So we can't get the ending we want after all?

There is a poll about how we liked the ending on the website of the german game magazine Gamestar here: (scroll down a little)
http://www.gamestar.de/
Question: How did you like the ending of ME3:
The possible answers are:
1. Very good, exactly what I was hoping for
2. Other than expected, but good
3. Was okay, could have been better
4. I am disappointed
5. The ending ruined the whole series
6. Are you crazy? I didn´t even finish the game
Take part, if you like (My choice was option 5)

no problem, i think we all hit that wall at the end and thought what did we do wrong? reloaded and tried the others just to see what would happen, and when that didn't work started the internet searches which then just made me angry. so after not having had a bioware account since 2007 i found myself once again signing up just to express my displeasure.xHezz90 wrote...

OK I just had a thought, the ending would have been OK if there was indeed other different endings, the fact is though that it ends the same way no matter what you choose, making the choices made through out the rest of the trilogy pointless (which many of you have stated already) I mean Shepard dying made me cry so much (but I am indeed a big softy and cry at lots of sad things) I even googled "how can I save my Shepard from dying" that was when I found out that the ending is the same no matter what. I then forced myself to replay it again (hearing about "the breath" Shepard gives at the end of the destroy option), I thought "maybe that will make me feel better"......I didn't get it, I don't even know why I didn't get it, all I got was more heart ache as my Shepard whom I worked my ass off to make a paragon and live through ME2, died all over again. Wasn't there supposed to be 16 different endings? what exactly are they?
I am not trying to gripe and I'm sorry if it seems that way but I really am curious on the last part "What exactly are the 16 different endings?"
As always I will Hold The Line.
there really aren't 16 differentendings. just 16 variations on programing code and if/then loops. but the endings are 3 and they are all essentially the same. there is youtube video out there that demonstrates it pretty well, even IGN's own walkthrough points it out really, really well. http://ie.ign.com/wi...ffect-3/Endings
Ah right I see, still disappointing. 16 endings should mean 16 different endings, not the same ending in three pretty colours. Thanks for explaining this to me though

The indoctrination theory might have been knocked down and crushed like an insignificant bug (similar to how our hopes and dreams were) but at this point I don't care. I'll headcanon it and ignore it because my brain just can't accept that the tripped up dream from hell was real and we never had the renegade interrupt option to shoot AI kid in the face.
I dunno, I'm sure even Paragons could get some points with that kind of interrupt, after all the Catalyst is the locus of evil in the ME universe.

I think that would be my favorite, as well. The indoctrination theorists have that Prothean VI that I don't think they can explain away, and with the behind the scenes stuff, it's clear that it was never intended to be an indoctrination sequence. I would love for there to be a fourth option wherein you activate the Crucible, perhaps not to its fullest extent or in some other manner that merely gives your fleets a fighting chance.Goodwood wrote...
Personally I preferred the "refuse the choice/it's another means of control/exhort the fleets to fight on"-type ending to the "zomg ur indoctrinated!" alternative.
Just my two pence.
And from there, EMS takes over, giving the possibility of a LotR or RotJ style ending, provided you worked your tail off for all three games (but also giving the possibility of being completely obliterated and Reapers taking the cycle, if you weren't prepared at all). For all endings though, they need to rework the epilogue, or lack thereof.
Precisely.
The opportunity here for a Crowning Moment of Awesome is immesurable. Just imagine the possibilites for a Shepard speech, delivered with the trademark heartfelt sentiment of the born leader, infusing all those within comm range with the courage to battle their hardest for all those across the galaxy. The Crucible could be used instead as a sort of Reaper magnet, drawing all those nearby closer to the Citadel in a semi-hypnotic state, leaving them relatively easy pickings for the turian, quarian, geth, salarian and asari ships. Meanwhile the human fleets corral the rest into a massive killzone, with the Normandy zig-zagging through, blasting enemy fighters and pounding on the occasional destroyer.
Just imagine what an epicly titanic battle scene that would make for, on top of the awesome cinematics we've already got. The RotJ-style epilogue would be the capper, making it a small, playable area where you can give your final words of advice before announcing your immediate and permanent retirement.

I guess, as always, it is more about hit counts. I was thinking in terms of number of sites that have been neutral or supportive, but gamespot and IGN probably get more traffic in one day than some of the other sites get in a month.vboy23 wrote...

Is it just wishful thinking on my part, or does it seem like, on balance, we may be starting to turn a corner with the media? (feel free to say "what the !@&!# have YOU been drinking???")
For sure forbes has been fair with its articles, and there has been more Websites That at least keep an unbiased approach. It is just upsetting to see the popular gaming sites being crass and even downright insulting. (im looking at you gamespot and ign)
=sigh=
I'm still encouraged that a major business media entity like Forbes has had some of its fleet of bloggers weigh in on our side. Looks like page views are declining on their newer posts, though.
Please, everyone: These bloggers and critics use analytics like page views to decide what to keep writing about. If they see declining interest, they move on. If you haven't read their latest posts, browse on over. Link to them on FB, Twitter, Google+; send links to your friends, whatever.
Any other ideas on how we can help keep this in the news? Maybe we have to remember to hold the line AND keep the banner raised.

A quick check on amazon, shows mass effect 1 being priced at 46.99 for a new copy, Mass effect 2 being priced at 16.85 for a new copy ( private sellers ), and mass effect 3 at 47.65 from private sellers. ME3 is also available for the standard 59.95.Apfelweinbrauer wrote...

There was thread there mentioning that sales of ME3 are already below ME1 on amazon. So i think it is clear that this whole mess is hurting EA financially.
Is this just a rumor or confirmed information?

also this http://www.craveonli...mer-entitlement

Secondly, the same legion of BioWare fans are upset at the endings of Mass Effect 3 -- all 16 of them! Apparently, they don’t live up the the standards set by BioWare’s previous work on the epic sci-fi trilogy, with some vocal fans demanding BioWare create and release new endings that will satiate the BioWare faithful who feel the current endings don’t justify the hundreds of hours logged into the series.
I rarely ever take note of those who apparently did not play the game.

After some thinking i've choose to write a lot, you can read it here: http://social.biowar...61/127#10046430
I think that Bioware have done some wrong step from the first ME1 but i will not talk much about that. There are thing that they haven't foresee, not our love for this series, they've already seen it with ME2. They haven't see what we love of ME3. They need to think more... Hold The line! Which line?
There are so many lines to be hold... the most powerful one is the line that we'll make us like a wall where the bioware end and other people words won't make us crumble from our position. We need to make it clear that this game isn't their alone, it's ours too, we've make it possible, and that's one point.
The bioware have maked it but they have done it because we've bought the others title.
A little magic wand for all of the company.

This has been Posted before, but as a reminder.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock Holmes so he can concentrate on his non-fiction works. His fans petitioned him for almost 10 years, thats right, 10 years and this was way before the internet. Imagine all those letters. He "resurrected" Holmes and proceeded to make the other half of what has become a great literary classic.
In restrospect, we have had only a week. Our charity has over $50k in over 3 days. The letter campaign starts on the 17th. Though i doubt Bioware will wait 10 years, they have better give us a reasonable answer or they will be losing a lot of customers.
When a customer has a satisfying experience, they tell 3-4 friends, but if thu are unsatisfied they tell 10. With 40k people on the poll as a sample population, thats going to be 400k people being told of a bad product. Thats a lot of potenial income that's not easy to shrug off.
