What the latest news? past 7 hours or so.

http://www.gameinfor...#commentmessage

I'd like to ask anyone who disagrees that this course of action is appropriate at this time post a comment saying this is one person and NOT a representation of the movement as a whole. This paints us all in a bad light and we need to show that we do not support it. We brought the hammer down hard on the last article that posted this, we can do it again. But stay civil. Take one minute to sign up an leave a comment saying that this is NOT the face of Retake Mass Effect. This is how we hold the line.

Oh, no, we have to be even stronger!
Don't play MP, don't play SP, try not to play anything EA/Bioware.
That way we will have more attention from them.

Going to work on a second playthough. It will be a race between me and Bioware, if they can fix the ending and restore my faith in the series before I reach the beam.

Alright, my email has been sent!

I felt that I needed to add my thoughts to this movement.  I have seen my friends' emails giving extremely detailed descriptions of what when wrong in our eyes.  I will simply add that real life is bleak enough right now.  All you have to turn on the news or stop by the unemployment offices to see this.  I don't play games to add more of this feeling in my life.  I understand the idea of a hero's sacrifice completely.  But at least make the sacrifices (plural because there were many Shepards) mean something and give us some meaningful closure after hundreds of hours of time and emotional investments.

I will also note that I have been playing video games since the Atari 2600.  I have never seen a gaming community as united in purpose as I see them now.  The simple fact that a discussion thread on your server can go over 1600 pages long while staying on topic, and staying on an overall positive note is strong evidence of this.  I truly feel that this momentum is not something that will go away soon without a definitive and clear statement of your plans.

Your company has done amazing things in the past.  I hope you will continue to create amazing things in the future.  I, and many others, want to be a part of that.  Please, help restore our faith.  Please allow us to go to others and tell them that the ME series finished as strongly as it started.  Help us be some of the best advertising you could get.  Please, let our movement say, "Bioware made things right."

Sincerely and still holding the line,
**

Making sense is not enough. Shepard has to be able to act like Shepard, and choices need to matter. And there's never going to be a sunshine and rainbows ending. The galaxy will have a hard time recovering no matter what, and a lot of people close to most Shepards have been lost.

This.

I have said several times, that the ending can be sad, bittersweet or even happy...only the events leading to it have to be appropirate.
I would love to see an end where Shepard lives based on the good and meaningfull decisions I have made before. But I would be also feel good having an end where Shepard dies the next time I play because the decisions were not that good in those saves.

But what I want is that my Shepard actually stays Shepard. In no way he would simply accepted the star-childs arguments, or not even questioned them. He would have proven it wrong.

Yeah, you elaborated perfectly. Forgot to mention that Shepard should only live if the right decisions were made. And it is very important that Shepard gets to act as s/he should, rather than how s/he did in the ending.

After nearly 2000 hours of gameplay spread across all 3 ME games. It comes down to some stupid Starchild that nobody has ever heard any mention of before - let alone seen. Giving you a choice between doors 1, 2 or 3 like some presenter on a quiz show.Image IPB

Christ, that has to be the most disapointing, jarring, tacked on, mockery of an ending that i've ever witnessed.

It makes playing the entire trilogy pointless.Image IPB

Seriously, the moment Shepard starts making the run for the light beam. The game turns into a farce. Image IPB

Somebody at Bioware must be a fan of Gainax, because if there was ever a Gainax ending - this it it.

Oh and on a side note...

Why did they have to go the Earth route to get to the Citadel anyway?  Why not just go to Ilos and use the conduit?

Someone made the point that we need to outline exactly what it is we are asking for, beyond 'a changed ending'.

Here goes *gulp*

We want...Shepard to live, Shepard to die. Shepard to ride off into the sunset with his friends, to retire with the love of his life, to become the hero of the ages or to be mourned for making the ultimate sacrifice. We want to see the effects of our decisions through 3 games, which races rose and which fell. We want to know if our companions fade into obscurity or rise to greatness.

We want closure, we want sense we want to be able to make these choices based on all three games.

We want the ending we were told we would get.

We just want them to keep they words. A DAO end-like would be fine by me as long as it reflect what i've done in the 3 games.

Fans:You've kept him alive so he can die at the proper moment. You've been raising him like a pig for slaughter,
Bioware: Don't tell me now, that you've come to care for Shepard

(cue space magic)

Fans: always

Please, remember, we're consumers and fans. But we're consumers first. Many of us pre-ordered the game, or bought it while trying to avoid spoilers, and thus were unaware, early on, of what would be in store for us. We were lied to by the PR machine, and we have rights as such. Beyond the lies, I have a strong feeling most of the people who are upset about this ending are in the 25-40 demographic (or close to it). We are mature, civil, intelligent consumers. We are not flailing thirteen year olds who obsess over every little detail. Some of us grew up memorizing every fact about Star Wars or Star Trek, sure, but that doesn't change the fact that we are all very intelligent and, most importantly, people. Everyday people. We bought a product that neither lived up to expectations nor delivered on its promises.

