Just a little commentary before I take my leave:

We probably haven't seen an official answer to any of this because it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

If you're the poor sucker who drew the short straw and had to write up a response to this, you risk spoiling the entire game to appease everyone, or you end up confirming these endings without context, or you summarize the entire damn plot.

I would love a sarcastic, "it's gun b kay" response.

Do it, Bioware. Say it. I have a lot of popcorn to get through.

Yep, everything's gonna be okay.

Hell, I would be okay with an ending like this

Huh.  Or potentially dead/alive squadmates, yes?  Which at this point is pretty much all squadmates?

I think I need to get off of this thread before my head explodes.

In ME2, there were many different things (mostly squadmates living or dying and such) between the bink videos.

So we can have the same bink videos but quite a few things happening in-between in ME3 too?

I was in denial once too...there there, it's ok.  It gets easier, trust me <3

vell i have gotten over it i just want to make a point.  it is what it is and il make shure shepard survives a destruciton of the reapers choice and let that be the end.       and do that 30 times over again.
if you pay atantion you can se pepole go trough the 3 stages of greef: denial. hope and acseptence

and if it is veary bad and a lot of fan rage it probably comes a dlc of som sort if not the prothian dude knows something intresting. since from what i know the space edition is a standar edition so those hwo have it dosent hav the dlc so wait and see

Even more than the rumors, the Space Edition sports a reduced selection of endings.

See, now that can sound plausible in a way that EA/Bioware can't simply trust gamers with Space Editions to sign a simple NDA form and expect them to fulfill it.

We won't know until the 6th. Until then, I got a paper due.

My god, you are ridiculous.  Go over to the SA forums.  There are 3 people there that have played the game.  2 have pics to prove it.  We have leaked images that show the endings just as Tank described them a long time ago.  The PC version is now on pirate sites and the end vids are getting pulled.  Everything matches the script but with more detail and people from multiple different forums have now seen the endings.  Yes, you're right, it's a giant trolling conspiracy

While I agree that Patriot is just making a fool of himself (and I'd say, on purpose), I disagree that bink videos of the pirated version or screenshots would prove anything. When I want to do it, I do it right. I capture the f**** whole scenes with Fraps and compress with MovieMaker and upload to YouTube. In game cinematics are not in Bink videos. The actual endings of ME3, I believe, are not in Bink videos but in ingame cinematics.

Plus there is no ME3 bink video uploaded anywhere yet.

As for the PC version, wasn't the Origin pre-load today or something?

If it's the Origin version, no videos are being pulled. It needs to be unlocked.

It is probably the Origin version. The ingame cinematics need to be unlocked and played out during a game playthrough but the Bink videos do not, I guess. Only that I believe Bink videos do not tell the tale without the ingame cinematics.

Sigh. I must have faith.... must.. have... faith.  They wouldn't intentionally screw over one of their signature game series like this. Not when it's the final installment.

Make game.
Hype up game to get an insane amount of pre-orders and make loads of money.
Deal with the rage afterwards, money is already in the bank.

Doesn't really matter what they do with the series, it's not like you can refund a game because you dislike the ending or anything.

Not saying this is how it will be, but that's pretty much DA2's story. They then released two decent DLC's to make up for it.

My understanding is that none of the pre-rendered bink videos can have information which include player-choice-based variables (e.g. what your shep looks like, who's alive/dead, etc.).  Is that right?

I don't mind having endings were Shepard dies, so long as he goes out like a badass that's ok with me.

It would be thoughtful to the diehard fans for bioware to include a *air quotations* happy ending were Shepard lives and has lots of blue children with Liara or whoever...Courtez if you're into that stuff.

I've seen other Origin pre-loads and all the important files were always packed/locked.

No way will the bink files be accessible on pre-load. That is one thing I can be 100% certain.

just get over it.
it's a (well made) troll or mislead infos, nothing more.
ending videos won't do it, as there are in-game cutscenes to and besides you don't know which videos are related to each other (in your play through I mean)

What I would like to know is how different the variations are from each other. Because if they are just restrung bits of the other versions, we might have something. If there is any, literally any new content, then it's a moot point.

Though it would be a hell of a lot of trouble to go to in order to screw over people who read the spoilers.

That's what it was in ME2 yeah.
Variables that were yes/no (Normandy upgrades / Normandy space combat, etc. near the Collector base) had bink files.

The only spoiling of ME3 came from inside Bioware.

(I'm old enough to remember when "spoiling" something didn't mean "revealing the ending".)

Yes, they intentionally angered their fans and hurt their sales.

It still doesn't make sense to me. Why would they have a build up for all the nice romances for the future just to shove it all in your face?

Man, this forum really is comprised of hysterical rumor-mongering debbie downers.

Your posts are making me sympathize with the reapers and the extinction of the human race doesn't sound so bad anymore. I think I'm going to side with the reapers in my first playthrough THERE BETTER BE AN OPTION TO DO THAT BIOWARE OR PREORDER CANCELLLLLLLED

Well the problem is, that people reacted like this for Dragon Age 2. People like you then did what you just did.

Then all the hysterics turned out to be true.

DA2 was buggy as hell.
The levels were completely copy and pasted a half a dozen times each.
The choices didn't matter.
The promised auto-attack feature wasn't in the game.

Don't get me wrong, DA2 was still a fun game, but Bioware lied through their teeth about it, and the doom-sayers turned out to be right with what they said it was like.

I absolutely hated Dragon Age 2.  I'm lucky my pre-order was from Amazon so I had no trouble returning it and getting a full refund.  I do have the Mass Effect CE preordered though, and nothing I've seen so far gives me the impression that ME3 is going to be a disaster like DA2.

People have to keep in mind that there is probably more to the endings than the brief spoiler descriptions we've been given.  Mass Effect is a ridiculous space opera, and if you were to give a two line description for the major plot points and endings in ME1 and ME2, it would also sound pretty dumb.  Mass Effect's strength was always in its execution, and the videos and spoilers I've seen indicate it's going to be sweeping and epic and awesome.

Xiosite even said that he was very satisfied with the ending that he got in his short 23-hour playthrough.

Aw, come on! You don't really believe they would be satisfied with only 1 million copies sold through pre-order and ZERO after release, do you? Skyrim's over 10 million units sold certainly made EA people's eye$ $hine with the possibilities.

And the 5 stages of gried do no apply in this case because no one has died and nothing has really been proved beyond doubt. As it is now it is just rumors and antecipation of suffering.

I really want to believe that the space edition has not everything that the full release will have. It would be stupid to let spoilers out like that, specially if they might really affect sales negatively.
