Hopefully the paste works on this for once...if not give me a minute to go back and edit this all to work.

So someone posted an article that mentioned Lord of the Rings and the council of Elrond, and I was inspired to make this rewrite. Found the script for the scene from the movie and made a few revisions. It's not perfect, but it made me chuckle a few times doing it. Enjoy!

<The following morning, at the Council of Elrond. Gandalf Forbes and Frodo along with a congregation of Men, Elves and Dwarves sit in a semi-circle around a stone pedestal.>

<<Elrond: Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Bioware. Mass Effect stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall. Each gamer is bound to this fate--this one doom. <gestures to the pedestal/DVD player> Bring forth the video, Frodo.>>

<Frodo rises and inserts a DVD into pedestal/DVD player.>

<<Man of the South: So it is true.. .>>

<Frodo returns to his seat beside Gandalf Forbes. He seems relieved. The members of the Council watch the video of Mass Effect 3’s endings, mesmerized by it. It appears to start whispering to each of them in turn. Each person hears it differently.>

<<Unidentified Man : The Doom of Men>>

<<Man of the South: <rises to address the Council> In a dream, I saw the eastern sky grow dark. But in the West a pale light lingered. A voice was crying: Your doom is near at hand. (He approaches the DVD player on the plinth.) Shepard's Bane is found.>>

<The Man reaches out towards the eject button. Gandalf Forbes and Elrond exchange concerned looks. The Man's fingers hover above the button.>

<<Man: Shepard's Bane...>>

<Elrond leaps up.>

<<Elrond (loudly): Boromir!>>

<The DVD player utters a harsh chant. Gandalf Forbes suddenly stands up and also begins the chant in Black PR Speech. Thunder crackles as the sky darkens. The Council stare around them in fear and confusion.>

<<Gandalf Forbes:
Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul,
ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.

One Piece of Art to rule them all, One Piece of Art to find them,
One Piece of Art to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them. >>

<The voice of the DVD player dies away. People resume their seats, horrified, Boromir amongst them. Elrond rebukes Gandalf Forbes strongly.>

<<Elrond: Never before has any voice uttered the words of that tongue here in Imladris!>>

<<Gandalf: (voice raspy from the force of the words and the language): I do not ask your pardon, Master Elrond, for the Black PR Speech of Bioware may yet be heard in every corner of the West! The Ending is altogether Evil!>>

<He gives Boromir a final scathing glance and resumes his seat. Boromir is unperturbed.>

<<Boromir: It is a gift. A gift to the foes of Bioware. Why not use this Ending? <paces> Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor, kept the forces of Bioware at bay. By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe! Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy. Let us use it against him!>>

<<Aragorn: You cannot wield it! None of us can. The One Ending answers to Casey Hudson alone. It has no other master.>>

<<Boromir: And what would a biotic know of this matter?>>

<An Asari stands suddenly. She is recognizable as the Asari Gandalf Forbes saw from Elrond's window.>

<<Asari: This is no mere biotic. He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance.>>

<<Boromir: Aragorn? This... is Isildur's heir?>>

<<Asari: And heir to the throne of Gondor.>>

<Frodo looks wide-eyed at Aragorn.>

<<Aragorn: Havo dad, Legolas (Sit down, Legolas.)>>

<<Boromir: Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king.>>

<returns to his seat>

<<Gandalf: Aragorn is right. We cannot use it.>>

<<Elrond: You have only one choice. The Ending must be rewritten.>>

<<Krogan: Then what are we waiting for?>>

<The Krogan grabs a pen and approaches the pedestal.>

<<Krogan: ARGH!!!!>>

<He strikes the DVD player with full force but is repelled back, throwing him to the ground. Concurrently, Frodo sees the Eyes of Casey Hudson in his mind and winces in pain. The Ending remains intact with the shards of the pen all around it. Whispers in the black tongue issue forth from the Ending.>

<<Elrond: The Ending cannot be rewritten, Gimli, son of Glóin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ending was made in the fires of Casey Hudson’s computer. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Bioware and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came.>>

<<The Ending (whispers): Ash Nazg>>

<<Elrond: One of you must do this.>>

<Dead silence from the council>
<<Boromir: One does not simply walk into Bioware. Its black gates are guarded by more than just security guards. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland. Riddled with fire and ash and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand fans could you do this. It is folly!>>

<<Legolas: <stands indignantly> Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The Ending must be rewritten!>>

