:crying: That.. That is a beautiful sight. Have this play in the background over the distant shouts and laughter as Shepard looks out over the galaxy:

Would we be as vocal if the endings had been kick ass? would the endings are awesome topic get as many posts?
Also I doubt we would have started the charity drive either

Probably not all at once, because people would be replaying and sharing stories of enjoyment instead of coming together and supporting one another.  But I think over the long run, the "Thanks for a great game Bioware" posts would have out paced the complaint posts.

And you're right, we probably wouldn't have started the charity drive, but we wouldn't have needed to demonstrate how we aren't entitled whiners otherwise.

But all that is neither here nor there, were are where we are, we deal with what we've got, and we hold the line.

If the endings had been kick ass, we'd all be being a lot more vocal about the things we LOVED about the game. The events and outcomes of the full experience, the romances etc.

As it stands, the ending just completely rapes all of that because none of it matters. I speak for myself only though, I'd certainly still be vocal, it's just that it'd be about the things I LIKED.

Since finishing ME3, I've found the banter and general good humour of this thread has really helped to put a smile back on my face.  Instead of playing ME3 again I've been using the time to keep an eye on this thread which is quite hard when it moves so fast.

If I had the ability I would have made a motivational to express the sentiment:

A picture of Captain Kirrahe giving his speech followed by 'Holding the Line - More enjoyable than replaying ME3'

It really does help. It's a support group really. And we ALL hold the line. In unity. :D

Hehehe, sounds good sailor, specially that part about XO still being sane.
Why would the XO watch Diana Allers anyway ?

Smithers didn't react well to the news that we'd run out of tea. He screamed 'Man United for ever' (I think he comes from London, naturally) then started to headbut the drive core. The only way to calm him down was TV, but our communication system was only up to showing Jersey Shore or Britain's got Talent. Frankly no-one wished the latter on him, even after he urinated on the Jaffa Cakes, so it had to be Jersey Shore.

I'm told his rehabilitation is going well, but he won't be fit for duty for months...if ever.

Hehehe, that actually sounds mildly familiar, specially that part about ManU supporters who are from London, naturally.
Then again, i would rather watch BGT than Jersey Shore, at least there can something interesting happen in BGT or i might see someone i know (it has happened like twice).

That was....that was AWESOME :crying:

is it hard to do bioware????

I would pay real money for an "it was all a dream" DLC that retconned the ending and gave us that.  That is where I am with Mass Effect right now.  I teared up when Anderson died, but they quickly turned to tears of rage at that stupid astral kid.  That's what they feed BioWare writers, isn't it?  The tears of brokenhearted fans?

How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. "

I agree. There are plenty of things about this game that under different circumstances i'd be praising and posting about. Talking to anyone who will listen about all the awesome moments in the game etc. However, the ending has ripped away all my enthusiam and made all the those other moments in the game meaningless.

Let me start by saying I still hate the ending and eager to hold the line.

But has anyone read the April 2012 edition of Game Informer?

In it's Timeline section it marks the 25th of April as "Mass Effect's Story Continues," stating that:

"Commander Shepard's story is expected to end in Mass Effect 3, but that doesn't mean that Mass Effect universe will cease to be. Lead writer Mac Walters is continuing Mass Effect's story in a new ongoing Dark Horse comic series that focuses on Shephard's crew. Each issue takes a look at a different character. The first story is about James Vega."

That dun sound too good, Jim.

Exacty. My Shep worked so hard to get back together with Ashley and in the end it was for nothing. Thinking back on it Kaidan/Ashley's sacrifice is similar to Gandalf's.  The difference of course is that Gandalf came back, while the one who died on Virmire didn't. Still. I really liked the ending of Lord of the Rings.

That kind of makes me wonder who will be interested in buying a comic book about a character who is likely already dead... Or else stranded on a planet somewhere. I personally liked Vega a lot more than I thought I would (which really isn't saying much), but knowing the ending of all this mess, is it even worth it to figure out how he got there in the first place?

Sadly, that's the same way I feel about most Mass Effect stuff right now. Why do I need to see character development again? X_X
