Maybe they will loose a handful of devout fans, but in the big picture it won't hurt them much...

Take back Mass Effect and other forums have a lot of people willing to Boycott. I am not sure if you're not just trying to troll us? The Stocks have proved that Bioware and EA have been damaged by this.

Glad I'm not the only loser that felt true heart break. I was beginning to question my own sanity at how attached I'd gotten to video game characters. I guess I'm still crazy but its nice to know other crazies out there all over the world who are just as off their nut as I am.

you guys are quite obviously not alone. If most of us weren't so attached to characters, would we spend as much time in this support group as we are? I should be working on my DnD game but my heart stll aches after finishing ME3. So here I am helping to hold the line.

Obviously you should end your campaign in a way that makes nothing your players ever did matter, and then force them to commit mass genocide.... with SPACE MAGIC

Don't really know about that, i've purchased some Bioware games in the past, after NWN2 i haven't buyed anything fantasy - related made from em. 

ME is a sci-fi story, never seen anything like that on sci-fi liked it. If they ruin it as it's now i won't buy other sequel.

Cannot tell you numbers, i'm one, you're another, i'm not in other customers head.

To be fair, I picked the first comments in the right order of the site. I`ll quote the japanese letters here as well, dont know it will be coded correctly. For reference you can follow the link,too.

I didnt find really big topics about this on 2ch etc.. just here and there some smaller discussions. so i choose one of the first hits on google to translate. But to be said, the mood is similar at many sites.

First of all there is a "nickname" going around for me3 in the forums,
instead of Masseffect , many people call it became "rent"effect

and sad but true, there are many many rude comments about the homosexual content,many feel very offended by that, so Ill avoid these.

To summerize, its pretty the same picture.
And to add on officlal sites like amazon.co.jp the ratings are pretty high.
But you have to remember that Masseffect overall isnt that popular in Japan.
The official game magazines rates are very high,though for the bigger magazines they even didnt bother to test the game, they simply often translated english reviews AND gave the same score.
on the forums you see a different view of many disappointed people.

Great job man, nice to see the japanese are with us. Anyway if they don't say something this weekend I guess I'll take my copy to gamestop, watch the "fan ending" in youtube (Which is great) and forget about all this. Anyway no more money from me to Bioware.

Actually they would lose a lot more than people think; consumers we are.  We are the ones that end up paying for their paychecks.   Its doesn't just hurt ME; this also hurts MMOs tied to EA; other games.  I know lots are not continueing their subs with TOR until this is settled.

TOR goes from fastest growing MMO; to losing lots of subs very quickly because they didn't handle ME3 well.......

BW can very well pull magic out of the bag on this one; I think they will.....if they don't they loss me as a customer also; that goes for TOR.....which will suck cause I like the game

Horrible weekend of waiting on information is ahead! 
This is weird, today I'm actually a bit abstinent from not playing ME. When I remember all the cool things that happened before ending, and things I've missed in two playthroughs (like discovering that Aethyta is Liara's father, and waking up next to Aria, and - imagine that - I've missed a goodbye dialogue with romanced Kaidan), I want badly to play - with another import, with another class. Think it'll make me feel better for 20+ hours.

And the I'll again be an emotional wreck. Well, this sucks.

Yeah, BUT you will put all that sadness in to it and come to the end and BOOM!!! Pain and heartbreak all over again!!

One of the things about endings I'm surprised hasn't been brought up. I have seen talk about Fallout 3, sherlock holmes, tv shows like house, and movies. Here is a really good example of a fan following not liking versions of a movie: Blade Runner, Blade Runner has two "Happy" Endings, One Ambiguous, A Director's cut, And an Ultimate Edition. All of these versions, which I'm sure I left out one or two, are out there BECAUSE of the fans. Because there was a market for them.If Blade Runner had tanked and never become a cult classic, you wouldn't have these versions today. So just another reason not to lose hope.
