Personally i want to run around and talk to everyone after the reapers are beaten! In a similar way as in dragon age origins maybe. Maybe visit the star systems, see how they are rebuilding etc. When youre done flying around you return to earth, final cutscene, credits!

Of course only if you survive the ending..

I admit, I am moving towards the view that all of this has been planned by Bioware.

Let's release a game with an ending (albeit a poor, vague one). That will generate publicity and the we can sell a DLC ending a ways down the line.

I am, perhaps, cynical by nature, but this is sounding increasingly "right" to my ears. Of course, what they didn't expect was that the publicity from the "ending" they did give out would be almost universally negative. To use the phrase "They screwed the pooch" would not be a misuse if it proved so.

My belief is that they have the fantastic multiple choice ending we all wanted and expected, but were holding it back for purely financial reasons. If this should prove to be the case, then they really have shot themselves in the head over this.

Of course, PR spin and all, we may never know whether that is true. But they said they wanted us to speculate, so there's my take on it.

For FhemShep players: does anyone else feel like the make up for ME3 was almost nonexistent?
And can BroShep have beard?

Yes, but I liked that there was more subtle makeup.

I doubt Shep has a whole lotta time for putting on makeup. If anything, for my FemShep at least, it would be lipgloss, mascara, go!

Just finished my letter. It's a bit TL;DR. Time to handwrite and post it! ^_^

Dear Bioware,

                        I am writing to express
my deepest regret at your decision to end the Mass Effect saga so horribly. As
a long term fan of the series, I can’t quite believe it has come to this. I am
completely stunned and overwhelmingly disappointed.

As you will be painfully aware by
now, the vast majority of your fans are not just displeased – they are
horrified. It is difficult to believe that a game developer who did so much
right has ended their most beloved series on such a sour note. As I’m sure my
sisters and brothers currently still “holding the line” will vehemently agree,
the time has come to either come clean and release the real ending, or to offer
the loyal fans of the series some means of closure (preferably continuing the
story via DLC).

I would like to begin by listing
some of the moments I thought were amazing. Mass Effect 3 was literally the
best game I have ever played. Until now, my all time favourite game was Final
Fantasy VII. I truly did not think there would be a game that could overtake it
in sheer excellence. Mass Effect 3 managed this, until it ended in abomination.
The following are a list of things that stood out to me (story-wise):

·
I was finally able
to have a same-sex relationship with Kaidan, and it was beautifully done.

·
The inclusion of
openly homosexual crew members was handled very well.

·
Liara’s character
was very well implemented. She felt like a loyal best friend. The scene where
she wrote Shepard’s name in the stars brought a tear to my eye.

·
Wrex’s “you are a
brother to me” speech is the first time I cried. Twenty minutes later, Mordin
died and I was inconsolable. Mordin sang. I cried for about an hour. The
implications of curing the genophage had me cheering for Wrex and Eve. “A
Future for the Krogan” is a beautiful piece.

·
Thane’s death was
handled beautifully. Cried again. (For me, he died in hospital).

·
I cried at Legion’s
“death”, especially following this the beautifully cruel moment when Tali
theorises that he was a real person immediately before his demise.

·
Saying goodbye to
everyone in London (especially Kaidan, as my love interest) just had me crying
like a baby. Amazing again.

·
All of the Mass
Effect 2 characters returning, meeting everyone on the Citadel and all the
dialogue, the voice acting, the music and the gameplay – truly the pinnacle of
the series.

           However; what happened?
Immediately following the end I (surprise coming) cried. Then I had five
minutes to think about what had just happened. I am the kind of player that
does absolutely everything. I had the highest possible EMS score as well as
100% galactic readiness. I speak to my crew at every opportunity between
missions to miss the least amount of dialogue possible. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT.
What is that ending all about? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Still reeling from the shock, I
began to remember promises made by you, the company previously. Some very
important promises that were broken are listed below:

