Games are supposed to be fun, and not make you sad you finished them (if that's not what you're looking for)

She got nuked in my playthrough. I don't like racists...or speciesists? Xenophobes. Whatever.

Don't let the frustration win mate. We have a better chance of fixing this if we stay civil and go about this the right way.TheRealMithril wrote...
The thing is we are not given then ending. We're given the death sequence of Shepard. And some say it's all indoctrination, I say it's both. Here is the deal, from the very first scene where Shepard sees the child (that nobody else can see in the entire game) we are witnessing the decline of Shepard.
Throughout the game we are given hints of this all the time, little things that most fail to notice down to more obvious ones such as the dreams and outright telling you: Such as when the VI tells you that it detected "indoctrination presence", and NO the VI was NOT referring to Leng. It was talking about YOU the very moment you came close to it. It repeates the fact AFTER Leng is dead, when it tells you that the Indoctrination lock is shut down, so now you can ask whatever you want. At this point it is absolutely clear that Shepard is becoming a subject of the Reapers. Fast forward to the ending.
After the blast everything is in an out of body experience. The whole environment around Shepard is wrong and the Reapers begin to "draw you in". Destruction is you winning against the reapers... I am ok with this. But the things is that it is presented as the "actual" ending of the game.. and that pissed med off. Not only was I given a ****ty "ending", I was completely ignored in everything I put in to Shepard. Indoctrination or not, shepard at that point would still be able to flip the finger at the AI 'child' (which is like... never trust a child telling you what to do. You know this right?) And the 'colors' just aggrevated me further. A) I don't like to be played. This is the most important part. Unless I am told *before* that there will be a continuation, I want the bloody ending in the game I purchased. .. and the.. hey, let's see how many get's it, game BW is playing just ruins the whole experience of ME. ..
The *whole* immersion is ruined, these kind of metajokes really don't work well unless you are *really really* good at it. And given how much the Internet is raging, It's pretty clear that BW is *not* good at it. ... It's time to stop the charade and come clean. You are actively destroying your hard work, and the sad fact is that you don't seem to get it (yes I am talking to you BW).

Is it just me, or was anyone else that had a Spacer Shep annoyed that you never even get an email from your mom? You would think with the possible end of the galaxy close at hand they would at least attempt to talk to each other. Unless I somehow missed it and you can talk to her?
I noticed that as well, I mean Hackett mentions she's still alive and working on the Cruible, but as far as I can remember that's the only mention of her in the game... >.< And there is never any mention of spacer Shep's father throughout the entire series.... I mean I get that Anderson is supposed to be like a father figure to all Sheps, but still, not even mentioning the dad? wth?!
In my mind, Mama Shep and Anderson had a fling way back when. He might as well be her/his dad.
I like that idea. Would explain why Shep and Anderson are so close.
No please, let's not go there. Let Anderson be the guy could always trust.
On another note. An ending that I would've accepted id the ending of "the Bourne ultimatum". You think Bourne dies, but in the end you see him swimming away.
I would've liked that, Shepard standing up from that pile of rubble. and looking at the dead reapers, then moving away. credits roll.
Damn, I think I ned to watch the ending of the Bourne ultimatum again. (Moby's Extreme ways is also awesome)

I was prepared to be forced to see Shepard have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the galaxy. I wouldn't have liked it but I was prepared for it. I was even prepared to see the Normandy and crew die, or Earth be a devastated ruin. I wasn't prepared for what they did to the galactic civilization.
The ending makes me feel like everything Shepard and co. did, all they sacrificed, was for nothing. These endings don't count as victory. It's just trading one horrible fate (the Reapers) for another one (the collapse of civilization)
Just remember you are being told along the way (especially by Javik) that countless species have tried and failed to end the reaper cycle. You're being told that it's bigger than humanity, it's bigger than anything you can imagine. You reach the pinnacle of the cycle and you make it further than any have before. You are a tiny spec of existance in the galaxy, but you still make it. Shepard has become a legend (In Blue/Green) and his sacrifice has now made him more important than anything in the galaxy. It is bittersweet but necessary and who better to decide the fate of the galaxy? I never expected the game to end happily, it was leading up to a very gloomy moment. I had hoped he would conquer the cycle, but you could just see how much was against you and that greater matters were now at stake. It was no longer about humanity. You and your friends became insignificant to the fate of the galaxy. Chaos must be stopped/managed. I felt quite proud of my character and his sacrifice. It was poeticaly beautiful. Sad as well. All has not been lost though. (Liara is going to have little blue Shepards on a beautiful new planet)
It now brings more meaning to the name they chose "Shepard"
I think a lot of us accepted the strong possibility that our Shepard would die but....*shakes head* anyway, Liara having kids on a remote planet? You do realize the repercussions of this don't you?
haha yeah I do.
But It's now the beginning of something new. The cycle has ended. You've set in motion how the future will roll the dice. It's up to them now to survive and create something new. I guess that's why they show the end clip with the old man and the child. Whichever choice you made will define how the galaxy will live and they will never forget 'The Shepard'
There's definately some holes there though that I have questions about thats for sure. I'd like to know who this child is who gives you the options and why he refers to himself as "we and us'. I'd like to know how Liara who I had with me on the final mission got onto the normandy and ended up getting through to the mass relay in time with joker and crew with the 'beam of change' chasing them. Exactly how long was there between Admiral Hackett saying "somethings wrong, it's not firing" and your crew deciding, somethings not right, its time for plan B.......flee. This is something that can be answered in a DLC. Not sure about it requiring a number 4. I'm sure a 4 could be made easily though.
If Shepard hadn't gotten to the Catalyst's 'control room' the ending would have been terrible people. He would have fought and died for nothing, exactly like the Prothean cycle. But he made it and faced deciding the fate of future generations, much more than what any other previous cycle species had achieved. He/She is Legendary.
