Speaking of squiddy babies.
Does anyone else think that the Asari are Twi'leks with shorter tentacles?
That has to be at least part of the inspiration behind them.

I'm pretty sure it's actually a drunken bar conversation about "I like girls with ponytails"... that turned into "The perfect alien race would be a planet full of women that had evolved ponytails into their heads"

Edit: Joke ^ - not serious origins

ROTFLMAO that reminds me of the arguement with Liara and Joker.......take Liara's side - No Joker I'm not telling you if I can't independently move my tendrels..........would love to play through again to take Joker's side just to find out :D

I took Joker's side because I wanted to find out too! The answer was worth it :P

@silencemayday It's great! In fact....it might just become my new background

Play it so you can see the massive fleet jumping in through the Sol relay.  That has to be the coolest space-combat scene I've seen in a LOOONG time.

Yeah really made me wish they'd make a Mass Effect space combat game, something along Freespace 2 lines.

They really have enough diverse units to do an RTS, too.  Would love either ^^

Would be AWESOME if you could do a combination; Capital ships and manufacturing resources under a commander, fighters and troop transports under individual player control, and troops that deploy once the transports arrive at a destination...say, boarding an enemy ship/station, or landing on an enemy planet/moon...

Just made me hope that everyone in the fleet had taken their relay jump navigation refresher course or we were gonna have one big pile up at the Sol Off-Ramp haha

Welcome to the fleet, your war asset can be logged in our database at:  http://lugoentertain....com/me3ending/

Once you're noted, report to Admiral Hackett for briefing.

Welcome to the line.

Was working on inching my way through my second playthrough today. I am only up to starting the Tuchanga missions. I'm taking my time this playthrough (for obvious reasons), so I had a nice chat with eve this time instead of rushing it. It made me hate Bioware's message of hope during the game even more.

She talks about becomming a Shaman and gives you a crystal she found during her trials (I guess...you never really see it or use it to my knowledge). And she echos a message that made me want to punch my monitor.

"Take it (the crystal) as a reminder, Commander. In the darkest hour, there is always a way out."

Good to know Shep holds onto those words and won't be debating the starchild...

I know, right? The whole game you are uniting the galaxy and the word "hope" is said numerous times. I still remember my femShep and Kaidan after her last dream. He tells her "what you've done Shepard is build hope." Yeah, so much for all the building of hope for the amazing "bittersweet" endings we received. There was never any hope... well, I guess for us we have M. Shields. <3

I put this in the 'mission statement' thread. I still think that the formulation of that mission is too subjective; but nevertheless.

- I do not want the story of ME3 to come to an abrupt stop, at a Diabolus Ex Machina (the Starchild). I want events in the endgame to follow logically from previous events. I do not want to see the rules of the game changed in its final moments. To change the rules of a game is to change the game. I do not want to see an arbitrary change in the Reapers' motivations, from what we have already been told through ME1 and 2. I want to see our war assets actively contributing to the effort, having an impact in the course of events. I want the fate of my ship and crew to fit cogently in that course of events.

- I am not asking for further 'explanation' as to the appearance of the Starchild, the Mass Relays getting destroyed, and the Normandy getting stranded. The problem is not that I am failing to understand any of these. I am not asking BioWare to justify the ending as it stands. I do not think that this is possible. The protagonist of the endgame is utterly out of character, and he is in a state of complete disregard as to all that he has done since Eden Prime: I cannot recognize that person to be Shepard; he or she is an impostor. I ask that the final role of the Catalyst and the Crucible be rethought.

- These are very general outlines, that make no 'positive' prescriptions; they rather lay out the necessary constraints under which BW ought to rewrite the end. I am not petitioning for any specific ending. I am petitioning only for an 'ending framework' that is logically sound.

The only problem is it's not the only SciFi franchise to go in that direction... Star Wars? The Star Trek movies starring the cast of TNG?

Still laughing at this!

I think that might be a little bit much...also, very common approach in advertisement these days.