  • ·
    CASEY HUDSON:
    “…Where you can’t say whether you got ending A, B or C”
  • ·
    CASEY HUDSON: “Fans
want to make sure that they see things resolved, they want to get some closure,
a great ending. I think they’re going to get that.”
  • ·
    MAC WALTERS: “[The
presence of the Rachni] has huge consequences in Mass Effect 3. Even just in
the final battle with the Reapers.”
  • ·
    MAC WALTERS: “I’m
always leery of saying there are 'optimal' endings, because I think one of the
things we do try to do is make different endings that are optimal for different
    people “
  • ·
    MIKE GAMBLE: “There
are many different endings. We wouldn’t do it any other way. How could you go
through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a
bespoke ending that everyone gets? But I can’t say any more than that…”
  • ·
    MIKE GAMBLE: “You'll
get answers to everything. That was one of the key things. Regardless of how we
did everything, we had to say, yes, we're going to providesome answers to these
    people.”
  • ·
    “A conclusion to the
    trilogy”
  • ·
    “Your decisions
    matter”
  • ·
    “Your decisions in
previous games will have an impact on the ending of Mass Effect 3”

Anyone with common sense who has
finished the end of Mass Effect 3 and reads this list will immediately be able
to point out the flaws in each and every point. These are not the only false
promises that were made, however to post each and every one would be
repetitive, and not in line with the main goal of this letter. The community is
not mourning the loss of Shepard, it is mourning the downfall of what should
have been the best trilogy in the history of – not just video gaming – but entertainment
overall. And it was there until that ending ruined it all!

The game itself seems to be
written with a view to remind the player that Shepard is just one man, that his
demise is imminent. This makes VICTORY a far more liberating experience. This
isn’t to say the ending is bad because Shepard dies (yes, I am aware of the
“hidden” ending where someone in a pile of rubble takes a breath for a split
second, that is not an ending, that is a cliffhanger). If Shepard must die for
whatever future you have planned for the universe, it has to provide a sense of
closure. For instance, in this current riot of an ending, why is Kaidan (my
supposed soulmate) not only RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD (as he was hit by
Harbinger’s beam) but not giving a crap that his love is either disintegrating
at the top of the Citadel or lying under a pile of rubble in London? Not to
mention absolutely no future for the rest of the galaxy with the Mass Relays
destroyed. Even if you manage to retcon the information you’ve given us about
FTL drives, this does not change the fact that (according to the in-game
information you provided) with the Mass Relays destroyed, almost all life in
the galaxy is wiped out.

                The only plausible explanation
is the “indoctrination theory” which states that all beyond the point of being
hit by Harbinger’s beam is an attempt at indoctrination/ hallucination. Since
Shepard’s imagination is the only place his crew will actually be happy and
able to escape without trying to rescue their commander, this is the only line
of thought that makes sense of the end. Even if this was unintentional, it is
far better than what we were actually given.

I am also aware of Casey
Hudson’s notes in the released app. “MUCH SPECULATION FOR EVERYONE”. What? Are
you joking? This is a classic example of trying too hard to be original. By
copying endings hailed for being original. The only explanation for the superb
game until the end is that the aforementioned “writer” had no hand in the rest
of the game. If this is the case, and the rest of the Bioware team were
“facepalming” over this, please accept my condolences. Casey Hudson has ruined
your years of hard work.

Following this line of thought,
here is a list of things that is wrong with the ending as it is:

  • ·
    If the
indoctrination theory is correct, this isn’t the real ending.
  • ·
    If the
indoctrination theory is incorrect, the ending is absolutely nonsensical.
  • ·
    How are my dead
squadmates appearing on the Normandy with Joker?
  • ·
    Why is the Normandy
crash landing on a random planet?
  • ·
    Without Mass Relays,
how did the Normandy get away from Earth?
  • ·
    Why was I unable to
    reason with the “reaper child”?
  • ·
    Why are ALL 16
    ENDINGS EXACTLY THE SAME?
  • ·
    Why do none of the
characters you made me fall in love with care that I’m dead?

·
BIGGEST ONE: Why was
this ending ALLOWED, when the rest of the story was so phenomenally well done?
What happened?

