I bet the ending is just a sequence in the game, they just cut off the rest ,except the Normand crash. I guess this was supposed to be the end.

Makes sense to me, this explains why my teammates were onboard,

The Final Hours of Mass Effect shows this was intended. The community has written them an out with the Indoc theory though.

No it doesn't, not entirely.

The FH stuff was NOT produced or released by Bioware, and the information it contains is several months pre-release and a rough draft in any case.

In other words it does not 'prove' that this was always intended to be the 'final' ending of the game. They could well have decided to make changes after this point, or BW might simply have removed any references to a 'fake' ending from the material they provided to the journalist who produced the FH stuff.

It's pretty funny in a way that the ending alluded to in Final Hours took them months of work to finish (since I believe the info was from 6 months ago) and 'refine' into the ending we got. The fans though were able to come up with a satisfying ending within a few days of release for no pay...

Heck - the far east crowd is very, very quiet on this matter. That doesn't sound good.

They are far from quiet, and are shouting as loudly as we are and saying the same thing. Of course they are not shouting in English, nor do many of them speak/write English, so they are not posting on here.

They get game yesterday? If yes, I don't think that they ended it.

Only reason i can't think of for Bioware's approach to PR concerning the ending is that they think all of this won't somehow effect the bottom line too badly. People have all ready paid.
Now, if the game we were complaining about was a mmo, you'd see an official response within days if people started cancelling accounts en masse.

Which is the simpler, more likely scenario? Most brilliant mind bending exercise in gaming history, OR, the ending is just really that bad.

Ok i wasn't sure if anybody noticed this but I saw something the second time I saw the ending.
While the stargazer and child are discussing, the ending comment was
child: "tell me another story about the Shepard"
stargazer:"its getting late, but one more story..."
then it fades to the sky. Could it be suggesting that a possible DLC will tell this "other story"?

Joker walks out of the normandy, and it looks like you are about to play as him.
Compare to many other scenes throughout the game, where the cutscene ends on shepard, and you continue right after the cutscene.
 at 8:37.

It's a longshot but hey, i'll take anything.

True, earlier we had someone who could speak japanese scrolling through japanese forums and they seemed just as pissed about the endings as we are.

Good Point!!!! All we got in the other hand is Spacechild...

Edit. /lol, I must be really tired, or in dire need of professional help. Just typed "in the other hand" instead of "on the other hand."

Somenone please call 911...

But I will hold the line...

Yeah they are in this fight with us, we just have the language barriers that stop us from all talking on one forum.\\

They are holding the line right along with us.

I actually disagree with something in that article. I LOATHE the whole war assets mechanic. I would much rather have strip mined everything in sight and reduced everything not nailed down to omni gel if it meant getting an ending that fit what my Shep had been working towards. The whole WA thing enrages me honestly, it basically tells me rather than make my choices, I have to make pre determined choices to get the ending that fits me. Essentially throwing out what I love about RPGs. Even after completing everything I could (my second time even going by walkthrough sadly and NG+) I was still a couple of hundred points short of the min needed for the ending that best fit because of the choices I made earlier in the games. I made them because they seemed *right* in my heart. I should not have to min/max to get an enjoyable ending imo.

I'd probably hate the whole WA thing less if it didn't completely derail my choices.

I'm with you on this one! They've simply done it the easy way... <_<

Some interesting stats from here;

This thread has averaged 211 pages per day

The official endings thread from Bioware has 156 pages per day.

bioware what did you do?

I will fully admit, Bioware turned me into a sheep Albeit an internally raging against sheepdom but I have full on wool and baaaaaah.

As much as I hate the endings of ME3, as much as I have been railing against making pre set choices rhather than the ones I *want* to make, guess what I'm doing? I started up ME against last night even though I have no interest in the stupid Mako, dodging thresher maws or my sniper rifle sliding all over creation. I will kill Wrex even though it feels so wrong to me. I will make every choice needed from here on out to get the 4k WA needed for the special ending.

WHY am I being a sheep despite my railing against these concepts? Simple Paranoia. I can watch the ending where maybeShep takes a breath on youtube but what if I need that specific save for something in the future? I have to have one actual save of my own to use even if I hate the journey of getting to there.

I'd actually argue that Bioware has been extremely successful. I have been Indoctrinated. I may rail against it all but I'm still replaying this **** the way THEY want me to.