<<Gimli: <leaps to his feet> And I suppose you think you're the one to do it?!>>

<<Boromir: <rises> And if we fail, what then?! What happens when Casey Hudson takes back what is his?!>>

<<Gimli: I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Asari!>>

<Commotion starts as arguments erupt amongst the council members.>

<<Gimli: Never trust an Asari!>>

<<Gandalf Forbes: Do you not understand that while we bicker amongst ourselves, Casey Hudson 's power grows?! None can escape it! You'll all be destroyed!>>

<Frodo remains seated, watching the Ending uneasily, the angry figures of the council reflected on television’s surface. Suddenly, flames flare up, engulfing the surface of the television.>

<<The Ending: Ash Nazg Durbatulûk! Ash Nazg Gimbatul! Ash Nazg Gimbatul! Ash Nazg Gimbatul! (I’m art! I’m art!)>>

<The intensity of the arguments increase. Slowly, determination dawns on Frodo’s face. He stands and takes a few steps toward the arguing council, trying to make his voice heard above the din.>

<<Frodo: I will take it! I will take it!>>

<The argument dies down. Gandalf Forbes closes his eyes as he hears Frodo’s statement. The members of the council slowly turn towards Frodo, astonished.>

<<Frodo: I will take the Ending to Bioware. Though-- I do not know the way.>>

<<Gandalf Forbes: <walks towards Frodo> I will help you bear this burden, Frodo Baggins, as long as it is yours to bear <places his hands reassuringly on Frodo’s shoulders.>>>

Hey all. I just want to make sure everyone hears about the letter campaign so we can, en masse, show BioWare that our protests won't die down until they make amends.

Address:
BioWare Edmonton
200-4445 Calgary Trail NW
Edmonton AB
Canada T6H 5R7

E-mail:
contact@bioware.com

Though, send a paper letter if you can. It will make more of an impact.

Speaking of which... Does anyone know how much postage it is to mail a letter from the US to Canada?

three stamps should do it. 1.17$ i think

The player's also the architect of what happens."Whether you're happy or angry at the ending, know this: it is an ending. BioWare will not do a "Lost" and leave fans with more questions than answers after finishing the game, Gamble promised."You'll get answers to everything. That was one of the key things. Oh, no they don't!  They are not pinning the blame for this ending on me!  :lol:

And that's the reason, the endings are so horrible, because Casey focuses on his carrier as singer :D

Odd considering the comic itself today is labeling us with the "They just want a sunshine and rainbows ending" tag.

See, I don't think it is. PA tends to like absurdism. They just took the idea of a "happy ending" DLC and ran away with it. Ran way away with it.

Agreed, we aren't here to bash on anyone, that won't help us at all in the long run.

Hold the line!

There's a realm of dark space underneath Shepard's dress apparently. Wonder if there are any Reapers hiding in there?

Wow, Forbes just has got our back on this lately.  Kind of nice - we've got enough people debating the merits of the endings themselves, but not as many sticking up for why it's okay to go all the way and stand up and say no, not good enough.

Nice read. You know I was thinking...if we win this, this'll put pressure on game companies to make better products and deliver on their promises. A victory for consumers. I don't get why our detractors don't see this :pinched:

Funny... all the media that is against us, lean heavily on the "artistic integrity" nonsene... weak.

I like to point out that artists who cannot sell their work are quickly known as starving artists.  lol

This is the problem with artistic integrity as a defense for ME3:

Artist: Hey! I'm painting this masterpiece of a spaceship in battle.  But you can't see the final product until you buy it! I promise it will be amazing, though.  You can see the quality of my work in the past.

Consumer: Hmm alright then. *gives money*

Artist:  Here ya go!  *hands over painting*

Consumer: Its a painting of a horse.  On a unicyle.

Artist: Its a flying unicycle, though.

Consumer: I don't get it?  Where's the spaceship you promised?

Artist:  It's ART.  Use your imagination!!

Come on folks - this is far more bitter FOR BW than any of them could have ever imagined. ME3 turned out to be an utter disaster world wide - that has to very, very bitter for them. It is no wonder why they kep hoping things would get better first as Europe released which turned out to be the same reaction as North and South America. Their last hope for redemption rested on the far East which is also turning into an utter disaster for BW - and now those results are beginning to show the exact same reaction as those of us here on this thread and others.

This is a BETTER, BITTER blow for BW and its more than understandable for them to be so silent as they have - it is far worst than any of them could ever have imagine.

I'd feel as sorry for them as I feel for us if they weren't holding all the cash at the end.  <_<