If this is a ploy to
release DLC to conclude the trilogy, I am shocked at the balls of the company
however will get it, because I am that desperate to know what actually happens
to my crew.

                Faith in Bioware, which is
usually the case amongst fans, dictates that there’s no way you’d let an ending
like that fall through the cracks without having some sort of backup plan. I am
not talking about another story set in the Mass Effect universe, I am talking
about a resolution to the stories of MY CHARACTERS that you told me I’d be able
to influence. However, the faith amongst your fans is falling with each passing
day. The irritating PR spin that is being released by Hudson is also
unfortunate, because as usual he is creating falsehoods from the facts. An
example: In a recent post he stated that some reviews have been “overwhelmingly
positive”. We are literally talking about 2% of the people who have completed
the game. The 98% complaining have not been acknowledged, and furthermore are
not stupid.

To conclude this letter, I would
like to say what a phenomenal job was done on the rest of the game. This is why
the end we are left with was so completely out of the blue and shockingly bad
it really is hard for us fans to believe that you don’t have some trick up your
sleeve, though with each statement released it seems that for some bizarre
reason the company was deluded enough to think that this ending actually made
any sense. I certainly don’t think it’s a good idea to completely change the
current story – the best option I can hope for is that you’ll piggyback the
indoctrination theory (or continue it, if this was actually intended) and give
us a proper conclusion to the story you made us fall in love with.

TL;DR, please conclude the story properly. It really
is the only way to retain the trust and faith of your true fans, which has
become dangerously weak. As a long time fan I want to congratulate you on what
was otherwise an excellent entry in the series and wish you good luck for the
future.

Respectfully holding
the line,

Me. (PSN

I think it might be Forbes who likes us a lot. That is the 6th article unless I forgot how to count and need to return to kindergarten. All of them have seemed at least sympathetic to our cause if not outright supportive of it.

My explanation for the totally spirit-crushing feeling we get from the ending is that throughout all three games, the Commander has become an analogue for ourselves. We are so personally invested in it that we feel what Shep would feel. Now, imagine if you WERE Shepard, and you watch the entire galaxy get crushed despite your best efforts. I sincerely think we're feeling exactly the way the Shep would feel, watching that whole thing. Except that there's now a disconnect, because if Shep were dead, she/he wouldn't be feeling anything... yet we still have to suffer through it as players. So not only did they rip us apart emotionally, they ripped us completely out of the narrative.

That's pretty awful, BioWare.

All we do is have to wait for the dlc.. it will show either they will leave mass effect 3 to die or fix it and make the best game of the year, or hell, maybe the best game at it's genre.

Judging by Casey Hudson's statements pre-release, they knew what fans wanted. So either they are complete fools, or they have some reason to lie, and do the opposite of what they said they would. What it is they have planned, I do not know.

I'd rather they just came out and told us what, if anything, they had planned before this all blew up in their faces. If there was some plan, it has surely backfired badly for them.

The best they can do is to come clean about it and explain their thinking, not hide behind PR guru's (the same ones, probably, that got them into this mess in the first place.)

The longer it drags on, the worse things will get.

If Bioware did have an ending in the wings, as the rumours about 'The Truth' DLC claim, then I'd expect them to give a statement to that effect next week. The reason is that regardless of their initial reasons for not saying anything, things have moved too quickly and done FAR to much damage for them to remain quiet. (The rumours about 'The Truth' seem to indicate they intended to either release or announce it at PAX on the 6th April - and there is no way they can stall for that length of time).

If there is truth to, ahem, 'The Truth' I'd expect them to tell us it exists even if it is not ready for release for a few more weeks.

If they don't have such a DLC in the works expect attempts to stall, inflame the players so we look bad and offers of something 'shiny' to distract us. If we continue to hold, as we should and as we are, and don't allow them to deflect or avoid the issue. Then they will have no option but to make a call on if they should make such a DLC. As I noted before, all the information available to us AND comments from those who've been on Bioware's position at some point indicate that if we hold fast Bioware/EA will have no other practical option but to do what we have been asking them to do. The alternative would cost them far more than any DLC in the long run.

Hold the line.
