 I'm thinking Shep dies.
If that rumored Single Player DLC is true. I'm betting we'll see another 'mission' like in ME2 where you play as Joker.

Only we'll play as either Hackett, some squadmate, or EDI.
I'm thinking the cutscenes we see are real and that the DLC would expand them.So Shep dies and EDI's like "i can interface with the Crucible and fire it." That then explains why the Normandy left. The cutscene showing it could be them leaving for it.

Now you think whu?

In all most every show where someone dies they show the person taking one last QUICK INHALE. So in the 'Red Choice' Shep could have taken one last breath.

Furthermore, we don't know what all that Proth Beacon did to him back in ME1, it may have activated some latent Psy Ability, the Proths do mention that Humans are pretty advanced. And many species comment on how Humans have come so far in such a short time.

So, back to 'Red Choice'. Shep could have willed the 'Red, Blue, or Green'. And the fact we see him is just his mind "making sense of it". It could be that in Blue and Green he's consciousness is merged with the Reapers either as a co-existence (Green) or a domination (blue). In the 'Red' he may have willed something to go wrong.
And so the 'Red Cutscene' showing him under the rubble is actually him "letting go".

**Now the Normandy could be either returning to the fight after activating the Crucible, which we still don't have much of an idea of what it does. Or they could be on their way there.
Basically, in the end, I don't think there's going to be an option for Shep to live :(

The "breath" scene definitely looked like a resilient inhale to me. Not a sigh of relief. It'll be interesting to see what it is "supposed" to be.

No idea why people are so upset with picture of Tali's face origins. They picked a beautiful woman and remade it perfectly. This BW done very well at least.

yes, very well

until fans found out after five minutes googling for the picutre.
It destroyed every ilusion of Tali being more than just a fictional charakter.

I agree with you on this one.  I would have liked to see it in game, but I have no issues with the picture and how it was presented.

I never actually really cared about this part, just like with the Reaper origin I thought it was just one of those things one could imagine instead.

In the situation just prior to the end of the game, there's no real chance of a 100% happy ending, as, let's face it - even if the Mass Relays don't go, the galaxy is still looking at decades of effort to rebuild, especially as at least three major homeworlds got hit and got hit hard. There's a chunk of inferred holocaust, considering that there's just been a galactic war. For example, look how long it took for people to rebuild after WW2.

What people are after, I believe, is some variety of closure, a broad epilogue of what happened to all the characters that didn't die during the game. For some, this would include Shepard & their LI off doing something appropriate. Others would just quite like the option for at least positive ending without removing the three current endings.

Most of us are aware of this. But for us, and in this situation just like in WW2, a happy ending is that people get a chance to rebuild. A lot of us want to see that happen. We want to see the little miracles which make tragedy all the more bearable. The solitary tree in a scorched park miraculously not touched by the fires of war. The toasts of others remembering their fallen comrades and honoring them.

I agree with you, I wouldn't remove the endings here, I would make them possibilites, but I would give more possibilites. After all, this is fantasy, is it not?

Let me finish for you... I can't even begin to describe how much that resonates with me. It just fits perfectly.
That about right?

They should added Denzel's training day end rant too.

Some people, like myself, aren't even looking for any sort of LI specific ending, because that could potentially fall under the "getting the ending I specifically wanted" banner, and that's not what I want. I just wanted something that was done well. As it stands, the ending is full of plot holes and inconsistences, which means there isn't even a solid foundation for me to "use my imagination on what happened next."

Honestly, I'd take something that dark, bleak and just a tiny bit hopeful if it meant that things were done well (and honestly, that's what I expected when I started playing the game). Hell, I didn't even expect there to be an ending where Shepard lives.

Probably because it was a cheap way out, as was the ripping of the Winter on Mars album cover art.
What is frustrating was that the Bioware devs were retweeting that great deviantart picture of Tali, so the fact they went with stock just kills me inside.  It should definately be patched in mu honest opinion.  Contact that artist and ask for his permission.  A Mass Effect fan you know he will say yes.

I'd be happy if Tali and Shep jumped into the beam together, or embraced as the citadel blew up. It'd be tragic but at least they were together at the end.

(read LI for Tali if you romanced someone else)

Well, I suppose, they could've spend a little bit more time on making her 3D model, at least to for her to appear in love scene, because it doesn't seem natural at all. I mean the camera angles are always like "yeah, she took of her mask, so what? no, we're not going to show Tali's face to you, go to hell!" and, well...You gotta see this for yourself. As I said, it doesn't seem even a bit natural.

The mass relays is just one of the many glaring polt holes if you want to keep the endings as is. The gamefront article about the 5 reasons stated it best but to snip from it"

But in The Arrival, it was firmly established that the destruction of a
Mass Relay would result in an explosion resembling a supernova,
destroying the relay’s star system. In Mass Effect 3′s ending, the Mass
Relays are destroyed in explosions so massive that they’re depicted as
being visible from a perspective that resembles the Normandy’s Galaxy
Map. Which means that Shepard has probably killed more life forms than
the Reapers could on their best cycle..

I know you weren't arguing against that or anything. I just came back to hold the line and every time I see mention of the mass relays and holocaust it reminds me of this. Of how aside from any heart string reasons, I can't pick an ending in my 2nd playthrough because I don't want to kill more beings than they ever have.

I agree with your post about the endings and what people seem to want.

I personally *want* a happy ending where my LI and I retire together. My Shep said it best when she said she was tired of saving the galaxy. What I *need* though are closure endings. Fine, my Shep will die if she has to, she had a good last moment with her LI. But let her sacrifice mean something. Let the other people I've sacrificed for be shown at their reunion party or whatever.

I'm just beating a dead horse I know but I think it's good to remind people and newcomers that we aren't asking to tear down what they have already, we just want some meaningful closure.

One question to synthesis ending: Shep is human so how can be his DNA/implants used to synthetize Asari, Turian and other species?

All biotics use Dark Energy im assuming it would go along those lines.

Not that it matters anyway because its not real! ;)

No way did they pull this craptastic ending without the Indocrination theory being true. No studio could be that dumb.

Well, I do agree that no studio could be that dumb. Is it like everyone at BW was satisfied with this ending? I mean it's not normal at all. It's not normal for us, and I think for them, too. Think about it: they created that very galaxy, have been putting so much hard work in it for 5 freakin' years, and they're like ruining it by themselves in the matter of minutes for no good reason. yeah, one person could do that (assuming it's all his work), but BW is a company with a lot of people, and if someone decides to "destroy everything" like this, anyone else would stand up, because it is their hard work, too.

explanation could be as simple as group think, especially if up against fame length and time constraints

Does someone still have that picture of someone trolling the ME Twitter, by saying he liked the game, and then when ME Twitter replied he said something like: "Can't believe you fell for that"?

Especially because if they've been out there for millions of years, there's only so much one can discover about their origins. It's normal not to get the whole story.

I still feel that it would've been so COOL if during certain spot on earth....your ex/current comrade's would've been shown fighting (like Jack using her biotics to blast clear the way, Miranda shooting some indoctrinated enemies, etc). Ugh.....that would've made things more epic to see your team ACTUALLY fighting on the battlefield.
