Our protest has made the CNN Tech people, so that's a good thing. They know that at least 89% of us don't like the ending and they commented on this being an historical moment.

Nice

You know, my moral has been steadily going up this week. i think we will win this.

The only problem is that they are wrong as we know it. Bethesda has done this kind of thing before when they decided to change the ending of Fallout 3.

In fairness, Bethesda didn't necesarily change the ending, they added to it. While many people here want the actual endings themselves to be changed.

If the hallucination theory is right then there isn't an ending yet...

And to add on to that, the majority of us don't want the ending CHANGED, we want it COMPLETE.

I personally am fine with them leaving in the ending we got.  Just add in endings that let me retire to Eden Prime with Liara.

And have squiddy babies.  The whole reason I'm here is to have bouncing blue smurf squiddy babies.

True but they listened to the fans and gave them something they wanted. And Fallout 3's ending made sense. It was straightforward so they didn't need to change it.

However I doubt ME3 will change the endings. I think it's more likely that they will do something similar to Broken Steel. Of course....they could do both! :wizard:

We just have to hold the line until then.

transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1203/17/cnr.03.html The Mass Effect 3 CNN Piece from this afternoon's transcript is up! :D

Reading it now haha

To be honest, that transcript makes me angry; their statements and reactions to revelations as to the average gamer age in particular. It just shows that people still view video games as childish, juvenile, and immature, thus applying those same stigmas on the gamers themselves.

Not to mention, they got a few facts wrong(namely, the "first time in history a developer has changed the ending to a game.")

This is true, but since the mainstream media has always seemed to adopt this kind of view it's not like we could realistically expect them to of suddently stopped when refering to us. That's an issue that'll need to be rectified over a long period of time, and is quite outside our scope at this point.

Don't get me wrong, I know that eventually video games will become as popular and expected as television or radio. I just find it disheartening and a little insulting that people share these attitudes toward us right now.

As I said oriignally, without bashing the Whitfield lady, she's not exactly a braniac for tech stuff, she was just interviewing the guy and they only had like 5 minutes for the whole piece so they rushed through lol

Although they may have made an error, the fact that the pointed out that the average age of a gamer is twice what most people thing could be a very good thing for us. Consider that they are basically, and indirectly, stating that the complaints are not coming from angushed teens throwing a temper tantrum but from older and more mature individuals.
In essence it paints us as being mature, reasonable individuals rather than snotty teens (appologies if there are teens here...I'm sure you get the point though).

I am more and more about to think that the ending, regarding Shepards open final fate is a literal masterpiece. (More and more parallels to the Blade Runner movie / versions of the film coem to my mind.)

Still the fate of the other crew memebers must be integrated more. Also the fate of the cameo characters. Too many plotholes there still as much as I try to excuse them. The pacing for that kind of ending just doesnt feel right. It had to slow down and become more philosophocal earlier for that approach the authors and developers took.

I have Blade Runner on director's cut DVD.

While the endings do have paralells, this style of narrative works for the film because the theme of natural vs. created life was basically the premise from the first. Whereas Mass Effect has always been about overcoming insurmountable odds.

I was also thinking about the similarities with Blade Runner's end today, and I remember that in the very beginning, (ME1) Casey did a bunch of voice over promo stuff where he mentioned Blade Runner.  However, whereas the themes of existentialism and technological determinism are present in both, ME has always stressed overcoming impossible odds, even death, to triumph.  Contrast with Blade Runner......where Deckard still bloody well lived and went off with Rachel.  So while you didn't know exactly what happened after that, you at least knew where the protagonist and those still alive in his life stood.

One of the things they missed out on that would've taken a precious second or two are the international implications. These aren't just American gamers. The entire world is up in arms about this.

Exactly, I was just making the first of many points.
Let there be an ending where Shep lives and we can at least headcannon the rest.
Though I also want to see baby Krogans headbutting each other. That would be adorable.

It's a theory I subscribe too, I think everything in the game is real right upto the point where Shepard is struck by the laser, but I think Shepard was caught at the edge of the blast and knocked out, the rest is a dream, at least I believe that's the path bioware were originally taking, then things changed.

People keeps saying 'i don't mind if Shepard dies, as long as it is worth it, etc'. Sorry but for me that doesn't cut it, because my Shep doesn't die (by 'doesn't' I mean 'shouldn't'), as that's not my story... I think we should be able to live (more than just taking a breath in some rubble) if we make the right choices and work our asses off. Maybe i'm just wanting too many rainbows, but as choices are supposed to master in these games, I choose rainbows.

Am I just way to selfi- optimistic?

dispite what the thred says the forced death of shepherd and the need for the chance and choice that allows shapherd to live is the biggest or one of the biggest requests on the segestions thred.

i think everyone should look at "other" sites, remember crackers found the "from the ashes" dlc on disc for all platforms, they have now just found "other" items on disc.

i keep tabs on "dodgy" xbox, gamer websites and these guys are really thourgh, they found files for other squadmates, some rather large mediafiles which they cant decode just yet.

i think were all being screwed over because some of the full game was removed so it could be sold as DLC, in fact i think we paid for "part" of the full game.

i DO NOT blame bioware in this, there doing what the men in suits (EA) are telling them, remember EA has a history of screwing ppl over in games in recent years, remember some of the NFS games, fifa games all had the years DLC on disc, i mean come on how can a ton of cars, tracks and car extras all be a tiny 108kb file (in some cases it was just 8kb) and then DENY its all on disc.

if EA did split ME3 up for DLC purposes then they have made the WORST mistake ever, remember your customer and user rights DO APPLY to software, you paid for a full game, NOT PART of one.

so again game cracking pros HAVE found a TON of other stuff on the discs and game files.

i'll keep updating as i find out more.

(i cant post links to said websites as it is against the TOS)

Kind of sounds how most Demos now are actually full game, but with a "lock" that you have to buy to play the rest. Am I understanding that correctly?
