The thing is if you know your shepard dies it gives no incentive to play again and get "right".

If at least there were different deaths a mazoquist kind of guy could enjoy himself watching all the ways Sheppard could die..

But there is basically only one death, and honestly, it is terrible, poorly made and meaningless.

As Harbinger said "you are irrelevant"

Maybe the ending HE needs. The ending *I* need includes walking up to Hackett after its all said and done and going "I'm retiring". *Maybe* becoming the councilor if they want me but other than that, I'm done.

But I've said before, I can live without *my* perfect ending as long as what happens satisfies the storyteller in me.

I agree, a truly happy ending is very unlikely when fighting something like the reapers.  But I needed more than what we got.  Something, ANYTHING.

Marc Saltzman? That guy who talks about gadgets before the movie starts?

Did not know he did work for CNN.

Well he's their tech correspondent.. so it could be that he's a consultant haha.. Not sure.. just remember hearing ME3 on my XM Radio in the car and ears perked up.

Just watched a little segment on youtube by some guy explaining why the ending was great and we are all wrong. Ended by saying he felt that Bioware was genius for ahem "not giving us the ending we wanted, but giving us the ending we needed".

I respect his views and opinions, but I don't really need the feeling of hollow disapointment that this ending provided.

One thing he did say though was that if you go into the ending with bare minimum war assets then you don't get to choose between red, green or blue space magic. Is set as destroy as standard... Does anyone know if this is true? If so what does it mean?

Guys name on youtube was simongenius1 if anyone else wanted a look into madness.

Holding the line. Somehow...

I agree, if he thinks that we all need this type of ending, when he hasn't taken any time to talk with us....nope not listening to him.

My shep would probably go and retire to some nice tropical place with Kaidan and have a bunch of little brown eyed biotic children. ^_^  Tali and Garrus having kids (can they????hmmmm quarian/turnian babies....what would they look like....) Everyone else living their lives the way they want, and having a long peaceful life......to that end, I'd also be happy even if shep died as long as there is some kind of ending where we find out how everyone else is doing afterwards. And the mass relays aren't turned into magical space dust.

Apparently the synthesis (green) option is the hardest to unlock. My mom got me the collector's edition game guide as a surprise when the game came out and it says in there that you have to build your war assets up to a certain level before that ending is unlocked. So I guess that would make the red ending the basic one, the blue ending the medium one, and the green ending the one you work really hard to get!

I picked the green ending on my first (and only) playthrough.. The only good thing about is that it was green. They didn't take the time to even choose the right memories for my sheppard to remember. There was only Kaiden (though mine died in Vermire), Ashley, Liara, and one other I can't remember at all (I was still in shock anyway).

My LI was Tali, and I didn't even think of her...

Shame on you Bioware... I am dying to play the game again, but I can't get myself to do it because I know it will be pointless due to YOUR choice of ending..

And let's keep holding..

I'll save people the hassle of going through the entire transscript and just quote what was said about the game;

WHITFIELD: OK. And finally, some controversy surrounding the end to Mass Effect 3 from Bioware. What's going on?

SALTZMAN: Right. So Mass Effect 3 is the third and final game in this epic sci-fi role-playing game series that we have talked about on this segment in the past. So people are complaining about the ending. In fact, there's a poll at the Bioware forums online that 89 percent of the people were not happy with the ending.

Some are saying you don't have enough choice. Some are saying it's anti-climactic. I don't want to give away any spoilers here. But suffice it to say that this might be the first time in video game history that the gate developers will release an update, some downloadable content that's optional that could change the ending of the game to please their fans.

There's been some buzz that this is what the developers will do, that you'll have more choice on how the ending of this, you know, very anticipated game plays out at the end, at the climactic conclusion. So kind of is very interesting to follow this. Because Mass Effect 3 fans are not happy with the way the current game ends.

WHITFIELD: My goodness.

SALTZMAN: This will be a first if they actually change the ending. WHITFIELD: Oh, and it appears as those these video games really are appealing to the more adult audience, or at least the bigger kind of kid, young adult audience for sure, Mark.

SALTZMAN: Absolutely. The average age of a gamer in the U.S. is 35 years old.

WHITFIELD: Oh, my gosh.

SALTZMAN: Believe it or not, which is probably twice that you'd expect of an average age of a gamer. But, you know, as we grew up jumping over barrels and chomping dots and chasing ghosts and now we're having kids and we're still craving interactive entertainment. So there is something for everyone.

WHITFIELD: Wow. So almost the middle-ager crowd. All right.

SALTZMAN: That's right.

WHITFIELD: Mark Saltzman, thank you so much. Appreciate it.

i think everyone should look at "other" sites, remember crackers found the "from the ashes" dlc on disc for all platforms, they have now just found "other" items on disc.

i keep tabs on "dodgy" xbox, gamer websites and these guys are really thourgh, they found files for other squadmates, some rather large mediafiles which they cant decode just yet.

i think were all being screwed over because some of the full game was removed so it could be sold as DLC, in fact i think we paid for "part" of the full game.

i DO NOT blame bioware in this, there doing what the men in suits (EA) are telling them, remember EA has a history of screwing ppl over in games in recent years, remember some of the NFS games, fifa games all had the years DLC on disc, i mean come on how can a ton of cars, tracks and car extras all be a tiny 108kb file (in some cases it was just 8kb) and then DENY its all on disc.

if EA did split ME3 up for DLC purposes then they have made the WORST mistake ever, remember your customer and user rights DO APPLY to software, you paid for a full game, NOT PART of one.

so again game cracking pros HAVE found a TON of other stuff on the discs and game files.

i'll keep updating as i find out more.

(i cant post links to said websites as it is against the TOS)

To be honest, that transcript makes me angry; their statements and reactions to revelations as to the average gamer age in particular. It just shows that people still view video games as childish, juvenile, and immature, thus applying those same stigmas on the gamers themselves.

Not to mention, they got a few facts wrong(namely, the "first time in history a developer has changed the ending to a game.")

The only problem is that they are wrong as we know it. Bethesda has done this kind of thing before when they decided to change the ending of Fallout 3.

This is how I should have felt after mass effect 3's ending

^This.

The ending to Scrubs was amazing. I shed tears of joy and sadness at the same time. Joy because it was an inspiring, thought provoking closure to an amazing show, and sadness because I was sad to see it go.

Bioware could learn a thing or 20 from this.

If the ending to ME3 was inspiring we wouldn't be having this problem... That was a great ending. Anything can happen.

My ex sent that to me a couple days ago, he's been following all this since I went off the deep end about the endings earlier this week.  He hasn't played the games yet, though he's had them since the original ME was released.  He is also severly anti spoiler, so I have never been able to talk about the games with him.  Now he's gone and spoiled himself for it and is in support of the movement, even posting stuff on facebook in support since he's not on the forums here.  It's really awesome.

As I said oriignally, without bashing the Whitfield lady, she's not exactly a braniac for tech stuff, she was just interviewing the guy and they only had like 5 minutes for the whole piece so they rushed through lol