We hold the real power, here. And we have chosen, rather than going to authorities - which we are in every right to do, I might add - to attempt to engage in dialogue with the corporation of EA/BioWare. The fact that they are throwing PR tactics at us left and right, far faster than they have been used before, means they are desperate. But we will endure. We will hold the line. The fact that we have endured means we are not a small group of rabid teenage fans, that we have a legitimate grievance. And that we can stay organized.

What the PR people don't recognize is how their company is on shakier ground than they think. Because we are legion, because we are right, because we are consumers, they don't stand a chance. We have taken them to task, and if they fail we are the ones who have legal rights to pursue further - to take them not just to task, but to court. We are the ones who are giving them an opportunity to make things right. I hope against hope that they do not squander this opportunity. Because, we will hold the line.

agreed on some points. I myself am 25 and I am here to support the movement (obviously).

Taking them to court....maybe a bit far but I can appreciate how you are feeling. Try to stay calm and keep that line

I got your back.

I only raised that because, AFAIK, nobody has pursued the consumer-rights aspect in the games industry. If so, Peter Molyneux would spend his life in court XD

I also agree that it is extreme, as well.

AT least Peter Molyneux is consistant.. Consistently worse that the last Fable he put out.. These guys ( bioware ) are magnificiently consistant throughout the entire series, right up to the last few minutes where, if i didnt know how long these things take to create, i'd swear the writers animators and everyone took a vaction on some kind of weird, goth-glam drug.

Oh, and Bioware.. Please forgive me but i'm sorry, Emo-child went out with everyone but 13 year olds a long time ago.

Done.

Voted choice 1.

I want endings that reflect my choices.

Everything from...

I royally screw up big time - The universe is doomed and Shepard dies.

To

I do fantastically well- The universe is saved, Shep marries Liara and has lots of blue kids.

Shame for your english?
I am not even from any country which uses the english language on a daily basis, yet I post.

No reason to be ashamed. We all fight the good fight. We stand together. No way we would comment on your english in a negative way. :)

I'm sorry you guys are so upset... I don't mean that in a patronizing way because I really wish everyone could be as happy and satisfied with the ending as I am. I love Mass Effect, start-to-finish, and I'd think that if there's any place to express that love and share it, it'd be in a fan forum. Where did all the fans go? I know you're going to say that it's because you're fans that you're demanding a better ending, but I'm here to say that it couldn't have ended any other way

So you are saying that because we didn't like the ending we aren't fans anymore?

It definitely could have had a better/good ending, I think.

Self-sacrifice is a staple of heroic fiction of all sorts. Death of the main character is not the issue. Lack of closure is what we all object to.

An example of a well-done (if a bit over the top) gesture of self-sacrifice is to watch Armageddon and see how that was done. Plenty of farewell speeches, plus you got to see the aftermath of that sacrifice and how all of his companions fared. Emotional, but satisfying and with complete closure.

Another one with a slightly more convoluted closure, but still, closure, would be Titanic.

In both cases the sacrifice of the character meant something and the observer was allowed to see that.

Would it have been so hard for them to do something like that?

Shepard never existed.
The Crew of the Normandy fought against the Reapers with the united galaxy forces. As the Citadel was about to fire, they know that it would be a big explosion, Joker did the only right thing: He hit the Relay and wants to save the Crew. After crashlanding on a planet they stepped out of the Ship and where happy, it was over.
Shepard himself, was a dream, a dream they all had together.
Or did you see any sadness or regret in the face of your love interest in the end when he/she stepped out of the ship?

:D but that was only a mind i got when i was at toilet :DD

I dont like the endings and i want my tali back! :<

Hey, don't worry about any clumsiness with English here.  Many of the worst arguments and hardest to understand statements on BSN come from native English speakers/writers.  Also, there are plenty of Russians in the fleet, so welcome aboard!

I do agree, yet I do not.

Yes, filling that complaint and send it to the FTC (Not beeing from North America I take it it is an agency to protect consumers from false advertisment and deception?) was surely a mistake on his part...

Yet, seeing how we all take distance in such a quick way, will leave not a bad image. Yes, there will be people who will think we are "Idio**", or who will make us a crying bunch. But in the end, for people who look closely, we took distance and have seperated us from this one person who did this on HIS behalf, not on OURS.
