I don't think I'd be able to stay away from this thread now even if I wanted to, I just HAVE to know what's going on.
I like the fact that they're asking what's wrong with the ending. Although this line of thought means they hadn't planned for this reaction.
They can read here what's wrong with the ending if they can't figure that out by themselfs.
I had better opinion about them before all this.

I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, but if they are really preparing something to fix the ending, why didn't they tell us this right from the beginning?
Have you seen any of the polls concerning ME3, the games metacritic rating or its rating on amazon? All of them are borderline horrible and are doing damage to their sales numbers. Would BioWare really allow this to happen, if the had something up their sleeve? I don't think so.
In my opinion they probably weren't prepared for that kind of reception. Maybe they were sure that the majority would love an open ending, just a few people who'd complain. Turns out it went the complete opposite way. An ending dlc could've been a contingency plan.
As long as Bioware doesn't confirm or deny anything, a new ending is possible.

wow, did anyone else read the gamefaq forum regarding the endings? if its true what he wrote, then its honestly really sad. Sounded like a proper ending the series. Dont know what to believe, but i guess it doesnt help us knowing what could have been, makes what we have all the more sad.
Link?
Dont know if thats fanfiction or not, but damn that sounds so much better.

Sorry, could I just ask why you guys think this is an ingenious idea? I would definitely not be thrilled to learn that a fundamental part of the product I purchased was knowingly withheld, especially for a reason like that.
It might be an interesting stunt to pull, but in a business setting? Not cool. Hence the "insane", I guess.

Exactly.
This is how hope works through denial. This is how good actually Bioware iswas since so many players can't accept the thought that BW just let them down =(
I totally know what you are saying by that. Ever since I played KOTOR Bioware has been my favorite RPG producer. Call me naive if you want, but just think of how legendary Bioware would be if this was all some kind of trick and one day they post on here "Hey everyone, it might be a good idea to play Mass Effect 3 again." and they patched the ending. One can hope at least.

See I would not mind. If they left out the end in order for it to not get spoiled for anyone (like those that get it released later) I think it would be an awesome idea. Not to mention Bioware sees how passionate its fans are about something they created.

And what about the people enjoying the "endings" at the moment? Wouldn't we change the sides?
Don't get me wrong, I dislike... no HATE the endings at the moment. I'm just asking
What really annoys me is the fact, that BW with it's good connection to it's community never made a statement to us in it's own social network. Only in an interview with some magazin. That really sucks.

They wouldn't tell us straight off because the game only finished being released today. Think what would happen to the day one sales in countries where it wasn't released yet if they said they were going to bring out a DLC later to add 'The Truth' as it is being called. People wouldnt buy the game till this was released. I know I wouldn't anyway.

Been keeping up with this thread for the last few days as a guest since completing ME3.
I came to the forums more or less as sson as i saw the end in hopes of answers myself but alas, I find out about the retake ME3 campaign. Good work all by the way for raising such a vast amount of money in such a short space of time
As for my own thoughts on the ending: i remember sitting there during the credits with mixed feelings and emotions running through my head. Part of me thought the endings were clever in their own way, even if they were somewhat bleak. But at the same time too many questions did indeed arise, all of them have been mentioned at some point or another on this forum. Why was the Normandy escaping from the fight with my team whom i thought were supposed to be with me right up until the storming of the beam? What's gonna happen now to everyone who was fighting on Earth? And, Why couldn't I Paragon dialogue choice my way out of the 3-choice conundrum as I have out of many other situations across the series? Did my choices actually mean anything?
It's a shame the war assets didnt have more of an impact in the long run, and the 'best' ending with shepard taking a breath in the rubble is as ambiguous as everything else up until that point.
I know people have probably seen this kind of post a million times already, but I have to agree with the people in this forum. I, like many of you, am not asking for sugar and rainbows for an ending, i mearly want closure as well. (though a happy ending with a heroic return to youir squad and LI wouldn't be objected to
So therefore, Perhaps I will hold the line as well

Ya I think they were playing a different game. This was not Splinter Cell it was Mass Effect.

As a publisity stunt; possibly - because those can be changed; and word of mouth is better than any other for of advertisement. Soon as it comes out; people would be like; OMG we got to actually make the ending *not its done; just waitng to be released* You also got to remember this is keeping mass effect in the news; no one hates the game; just the op. We love the game right up to the last 10 minutes.......

I also don't think BioWares cares about its fans too much anymore, just look at DA2 and the embarassing map recycle stuff they pulled off there. They surely knew in the first place that fans wouldn't like this, but did it anyway, regardless of our thoughts about that, real fanservice looks quite different...
So, hoping that the ME3 ending will be fixed just out of respect for the fans is not very realistic in my opinion.
For EA/BioWare this whole thing is quite simple:
The costs they have if they would fix those issues - the possible loss of sales due to upset fans = X
If X happens to a positive number you can bury any hope of getting acceptable endings for ME3...
