I got a question for you all. I have been reading people on twitter saying they are fine with Shepards death but they want closure, I can understand people wanting this, I even want this but only for ONE of the endings, are people really ok with Shepard dieing in all the endings. I wouldn't mind that as one of my endings but I would like a happy ending where Shepard goes back to his/her LI even I have to really work to get the ending.
Well I understand and agree with you. You would want to have a choice, right?
Honestly I always assumed Shepard would die. And that would have been tragic but also bring closure to his/her story. But I agree, it would be great to see Shepard hugging Tali on Rannoch. *sigh* But we may dream, no?

same here, before i decided to brace myself for the endings and spoil myself i fully expected i was going to get to build tali her house and see them together in it etc especially when it came up twice during the game and was mentioned in ME 2Berty213 wrote...

Possibly the greatest comment on the ending so far.

In my opinion they probably weren't prepared for that kind of reception. Maybe they were sure that the majority would love an open ending, just a few people who'd complain. Turns out it went the complete opposite way. An ending dlc could've been a contingency plan.
I also don't think BioWares cares about its fans too much anymore, just look at DA2 and the embarassing map recycle stuff they pulled off there. They surely knew in the first place that fans wouldn't like this, but did it anyway, regardless of our thoughts about that, real fanservice looks quite different...
So, hoping that the ME3 ending will be fixed just out of respect for the fans is not very realistic in my opinion.
For EA/BioWare this whole thing is quite simple:
The costs they have if they would fix those issues - the possible loss of sales due to upset fans = X
If X happens to a positive number you can bury any hope of getting acceptable endings for ME3...
Yes that is how all companies calculate whether they should recall a product. However, I think the number would be negative considering I and many others will never buy another Bioware game again. For example, I was thinking of getting a gaming comp in order to play TOR, but that idea went out the window since the end of ME3. Why should I get invested in another game when they are just going to tear it all down at the end again?

They wouldn't tell us straight off because the game only finished being released today. Think what would happen to the day one sales in countries where it wasn't released yet if they said they were going to bring out a DLC later to add 'The Truth' as it is being called. People wouldnt buy the game till this was released. I know I wouldn't anyway.
Uhm, this may be a stupid question, but why wouldn't you buy it right now if the announced said DLC?
Ok, maybe some people would postpone buying the game for a few weeks, but they would buy it anyway, just a bit later, so whats the big deal about that? The sales number would be identical.
Instead, they have to deal with 2-star ratings on amazon, which will REALLY decline their sales numbers...

See I would not mind. If they left out the end in order for it to not get spoiled for anyone (like those that get it released later) I think it would be an awesome idea. Not to mention Bioware sees how passionate its fans are about something they created.
Hmm, maybe. But I don't really see how either of these things could not have been achieved anyway by implementing the proper ending in the first place.
Spoilers, well that's always tricky, but people can take steps to avoid spoilers. Besides I would think that what happens during the story would be more spoiler-rich than the ending. While you're still fighting, anyone could die, anyone could turn traitor, any place could blow up. At the very end, given this is the end of the trilogy, you'd have to expect at least some of what's coming. The Reapers are defeated or they aren't. Earth is saved or it isn't. Shepard dies or s/he doesn't. Of course there could be a nonsensical last-minute plot twist that no-one expected, but when would that ever happen?
As for the second, they certainly succeeded in getting us all up in arms and generating publicity, but surely people wouldn't become less passionate if all the anticipation led to a worthy and satisfying ending the first time around?
Sorry to ramble, not trying to talk you down 'cause I like that you're hopeful (wish I could be that hopeful too!)

It's a fad nowadays. People got bored with the happy endings, so they all started going for bleak or bittersweet endings because they have "more emotional impact" and they started to believe happy endings are boring and lame. Many even go so far as to mock people who enjoy happy endings (usually using words like sunshine, butterflies and bunnies). Of course, it's not true. You can have a perfectly good happy ending without the need for everything go be "Happily Ever After" like a Disney movie where everything is peachy keen-- after all, a lot of good people died in this game. They earned that happy ending.
I personally prefer happy endings, though I can tolerate bittersweet. I think with all the choices ME has had, you should be able to get whatever ending you're aiming for.
In a series like ME where your choices mean something and can make a huge difference (saving the council, making sure everyone survived the suicide mission), having an outcome for everyone should be a priority. Happy, bleak and everything in between depending on how you handled yourself through the games.

as one of the endings I could deal with my shepard sacrificing himself to save everyone. Its what I'd do.......but I'd like the option to actually make it out too to be with my LI.......

Honestly, yes I would be fine with Shepard dying in all the endings. That is what I figured would happen in the end anyway. In my opinion the whole point of ME3 is sacrifice. Shepard has to sacrifice in order to save the galaxy. So I would be fine with Shepard dying, but like you said I would just like some closure to wrap the story arc up.
I mean sure, it would be cool to see you settle down with your LI or become the human abassador and meet up with everyone years later, but it is not necissary.
