepared for it. I was even prepared to see the Normandy and crew die, or Earth be a devastated ruin. I wasn't prepared for what they did to the galactic civilization.

The ending makes me feel like everything Shepard and co. did, all they sacrificed, was for nothing. These endings don't count as victory. It's just trading one horrible fate (the Reapers) for another one (the collapse of civilization)

Just remember you are being told along the way (especially by Javik) that countless species have tried and failed to end the reaper cycle. You're being told that it's bigger than humanity, it's bigger than anything you can imagine. You reach the pinnacle of the cycle and you make it further than any have before. You are a tiny spec of existance in the galaxy, but you still make it. Shepard has become a legend (In Blue/Green) and his sacrifice has now made him more important than anything in the galaxy. It is bittersweet but necessary and who better to decide the fate of the galaxy? I never expected the game to end happily, it was leading up to a very gloomy moment. I had hoped he would conquer the cycle, but you could just see how much was against you and that greater matters were now at stake. It was no longer about humanity. You and your friends became insignificant to the fate of the galaxy. Chaos must be stopped/managed. I felt quite proud of my character and his sacrifice. It was poeticaly beautiful. Sad as well. All has not been lost though. (Liara is going to have little blue Shepards on a beautiful new planet :P)

It now brings more meaning to the name they chose "Shepard"

Pointless? No. You said yourself, this thread moves quite fast. Many people haven't seen this video, and considering what it says, it's very beneficial to our cause.

Spam? Again, no. If I were posting it once every page(like you claim I am, which I'm not), yeah, that'd be spam. The only reason it's been on every page since I initially posted it the first time is because of your quoting of my original post. So thanks for helping me keep awareness of this video alive by keeping it on the current page. Much appreciated.

Intellectual property rights allow for a manufacturer, developer, writer, etc to alter the product however they choose before release. No, bioware interviews and development promises are not legally considered advertising. Not in the slightest, and there's no legal precident to support otherwise.

Law works via precident, however, so if you could make this the first case.. well.. good luck. I'm not saying that it would be easy either, or hard.

I'm saying that it's about as close to impossible as you can get from a legal standpoint.

Not to prolong this discussion unnecessarily, but one question----

Are we even sure we got Earth back?

Also: The product page on the website says--"EXPERIENCE THE BEGINNING, MIDDLE, AND END OF AN EMOTIONAL STORY UNLIKE ANY OTHER, WHERE THE DECISIONS YOU MAKE COMPLETELY SHAPE YOUR EXPERIENCE AND OUTCOME."but the last of those claims has already been falsified. From a legal standpoint, could they get away with it, after having said "your decisions COMPLETELY shape your [the?] outcome"?

They probably would, but, well moot point anyhow.
