Apart from generating this 'bad publicity', the FTC complaint wouldn't get off the ground in any case, because, well, there really is no provable 'false advertising' here.
Perhaps what's taken place is more like getting screwed over by a friend, rather than a breach of our rights as consumers. It's a matter of morals, not legality. So---I'm afraid pushing for the latter would end up in the other party saying "we did not employ any of those words [in press releases, interviews, advertisements, packaging, etc.] in the way you happen to think we did." -- So, well, essentially a stalemate.
It doesn't matter if it gets off the ground or not at this point, unless steps are taken to SHOW that the retake mass effect movement does not support this, then it is incredably damaging to us.
Look I see it like this..... does every guy from Bioware, IGN, any and every reviewer agree with everything that every reviewers says? Even Fred from the mail room? If they don't see this "movement" is 50K+ people who all have a slightly different take on things it's us who should make fun of them. And really who said this guy is PART of the movement at all? Did he file in the name of the movement. If he can file it means he can file it's he has the right to do that thats real US backed entitlement (real word not the fake one reviewers like to use). I would be more worried that the movement wants to stop people from using their voice anyway they see fit, then about having to tell some blogger who was looking for a story what every person in the movement thinks in every case.
Who decides the rules of the Movement who is our leader? I think posting links that show us in bad light getting those sites more face time is bad. I think quoting silly nothing tweets is bad and leads to all sorts of wild ideas. I don't feel like filing anything at all but he's his own guy he doesn't answer to me or the movement. I try to get on with everyone here just because mostly I like everyone here doesn't mean I agree with everything off hand. I personaly thing ID theory is crap but I don't post on their topics because it's their thing not mine not ours. This guy did his thing not my thing, not our thing, why should we, or will we get involved?
Let the site run it's lil review without our added 10s of thousands of hits. Let them pretend that every guy who ever said EA is evil is every guy in the movement, Let them try to logic one post of 900000000000 is one guy speaking for us all. It's bad reporting at best jumping on it only gives it a sort of truth.

I don't think there's anything 'uncivil' about filing that complaint. But it's thoroughly futile, as it simply is not possible to make a conclusive case for false advertising.
What's at stake here is really a moral issue, not a legal one. One can get screwed over by a trusted party, without infringement on any of his rights.
Given the circumstances, it's obvious that the trolling media would jump on this as an excuse to bash us.

You know that Marauder that shoots you in the arm after you acquire the magical infinite ammo gun? That was the brave Marauder Shields. He was trying to stop you from reaching the ending. He tried to save you from depression and general skull-****ery. And he was the first to give his life holding the line.
Remember his sacrifice. Hold the line.

Very nice that Forbes is giving us (and Bioware...not for the endings, but for the fact the made the series so interactive) more good media coverage.

PS someone asked what the FTC is. It is the federal trade commission. It regulates trade and is the agency in charge of protecting consumer rights in the US.

It's the last guy you kill before the game takes a nosedive into crap.
It is a Marauder, and at the bottom it says Shields to represent shields

It'll be okay.
Anybody who actually comes poking around to see how we feel will find out the truth. Anybody who doesn't bother isn't going to be convinced no matter what we say anyhow.
Absolutly true. Thanks.

Once again Forbes is really onto to the core facts here. Our protest IS great for the entire gaming industry. In the long run this is worth all the pin and sorrow we yet have to endure - this is a protest EVER GAMING company is watching very, very closely. As is the press. The outcome we achieve will fail and the gaming industry will continue their same old tired rountine - or we will succeed and change gaming for the better all around.IxSITHxI wrote...

It's not too surprising that someone snapped and did that. Nothing big will come of it though (besides some game "journalists" using that against us) so we shouldn't worry. Plus, I'm sure Bioware knows our group here wouldn't do something like that. At least I hope they know.

It's more disturbning that this is publically retweeted by the official ME twitter, with no comment on the vulgarity. More evidence it's just a bot, or that Bioware enjoys slyly publicising anything that insults us. Pisses me off. We've made a serious effort to keep this clean and respectful, and Bioware spits in our eye for it. I'm gonna try to cool down over the weekend, cause I opened the page to cancel my SWTOR account like 3 times in the last 10 minutes.WvStolzing wrote...

Idiot.

Why did you make me think about that again?
I don't normally get emotional to much of anything, but this game made a grown man start to tear up numerous times.
Even the ending, as bad as it was, made me think about what could of have been after the fact.

When all the characters say things like Mordin about the seashells...well as odd as it sounds it feels like you were talking to a friend, someone you know. This game is so powerful, thats why the ending hurt so much.
