I'm sorry you guys are so upset... I don't mean that in a patronizing way because I really wish everyone could be as happy and satisfied with the ending as I am. I love Mass Effect, start-to-finish, and I'd think that if there's any place to express that love and share it, it'd be in a fan forum. Where did all the fans go? I know you're going to say that it's because you're fans that you're demanding a better ending, but I'm here to say that it couldn't have ended any other way

I honestly figured I had forgotten a massive side quest or something..  It didn't seem like a complete ending to me hahahaha.  S'why I came on here, realized "Nope that's the actual ending"... and then I never left :P

While I can't stop anyone from doing so, I would encourage you all to not post twitter posts. It only furthers their cause of trying to distract and deflect. We need to stay united and keep the pressure on. Remember, read this.

But, then again, I don't even want an explanation for these endings, because no amount of Handwaving is gonna get the bitter taste out of my mouth over these endings. It's not gonna get the bad taste out of my mouth that Bioware needlessly made their ending melodramatic schlock for the sake of being "artsy and provocative." It's not gonna remove the sheer sense of betrayal that I felt upon reaching the end and realizing that no matter how many times I go back to the very first game and start new playthroughs, that each and every one of those Shepards' stories will conclude with the exact same ending, the only real difference being the color of our patented Deus Ex Machina.

If nothing is done to address this, then I am officially done with everything Bioware. I might shell out the cash from Dragon Age 3, but any new IP or anything else Mass Effect and/or Dragon Age or whatever will have one less buyer thanks to these HORRIBLE endings.

If there's a paid-for ending DLC, I'll pay for it, if reluctantly. However, the damage to Bioware's reputation with me will still stand. However, if there's free DLC, I'll take it as an apology as well as an olive branch and my faith in Bioware will be restored, as it will show that they have the balls to own up to their mistake.

Agreed. And a very good post overall (not just the quoted part) :)

So please, Bioware, I beg of you: Don't try and turn this into another bait-and-switch ala Dragon Age 2(which I don't think was nearly as bad as some people make it out to be, personally, but it was NOTHING compared to the excellence that was Origins). Don't lead us along with a carrot on a stick only to give us nothing in the end. Please, listen to your fans and give us what we are asking for: Better endings, more options, and a full sense of closure to this excellent trilogy.

Welcome to the fight soldier, we all know how you feel far too well :crying:

So stay strong and stay civil! We will do this right!

I'd just like to encourage everyone here to tell Bioware, in this thread, why they felt the ending was bad. Flood them with feedback. As detailed and as thoughtful as you can be. I'm writing my response, and I imagine it's going to end up being a few thousand words long in the end. That's what we need right now.

And remember - remain civil. We need to show BW that we are reasonable, intelligent people with a grievance. We need to show them that we're willing to fix this.

It's a stall tactic. If they've been listening they know what's wrong with the ending.

Absolutely it's a stall tactic. But if you read what that PR guy said about how this sort of thing works, we need to keep the pressure up. And we need to keep from getting angry. That's the only way that this can work.

Hi all, I saw an interesting thing when I was browsing Amazon.ca today.

It seems the price of ME3 has dropped from 59.99 to 56.41 and currently has a rating of only 2 1/2 stars.

Also, this is the top post in the comments:

An excellent final chapter in Commander Shepard's story which is
completely spoiled by a nonsensical, cop-out of an ending - one which
was basically directly ripped from the original Deus Ex. Not only does
the ending spoil what would otherwise be an excellent game, it also
destroys the replay value of all the previous games in the series. And
no, I'm most definitely *not* exaggerating.

Do yourself a favour
and give it a pass. Or even better, donate the money to the charity
"Child's Play" which provides games and toys to sick children.

Im, as always,
  Holding the Line.

And honestly. Rip off the first Deus Ex if you're going to.

I'm fine with ripping off the first or the third, I can't really imagine anyone trying to rip off the second.  It'd be like trying to rip off Star Control 3.  95% of people wouldn't get the joke, and the other 5% of people would probably just end up lighting you on fire.

"For the last eight years, Mass Effect has been a labor of love for our team; love for the characters we’ve created, for the medium of video games, and for the fans that have supported us. For us and for you, Mass Effect 3 had to live up to a lot of expectations, not only for a great gaming experience, but for a resolution to the countless storylines and decisions you’ve made as a player since the journey began in 2007. So we designed Mass Effect 3 to be a series of endings to key plots and storylines, each culminating in scenes that show you the consequences of your actions. You then carry the knowledge of these consequences with you as you complete the final moments of your journey.

We always intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending—to do otherwise would betray the agonizing decisions Shepard had to make along the way. Still, we wanted to give players the chance to experience an inspiring and uplifting ending; in a story where you face a hopeless struggle for basic survival, we see the final moments and imagery as offering victory and hope in the context of sacrifice and reflection."

After reading that statement from Casey Hudson I have to ask did he play the game yet?

Ok, clearly he wasn't playing the same game as us.

That ending was not bittersweet, just bitter...

Heh. I actually liked DE2. And I still can't stand the ending to ME3. What does that say about how bad it is?

I raged before I got to the credits. Once I got to the spacekid and he presented the endings I was like "WTF, that can't be right?! Did I do something wrong?" So I went on google (before finishing the sequence) to find out what the hell had happened.

But as it turned out, it was actually that retarded. Then I got depressed and went outside to have a smoke, ended up smoking 6 cigaretts or something. Got a bit teary eyed whenever i thought about all that was for nothing.. Especially Thane, that hit me hard.

So hold the line people!
