The old man talking with the boy could happen even after a "happy" ending. Since it's in the future, it can be after almost any ending (I still can't get why it would appear after the merge).

Why have both an in-game outfit that's the same as the cutscene's if you aren't going to use it?

The old man talking to the boy is even named something like end04. So it is definetely seperate from all the endings.

If this uniform can be seen in an in-game scene as well then maybe shepard lives to see his friends after all???

*Hopes/prays like never before* I hope, I really hope there's an ending to what you're describing. That's how I envisioned Sheps journey to end. Almost dead but alive enough to help rebuild the aftermath of the Reapers....

Yeah, I'd like that too, but the whole thing with the Normandy, since people say they drop on the same planet we see in the final bink video. And how else would it tie with "the story of the Shepherd" the kid wants to hear, if it's not one of the Normandy's descendants? Although, we don't know how famous Shepard would be after destroying the Reapers, but on the other hand, it's very Mad Max.

I still wish there's a way to have Shepard and the Normandy and crew together in the end.

WHAT IS GOING ON!?

The Normandy has to the Charon relay prior to Shep activating the Crucible. Why? I don't know. They get through just as the relays bug out. All tech related to eezo then dies. They crash on this planet and the crew ends up forming this colony. The epilogue is in the future and the guy is telling the kid how people used to fly in space. The kid then asks to hear the story of Shepard again. That's what I can price together from the leaks anyway.

Hm... that's so ambiguous that it could be on a different planet from anything (if the Normandy somehow doesn't get stranded?). Although, who would talk about Shepard's story than someone who knew him/her...?  :/

I'd expect Team Dextro to know by now that Shepard doesn't stay dead.

Since there is only one Shepard survival ending, there should also be a Normandy not being stranded far away ending with it.

Ow... now that I imagine it... it IS bitter sweet. It shouldn't be the only good ending though.

I'm fine with the idea that in most of the endings you get screwed over in some way, in fact I sort of expected it given how much it would cheapen the menace of the Reapers if you had an easy time of making it out of the war scott free. That said, I REALLY hope there is an ending that is at least 'mildly' happy for the Normandy and her crew. Otherwise I see another FO3 scenario where people flat out refuse to accept the endings available and headcanon in their own.

The whole separation issue smells like DLC to me.....the protheans made the conduit....a mass relay not built by the reapers. At this point I have little doubt that there will be some kind of reunion/romance based DLC.....people were asking for it in ME2 and the BioWare cofounders said they liked the idea and thought of doing it. It may also end up being a play past the ending DLC in the style of Fallout 3 if the Normandy gets fixed up. Fallout 3's best selling DLC was the one that fixed the ending and people will be asking for romance DLC more than ever now so look forward to it.

This whole thing reminds me of the ending of Thor(movie).....

They already said that DLC will occur before the final fight. Kinda like DA:O

So there you have it, nothing much to be overly upset about.....it sucks to be separated from LI for now but it'll be fixed soon enough.

If this game does not deliver without 400$ of DLC.. it's the last Bioware game I'll ever buy... and I'm one of these annoying Bioware fanboys.

All eezo-based tech turning off? Wouldn't that include the cybernetic parts in Shepard?

 here is what i was asking about on one of the past pages.
on lines 2-5 it goes little into the outcome of the sword fleet and hammer squad. could it be that their were survivors from hammer squad if you get the score where Shepard lives? if so that would make my personal headcanon with Artemis a valid one for her: She hits the red (destroy) button, survives and the meets up with an ex-girlfriend of hers, who joined up with hammer squad to help Shepard and miraculously survived herself, and they get back together.

That short clip could be proof of something else; the child theme in Mass 3 we have seen. Maybe this is Shepard having a flashback or memory of being a child. The lack of sound is certainly suspect. And this flashback can be the very driving memory that has pushed Shep through so much.

It's a great scene but it doesn't conclude much. If someone had shown me the end of ET before I had ever seen it; I wouldn't have ever thought it to be a kid show. A future,"he saved us;" wouldn't be bad either.

As long as the Normandy doesn't get destroyed, I'm okay with these endings. You have all of the brightest and bravest in the galaxy stuck in Sol? They'll figure something out.

I would agree with this, though I never saw the threads on ME 2's ending. I was, unfortunately, privvy to others complaining about other parts of the game.

So yes, I can understand people not liking the endings. At the same time, I think with the extra bit of information given now, it makes sense that Shepard would be left alone leading to the Normandy and crew ending up in the position they do if that is indeed the only outcome.

Basically, bad endings will not weaken the entire game. I firmly believe it won't. You'll have 20 - 40 hours of game time and much of it could be one hell of an experience. An experience that may also help hit home the fact that there has to be very heavy hitting sacrifices. Again, it's about taking the game as a whole and putting everything into context.

Yeah, but the leakers have already said it's the final scene and the kid asks to hear the story of Shepard / The Shepherd (?) again.

hey guys, on the pastebin of the endings it was said that the fate of the Sword and Hammer, sword being the fleets, Hammer being the ground forces, is dependent on the EMS, which i belive is based off the GAW and Galactic Readiness scores. If Shepard Survives, the fate of Both sword&hammer is good as the score at which Shepard is higher than the scores needed for their fates to be determined.

Any truth, because i would think that Shepards of both genders could find a new LI post game if it is true, and there are survivors of sword/hammer.
