I first heard of the original Mass Effect from a friend who played it on the 360, before there was a PC port. Despite his rave review, I had decided to pass since it was a console exclusive. Thankfully the rEApers made the choice to release the PC version eventually. And while I sympathize with you totally (t'was in the same boat for a good while), at some point we should at least try to muster our courage and get back out into the game world and have some fun.
Even if it isn't Mass Effect.

And you're right about the weird unlocking system. I don't understand why you have to pay in-game credits to get avatars from other species. That, and the Ops Survival Pack—there seems to be no way to activate those.
Ops Survival Packs are activated via pressing Right on the D-Pad whenever you don't have full health and shields.
Well thats it for me ... sleep.

Okay, ladies and gentlemen, I have been reading the Japanese forum and the news of Casey Hudsan statemente has just arrived there. They are upset that another DLC is coming out (especially because it takes longer for them to get it than it takes for us, because they need to have the Japanese charcters input, and that takes longer...or so they said) but they would rather have Bioware fix it than leave it the way it is.
They just got the news, so there really isn't a lot of talk right now, but I'll keep reading.
Wooo o/ That's good news. Our Japanese brothers in arms are most welcome in our line... especially if they bring giant robots (We know they're hiding them, don't think we didn't see your awesome robots)
I hope we can see some Japanese responses soon: has anyone any articles or sources from across the Pacific?

Confession time (this'll be brief, don't worry):
I've been playing a few rounds of multiplayer a night for the past two or three nights to take some of the edge off, because it's really not as bad as had been thought before release and it's a decent way to pass the time (plus it fits well with the single-player). When I started playing tonight I saw the Operation Goliath thing, not realizing what it truly represented, and so I went for a few matches -- even managed to help win a Silver challenge and kill several Brutes.
At the core, however, this was just meant to immerse myself in some runny-shooty gun fun.
Back to holding the line.
No need to apologize! Geez we're not like the spanish inquisition. I played some earlier this week too, it's a lot of fun.. I got ME3 for the single player epic narrative but I found I enjoyed the CoD style multiplayer. I just want them to fix the ending haha
Ah, but NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION! *thank you Monty Python.*

I actually preordered Mass Effect 1. I had followed it for a good year before it came out. The conversation options reminded me of KOTOR 1 and I had just finished KOTOR 2 at that point, and fell in love with the series before it even came out, I was not disappointed... one of my favourite games of all time.

I'm playing through DA:O again so that when I get to the end I can remember what a good, fufilling Bioware ending is like.

I second this. It's time were stopped merely snooping on their conversations and brought them into the fight.

Get them to come, tell them they can improve their English and that we are really nice and accepting and that we all hate the endings too and that they are not alone...
(I knew a lot of Japanese online gamers who played on English servers in order to improve their English. I had to explain what I meant when I said that "That boss is Toast!"
Why did I stop playing that MMO anyways...

I tried to explain to my girlfriend how awful the ending was... Murader Sheilds tried to stop me... I should have just stopped there and let him save me.
In anticipation of this game I bought a whole new P.C. rig, as I knew I was going to be playing this trilogy for a long time...
Well, that plan is debunked...

When my buddy recommended the game, he didn't tell me that it had fully-voiced narration. That was what truly sucked me in like a thousand-dollar hooker and wouldn't let me go. I have, and will continue to, proclaim the Mass Effect-style of storytelling as the way of the future for all western RPGs. Especially when they employ phenomenal voice actors like Jennifer Hale and Joan Wyatt (who, incidentally, played Brynn Cole).
Hold the line!
