Well, it could also be the merge ending. And his rifle may become part organic. Ol' Jessie and Zaeed can finally start a family!

Are we sure the crew end up stranded even if Shep is alive? I know there's no other bink video file, but are we sure that file plays in EVERY ending? Could it not be replaced by something that isn't pre-rendered?

I havn't seen the video nor do I want to, but things just don't add up. You may as well just have killed everyone that shep cares about. Joker is basically dead without medical supplies for his condition, garrus and tali will starve, liara will never see her kind again until she dies in 1000 years, and the rest of the crew doesn't have enough to make a viable population. Two of them are homosexual, are they supposed to have intercourse with other people just to have kids? 

It doesn't make any sense to kill off everyone your shep cares about when you have been building up these relationships the entire 3 games.

I'm fine with the idea that in most of the endings you get screwed over in some way, in fact I sort of expected it given how much it would cheapen the menace of the Reapers if you had an easy time of making it out of the war scott free. The whole separation issue smells like DLC to me.....the protheans made the conduit....a mass relay not built by the reapers. It may also end up being a play past the ending DLC in the style of Fallout 3 if the Normandy gets fixed up. Fallout 3's best selling DLC was the one that fixed the ending and people will be asking for romance DLC more than ever now so look forward to it.

This whole thing reminds me of the ending of Thor(movie).....

They already said that DLC will occur before the final fight. Kinda like DA:O

Actually, while I above removed possible new information on why your crew maters wouldn't be with you at the game's end, I will say that what I was going to post makes the ending make more sense. As I said, context is everything, as is seeing how everything plays out with your own eyes.

Don´t get me wrong, i HATE those endings, every one of it.

BUT, I don´t get why everybody assumes the normandy crew is doomed. All we see is the crew (not even the entire crew, only joker 2 squadmates (+edi)) walking out of the normandys hatch. 
They DO have supplies on the normandy
The planet they land on COULD have people living on it
For all we know, the planet could have a freaking STARGATE on it

The old man talking with the boy could happen even after a "happy" ending. Since it's in the future, it can be after almost any ending (I still can't get why it would appear after the merge).

Why have both an in-game outfit that's the same as the cutscene's if you aren't going to use it?

The old man talking to the boy is even named something like end04. So it is definetely seperate from all the endings.

If this uniform can be seen in an in-game scene as well then maybe shepard lives to see his friends after all???

*Hopes/prays like never before* I hope, I really hope there's an ending to what you're describing. That's how I envisioned Sheps journey to end. Almost dead but alive enough to help rebuild the aftermath of the Reapers....

As it seems people noticed my original post before I edited it out, the gist is that the squad members you have with you leave you as they think you are dead, from what I can make out.

As the video linked seems to show an injured Shepard, that information would support it.

So, for me personally, it makes sense why they wouldn't be with you.

In a way, I'm actually glad the endings are true. Cat's out of the bag and fans are pissed off. Now EA/Bioware is trying to contain the situation. One way to fix this mess: Broken-Steel DLC!

WHAT IS GOING ON!?

The Normandy has to the Charon relay prior to Shep activating the Crucible. Why? I don't know. They get through just as the relays bug out. All tech related to eezo then dies. They crash on this planet and the crew ends up forming this colony. The epilogue is in the future and the guy is telling the kid how people used to fly in space. The kid then asks to hear the story of Shepard again. That's what I can price together from the leaks anyway.
