Yes, I did wonder at the 16 different when three would have worked, live/LI, die/reaper win, die/reaper lose. how hard is that? I didn't need the inevitability lecture.TamiBx wrote...

So we can't get the ending we want after all?

I'd like to politely disagree with that PR dude who thinks this weekend was brought up at the last second.
First off TOR has their major 1.2 patch coming out, they've been advertising the free weekend for like a month now if I recall.
Second - The art for the N7 weekend would have had to be submitted to Microsoft a couple weeks ago to get on the xbox 360 - it's on the dashboard right now. It was probably planned to coincide when most people would be finishing the single player game, to get them interested in the multiplayer one
I suspect we're seeing monsters in the shadows in this instance.. bit of paranoia creeping in.
It would have been a tactic either way at a later point. I doubt they expected the consumer base to be this upset.
It was just marketing though... wasn't PR spin is what I'm saying. We don't throw stuff at passing busses just because they tell us to use Dove Soap... though some of us could use soap this week *glares down the line at the guys trying to grow epic beards*

building on a thought, i actually put the entire blame for this fiasco directly on the people who thought mixing gaming genres was a good idea. what is exceptable in a shooter is not exceptable in an rpg. story matters, logic matters, and you can't take soyalent green, call it people reaper paste and expect me to be so busy running around shooing at monsters that I don't notice.
What? Story and logic matter in shooters just as much as they do in RPGs. The only difference between the two is one is linear and one is not.

Exactly.
It can still be bitter without Shep dying and/or everyone in the galaxy getting screwed. And like I said before, there should be a WIDE range of choices that ALLOWS the player to end Shep's story the way they want. Something Bioware missed the mark on...to say the least.
And again, DA:O is the perfect example. You actually decide the fate of the Warden....and we should be able to decide the fate of Shep. There are enough aspects of the story that makes it bitter yet it completely lacks the "sweet" part. Some people find the ending hopeful....and I just don't understand that.

Just being able to tell a good story seems to be going the way of the dinasour. I always found the end of winnie the pooh to be bittersweet. Christopher Robbin grows up and leaves the forest. No bizarre philosophical god/children, just life.WvStolzing wrote...

They are usually writen by ignorant people, who just think being pretentious is an art form. People who never opened a book about philosophy, theology or anything really, they just think they can talk about it. It's really just depressing.
And, sadly, ME3 suffers from that. It's a pretentious ending, with no real "meat" to eat.
Absolutely. Also the 'immutability of the artwork' BS is itself a display of sheer ignorance.
Exactly. And why? Because just after you read (a lot) about these subjects is that you can come with something deep, but unpretentious. Simple, but deep and touching.
And that's not what happened in ME3. When that dialogue starts, you just know where it's leading. The amount of nothing contained in a badly writen speech, where a complete philosophical ignorance leads to incapacity to clear up the issues. It goes in circles and ends with nothing. But with a lot of pretension.

i agree with this, i wanted to feel good at the end, beat the odds, settle down with LI etc, instead i felt terrible and really sad and had to stop playing:crying: good ending should have been in the game, on the reverse for people who want it an ending where the reapers win should be there if you do completely horribleTamiBx wrote...

i also think, that because of the endings, mordin and thanes sacrifices were pretty much for nothing/devalued

I don't either. You want your Shepard to die? That option should be available for you (as it was in ME2). You want your Shepard to live? That option should also be available.
And yes, DA:O had all of those options...it was perfect. Everything you did tied up really well at the end. Why can't that happen in ME3? Why do they have to make everything so...linear? Die die and die?

Did you watch the whole review? He is playing a character "Angry Joe" and at times he does get a little hyperbolic but it is a well thought out and balanced review. He points out both the positives and negatives of the game.
