Phoenix AZ reporting back in. I don't think I'm gonna have to ask my usual question of "What happened in the last X hours?" That sticky thread is, in my opinion, a massive victory for the RetakeME3 movement. Now, I will ask, hopefully from someone gracious enough, what has been the overall reaction in the last 2 hours since they posted that? Just to get a sense of where my brothers and sisters are at?

Some people are hopeful. Many are skeptical. Many are hopeful while being skeptical. Some people think it's a PR stall tactic. Most people are still holding the line.

As time whent by without an answer I have been becoming more and more skeptical, now with this I think I am "optimistically skeptical." If that's a thing? But that bares no change, I shall continue to hold the line until something more concrete is revealed. Still, this is pretty big.

Just a reminder: if you haven't voted yet, this is one of the best polls asking about ME3 endings out there. You should definitely take the time to answer it.

Actually that's a surprisingly efficient method of improving one's command of a foreign language.
I'm playing ME in German, for aural practice.

But the German Version is badly translated and.......just badly acted so not really good for aural practices

Yeah, I know that. But it's hours and hours of people talking into your ear in colloquial German. I can read alright, in German, but have had too little aural practice.
Especially the guy playing Shepard is just... Most of the time he sounds as though he's reading the weather report on the radio.
----and I'm also aware that I'm missing out on the accents. I couldn't get to hear Prothy the Fascist's accent, for instance. But in general the actors are doing a decent job imitating the original voices.

I've played ME and ME2 in French; I have to say that my favorite Shep. (m) is the frenchspeaker. A lot better than Mark Meer.

It seems very optimistic

cautiously optimistic, it helps that forbes has another post that includes what has happened, if we can get other outlets to report on it, then it wil be harder for them to back down on it. just a thought.

holding the line

I know this has been said to death, but I am loving the hell out of Forbes right now. They definitely have someone high up the seniority in their editing department who is as much of an ME fanboy as all of us. Just wanted to add my voice to the multitude.

The N7 weekend is a joke. And we're the punchline.

To any of you people willing or wishing to participate in this BS know that all you're doing is taking a momentary satisfaction to the detriment of what we all want, a real ending.

This N7 thing lasts for a weekend, the ending will last for years. Which one is more important to you?

Agreed. If you're playing the game Bioware knows you arn't serious. Only when their sales and traffic crash will they take notice.

I play mine in English lol
But hey, that's a foreign language to me.

Honto?  What's your native language then? (I took Japanese for the first three years in High School, I still know bits and pieces, but can't understand most of it anymore... after 3 years of not seeing/hearing it)

Hello all, never posted on the forums before but I figured you could use a boost in numbers. Not really a whole lot I can add that hasn't already been said, took me six days to recover from the shock the ending left me with.
Actually, shock isn't the right word.
I mean, at first I was shocked, then I was mad, and then I laughed for a full day straight because I tried to explain the ending out loud to a friend, and the second I started talking about what happened the ending cemented itself as so hilariously bad I just couldn't hold it back. And then I was mad again.

Okay now though. Sort of. Haven't spoken to anyone who understands my frustration/depression. There is a severe lack of anything fanboys in my town. Ah well. I just got back from work and it's fairly late so I won't be around for very long tonight, but I've always been a lurker so I rarely post anyways.

Im in the cautiously optimistic or optimistically skeptical (Like it better )

{So where do we go from here? Throughout the next year, we will support Mass Effect 3 by working on new content. And we’ll keep listening, because your insights and constructive feedback will help determine what that content should be. This is not the last you’ll hear of Commander Shepard. }

what worries me is the (Throughout the next year). We cannot allow them to stall and push off a ending. Ill work with them but it needs to be the TOP priority on DLC

Simply do not purchase any DLC until a conclusive ending is released.

I agree, while its noce to know that they'll be giving us stuff throughout the year, they'd better give me the End before I'm going to buy anything else...

I will definitely have to try playing a game in another language. Yeah someone else from Arizona :D

just gotta say I have never been so motivated to hold the line and inspired to keep holding the line. It feels like I should make some Independence Day (movie) type speech but I'm not good at it. Just know all of you have helped me persevere.

Holding the line.

My sentiments exactly. Although I have to admit that this isn't the first Forbes article that seems just right, they've previously delivered a lot of awesome stuff concerning topic I care about, large and small.

Just thought I'd leave this here:

Brent Knowles, who was the lead designer on Dragon Age: Origins, and one of the old guard Bioware developers (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights), and, when he quit Bioware, made the interesting observation that "Bioware is no longer the company I remember". He's talked a little bit about the ME3 situation on his blog:

"I read one recent blog post where the writer basically said "the ending was awesome because it was just like a movie" and I think she was missing the point.

It is a game. Not a movie.

And more specifically, its a role-playing game. The players are *part* of the game. Part of the process of building and experiencing the game, much more so than with most other forms of entertainment.

Entitlement is really a right, for the gamer, because they have participated, actively, in the game itself.

Again, I can't speak to the actual ending myself, because I have not played it but in general I'd say a Role-Playing Video Game Trilogy Ending should (try to) do the following:

1. Reward the player's choices throughout the series. The big stuff they did should be noted. They should *feel* like they had a unique impact on the world.

2. End on a positive note. This is really important for video games...life in general is full of s****y stuff happening all the time. When I invest a hundred hours into a game I need to walk away feeling like a hero.

When you waste a couple hours of a person's life with an artsy/depressing movie or short story or even a novel, it is more forgivable because the time spent is less. And presumably the consumer knew what they were going into when they started. Certain directors create certain styles of movie. Certain writers write specific types of fiction.

On the other hand somebody playing an epic role-playing video-game trilogy is going to *expect* to be the hero and save the universe. That's why they are playing the game. When expectations don't match reality, disappointment is created.

It might be an artistic/creative move to go with a different style of ending but I feel its the wrong choice, especially for a videogame *trilogy*. Make your middle game bleak if you want to, but end the series on a high note."