I think individual 'dialogues' would work much better, except that we link the posts on youtube together somehow...if that's possible.  Maybe in each video, setup a video response for every other language that we do.  Say, for example, the English video would have video responses from the French, German, Turkish, Russian, etc videos.

Well one idea I had is to maybe have multiple people for each video. Like different people reading each bullet point or something and then editting them together for the final video. I feel that it'll more like a community effort and might make it seem more like the majority is saying this and not the minority. I also think it might have more impact than if one person is reading for each language. But its just a thought I had.

Please come and debate or support the mission statement!

We hold grievances with the current ending and EA/BioWare because:
  • The game's ending fails to meet what we were promised as consumers.
  • The game's ending fails to meet our expectations as fans.
  • The response from BioWare needs to change.
  • We have jobs, families, responsibilities. We dedicate our time to this cause because we genuinely care about Mass Effect and its story.
  • We want to see a product that we, as human beings, as consumers, as fans, and as players can be proud of.
Retake Mass Effect 3 - Hold the line.

I wrote this in the Amazon.com reviews for the game

Imagine, if you will, that you were running a marathon. Imagine that you had spent years training for that day, putting your heart and soul and energy into it.

Now, imagine that the day of the marathon, your loved ones are there cheering you on. That feeling of joy and pride washes over you as you take off, every mile pumping your adrenaline, forcing you to go on. And you feel good. No... you feel SATISFIED!

Finally, the end is in sight! The finish line is just on the horizon! You push and you run. It gets closer and closer. You are now ten yards away! Finally, the feeling of accomplishment you will feel when you cross that line will finally come!

And then, at the very last minute, someone leaps from the crowd and cripples both your kneecaps with a softball bat...

That is what the experience of Mass Effect 3 is.

Until the very last moment, the game seems nearly perfect.  The atmosphere, gameplay, and story seem to be everything we have been waiting for in order to complete Commander Shepard's story.  But then, you hit the last ten minutes and it's a slap in the face.  After you watch the final (nonsensical) cutscenes, you feel as if you've been betrayed and from that point on, the game no longer has any replay value whatsoever.  I loved Mass Effect 3 but now all that sticks out in my mind is that terrible ending.  It's difficult to say anything else that has not already been said.  When the game is good, it's great and then it pulls the chair out from under you at the very last minute.

I fully realize that this post will get lost in 1683 pages of what I can only assume is mostly outrage. Simply put, they Dragon Age II'd us. You spend this whole game being told that your decisions matter, and that they will impact everything.... and then at the end, you get the exact same ending with the illusion of choice.

Please for the love of (whatever it is you believe in) stop promising unique endings if all paths lead to what is essentially the same point no matter what you do.

Exactly OP I can see what we got for one ending not all three and actually the larger implications of the ending purposed is even worse. All endings have the relays being destroyed which means you are stuck where ever you are if you didn't jump to your home world by the time your exit got fried you aren't going to. That means unless Hackett ordered a staggered retreat for all alien races then a ton of aliens are hanging around a broken Earth and will need to land eventually.

Add to that if you picked to destroy all tech that means all tech shep cybernetics are on the list which would also imply so are every ship , computer, cell phone, omni tool, radio, ect in the galaxy are on the snuff list so we've now got an even bigger problem all ships in the galaxy in space will shut down and crash and or float around until they make contact with something that destroys them or a planet that pulls them in that's a lot of dead or starving people....Not to mention you just screwed the entire Quarian fleet they were just learning how to farm and such from the geth placing geth programs into their suits you just killed all that they’ll starve and maynot make it in the long run.

The hybrid option forgoes everyone's free will and makes them into computers but how do they or will they maintain themselves? Computers and nature do not mix you can't leave your laptop outside and expect it to be fine they're cells won't repair themselves so do they have replicators inside them to act like cell would have? And now that also means children are no longer needed and or existing children won't grow any older because machines don't experience age.

It's from a mod called Blue Planet: War in Heaven that depicts the GTVA going to war with the United Earth Federation, great story that's also coincedentaly about saving Earth from overwhelming opposition.

But as much as I'd love to go on a rant about how much I love Freespace I won't derail the thread anymore.:P
