I got my semi-ending. I accomplished what I set out to do: Destroy the Reapers. Why would I choose anything else? Control means being like TIM. Synthesis means being like Saren. No.
Pretty much that's how I interrupted it. My Shep doesn't want to be TIM nor Saren....so Destroy was the only way for me to go.
Same here, I came to destroy the Reapers and that is exactly what I did.
I felt so upset about EDI and the Geth though....

Now i think of it, Harbinger was also trying to stop us, only the laser wasn't calibrated enough to kill Shepard.

First post ever for me but I just couldn't sit silently by without adding my voice to the vast fleet of other confused and disappointed fans.
Most of my issues have been covered in what fraction of this vast thread I've managed to read so I won't wall of text.
My biggest gripe and the thing that disappointed me most was that almost none of what I had done with my femshep in the entire series up to citadel AI supergod star-child scene was rendered entirely moot. Won't even go into the taste-the-rainbow-space-magic-doom-ray. I think I sat there staring at the screen in abject disbelief for a good 15 minutes thinking "Did I miss something? Was there a mission I missed at some point? Is this really what we've had three games building up to?"
So now I dust off my N7 armour, grab my Carnifex from the armoury and...
Hold the line.

How about we all have some (canadian) bacon sandwiches instead?

There's a place for dark. That place is not after making a sharp U-turn at the end of a series with a different tone.Darth Suetam wrote...
Hehehehehe I don't know if he gave us that, but anyway, I think he is missing the point. Somehow there's a generation that thinks that "darker" is better, and there is also people who thinks "confusion" means "deeper story". So, he thinks speculation is good enough, but doesn't realize that the fans wanted closure. They wanted to feel that, after all this years, they got it. They made all these choices, and went through all that, and now they did it. And they should have respected it.
There's a place for speculation. That's in the middle of a series.
There's no place for a garbled mess.

Hehehe, sounds good sailor, specially that part about XO still being sane.
Why would the XO watch Diana Allers anyway ?
Smithers didn't react well to the news that we'd run out of tea. He screamed 'Man United for ever' (I think he comes from London, naturally) then started to headbut the drive core. The only way to calm him down was TV, but our communication system was only up to showing Jersey Shore or Britain's got Talent. Frankly no-one wished the latter on him, even after he urinated on the Jaffa Cakes, so it had to be Jersey Shore.
I'm told his rehabilitation is going well, but he won't be fit for duty for months...if ever.

I have been lurking here for quite a while, since back around page 600. I don't know why I hadn't registered until now. All I have to say is that I share everyone's feelings about these endings. Bioware had a really golden opportunity for what some call "watercooler" moments. And they executed that up until the ending.
Just think, if it weren't for the endings. Right now we would all be talking about the choices we made and how they effected the final outcome. All the different variables that presented themselves as a result.
There is one point I think hasn't been made, that I noticed reading these forums. Almost everyone refers to Shepard as "My Shepard" that shows the level of connection and immersion this world gave us. I unlike some, loved the ends to MGS4, because it was the conclusion of Snake's story (and gave wonderful conclusion as well, even if it was an hour long). But I didn't ever think of him as being anything more than a piece to move from point A to point B to further the story along. In ME the players own Shepard as much as the creators do, it's the way it has always been presented, we are co-authors.
In short, I played MGS4 for the story and to see it's conclusion, I played the Mass effect series to see the culmination of MY story. Mass Effect was a wonderful spiderweb of choices and repercussions. It's just so unfortunate that it ended in only 3 strands barely distinguishable from the others.
