No, you can't get the ending you want after all. Not without a credit card to buy the inevitable DLC to fix it. Sorry.
Well, it's not even sure they actually issue a DLC to fix it. It still depends on us.

After centuries of worshiping the creator of the galaxy and all life on it, followers of The Shepard broke off into different cults, culminating in long, bloody and atrocious battles, war and crusades over whether he was Paragade or Renegon, and whether he truly loved Liara or Tali [insert appropriate LI where necessary].
Let Shepard die as a hero, so that future generations remember him as a galactic Hector.
Not a messiah. Because the 'messianic twist' comes at the last minute and it convinces no one; it's utterly hollow. Just like the Matrix 2-3 abominations.

That thread, we should come up with some agreed-upon bullet points for what our message is. Here's my proposal.
- The game's ending to meet our expectations as consumers.
- The game's ending fails to meet our expectations as fans.
- The response from BioWare needs to change.
- We have jobs, families, responsibilities. We dedicate our time to this cause because we genuinely care about Mass Effect and its story.
What do you guys think?
- We want to see a product that we, as human beings, as consumers, as fans, and as players can be proud of.
In a broader sense it is pretty much perfect. Those are the main reasons why we, as fans and consumers are
not happy with the product we recieved. So yeah, IMO it works.

Just forced myself to replay the ending just to check I hadn't missed something, only thing I really picked up on was this:
After being hit by the beam its not clear how much time actually passes before Shepard regains conciousness. Joker could have picked up the squadmates then believing you were dead. However if that was the case why didn't they at least try and look for you or make contact via radio? Still doesn't really fill a plot-hole you could lose the citadel in (oh wait, we did).
Just a thought, holding the line for the sake of getting the multiple endings we were promised.
And what was Harbringer doing? Did he (it?) decide to play nice and let the Normandy, a ship he was trying to destroy for the entirity of ME2, land in front of him, rescue everyone and fly off? Did the other five Reapers - who are said to have broken off and be heading for the beam - also decide to play nice as well?
As I said, it was just a thought.. almost anything is speculation and clutching at emergency induction ports as there isn't enough to go on to reach a conclusion that sticks. *waves wand and applies rainbow space magic*
Which is the problem, it was supposed to be the epic "conclusion" the only thing most people have been able to conclude is that they can't really come to a conclusion.

I think that's it, that's what we are doing.
Oh, maybe we should add something about what we were promised, not only expecting.

Sums it up, yes. What I want are different endings, good and bad ones, that make my decisions matter for the reasons you are writting above. Everything included.

Lol, now we need one for the first Battlestar Galactica!!
For the uninitiated, Blakes 7 was a sci-show about a band of fugitives being hunted basically. They all die in the last episode.

As I went to the post office to drop off my letter to Bioware, I was met at the counter by an adorable clerk at the counter. He took one look at the letter and one look at me and said, "Hated the ending too, huh?"
I told him my feelings on it (ignoring the impatient, disgruntled looks of the customers behind me) to which he replied, "Hold the line, brother", taking my envelope from my hand.
That... made my day....

This is what 'holding the line' means........so I ask, what does saying, "Hold the line" mean to you?
Also, is there one page/site we can refer all the new people to so they can grab all the banners, links, read up on the movement etc. that is clear and concise. (i.e. if joining the movement please do A, B, C, D etc.) We can direct all newcomers to this one place, and then we can just repost that ONE site that will link them to the FB, twitter, sigs, etc places. Doing it every few pages, or via first post sticky in some threads.
In short, Let's get organized folks.

I wrote this earlier;
Someone made the point that we need to outline exactly what it is we are asking for, beyond 'a changed ending'.
Here goes *gulp*
We want...Shepard to live, Shepard to die. Shepard to ride off into the sunset with his friends, to retire with the love of his life, to become the hero of the ages or to be mourned for making the ultimate sacrifice. We want to see the effects of our decisions through 3 games, which races rose and which fell. We want to know if our companions fade into obscurity or rise to greatness.
We want closure, we want sense we want to be able to make these choices based on all three games.
We want the ending we were told we would get.

Yeah I think it's hitting me how much I'm going to miss playing EA games if Bioware doesn't fix stuff..
I've got Sims 3 series - no more buying that (That'll save me a good $1000+ a year)
Simcity 5 is coming out next year-ish (not getting that *sniffles*)
Dragon Age III + DLC (gonna miss that).
Assassin's Creed Series
Dead Space
Command & Conquer Generals 2
The Old Republic
Crysis series...etc
And of course that new Marauder Shields game
After that, it will be up to you if you keep on not playing.
Unrelated PS AC3 looks sick hopefully the ending to the third or fith installment of that series is better then ME3's end
I can't read "AC" as Assassin's Creed.
It's Ace Combat, or Armored Core. Better series.

You got that wrong. This is just a usual reminder. The thread can be shut down because of pics. So only posting links is for the greater good. No internal conflict needed. Back to the line.
Another usual remninder:
