Hmm, I still find that hard to believe...
I mean, if they just wanted to save production time, why didn't they just pick the DA:O method of ending the game? They could have just shown some short cutscenes at the end, followed by pictures of your teammates and the different races of the ME universe and make a voice actor read some lines about their further story and how your actions influenced them. This could have easily been done in a very short amount of time.
Sure, it would have been considered lazy by a lot of fans, but it would still be a thousand times better than the franchise killer we were served...
But if you are actually right with your theory, this would be without a doubt the worst development decision i have ever witnessed. The ending we have now displeases an overwhelming part of their fanbase and effectivly kills the whole franchise. And all that to include a multiplayer?
MP might be a neat future to have, but really, who buys a game like ME3 for its multiplayer?
