So we can't get the ending we want after all?

it's logic. you want to keep shepard and make mass effect 4, 5, and 6 so you can keep milking the cow, but you don't want the crew
It's still like Mad Max 2.
Alone and people who knew you telling stories about you. But you'll never see them again.

That short clip could be proof of something else; the child theme in Mass 3 we have seen. Maybe this is Shepard having a flashback or memory of being a child. The lack of sound is certainly suspect. And this flashback can be the very driving memory that has pushed Shep through so much.
It's a great scene but it doesn't conclude much. If someone had shown me the end of ET before I had ever seen it; I wouldn't have ever thought it to be a kid show. A future,"he saved us;" wouldn't be bad either.
Afraid not. It's an epilogue. Its mined data hence end004 as the file name. There's no sound because the video files don't have sound. The dialog and scene I mentioned above is directly from the leaked script. I wouldn't have even needed to read the recent leaks because I read the script ages ago and even when I saw the still I knew it was that scene. Sorry to burst your bubble on that front.

the "perfect" ending which was talked about often by the devs would have been insanely difficult to accomplish, and is basically your Hollywood Happily ever after.
sh*tload of death, mayhem and havoc, but Shep survies and lives to tell the tale with the surviving squadmates and LI. The state of the galaxy is still not completely screwed aka with Mass Relays and FTL. To achieve pre-Reaper-Invasion status, the galaxy's rebuilding efforts would take ~50 to 100 years
second best ending would have beend something like Shep dies through self-sacrifice, squad and LI surives (or LI dies with Shep), even more death, destruction and rubble, but Mass Relays and FTL are still intact. rebuilding would take even more time.
neutral ending: Shep and LI die as well as the Squadmates on the Normandy/on Earth. Nordmandy is destroyed by going kamikaze on a reaper or whatevs. Only way to achieve victory nonetheless was to blow up the relays and possibly take out FTL.
Additionally, general devastation of the galaxy would be unimaginable, but the various races would still pull through and eventually adjust to rebuilding their home planets and a more local economy/space travel
worst ending: Shep fails, Reapers win, everybody gets "Salvation through destruction".
IMO, something like that would make sense and reward the player, instead of giving him basically the exact same ending with tiny variations that all suck donkey balls at the end of the day.

It's the man child talking about the shepard, at least thats what is supposed to be.
I'm thinking of it as the "Beyond Thunderdome" ending.

Guys, calm down. Confirming two ending videos will not unmake the entire game. I swear, this is just like when ME2 came out.
I would agree with this, though I never saw the threads on ME 2's ending. I was, unfortunately, privvy to others complaining about other parts of the game.
So yes, I can understand people not liking the endings. At the same time, I think with the extra bit of information given now, it makes sense that Shepard would be left alone leading to the Normandy and crew ending up in the position they do if that is indeed the only outcome.
Basically, bad endings will not weaken the entire game. I firmly believe it won't. You'll have 20 - 40 hours of game time and much of it could be one hell of an experience. An experience that may also help hit home the fact that there has to be very heavy hitting sacrifices. Again, it's about taking the game as a whole and putting everything into context.
And I have on good faith that there is a "good" ending. Hell, even the official strategy guide says as such.

Basically, yes... but by the looks of it, it will only be the ending of the Normandy and her crew... not the rest of the galaxy. BW already stated they whant to use the IP further, that would be hardly possible with a galaxy that reverted to the stone age... so to speak...

Before the whole leak stuff appeared I envisioned some kind of ranked ending system based on your achievments in the game and possibly your decisions in the previous games.

*Hopes/prays like never before* I hope, I really hope there's an ending to what you're describing. That's how I envisioned Sheps journey to end. Almost dead but alive enough to help rebuild the aftermath of the Reapers....
Yeah, I'd like that too, but the whole thing with the Normandy, since people say they drop on the same planet we see in the final bink video. And how else would it tie with "the story of the Shepherd" the kid wants to hear, if it's not one of the Normandy's descendants? Although, we don't know how famous Shepard would be after destroying the Reapers, but on the other hand, it's very Mad Max.
I still wish there's a way to have Shepard and the Normandy and crew together in the end.
Yeah me too! I wonder if those people ARE the descendants then from the Normandy. Great. So my Shep is dead/alive/trapped somewhere and the Normandy is alive/trapped somewhere else forever. It's a really painful way for me to see the end of the series THIS way but I guess it would be the real PARAGON ending.
Except everybody lived their lives away from those they loved. *Sigh* This is still ****ing depressing~
