Well I don't think it's about what we want, it's about what's right, and the current endings are just not right

Yeah, I've been saying that all day....

well, i was working on my n7 armor replica bevor all 'this' started. but seeing my demotivation towards the whole franchise i might just go with the ncr ranger again this year.
but, those are all brilliant ideas. i might just do that. well, not the first part. 4am might seem like a strange time for something like that.. maybe i'll go with the plastic model.

I'm surprised folks aren't talking about the CNN report that came out --- or is that old new now?. They have a segment where they review video games and 75% of the review was taken up by talking about the ending and the retake ME movement / fan dissatisfaction.

I fully realize that this post will get lost in 1683 pages of what I can only assume is mostly outrage.

And your assumption would be incorrect, it's bloody amazing how calm and well behaved most have been considering  the boiling passion inside them, it's been some time since I've seen anyone post with outrage.
For the first time in a long while I'm proud to be a part of this community.

I fully realize that this post will get lost in 1683 pages of what I can only assume is mostly outrage. Simply put, they Dragon Age II'd us. You spend this whole game being told that your decisions matter, and that they will impact everything.... and then at the end, you get the exact same ending with the illusion of choice.

Please for the love of (whatever it is you believe in) stop promising unique endings if all paths lead to what is essentially the same point no matter what you do.

With all due respect, no they didn't.

Dragon Age II was never about your choices defining the outcome, though how you approached the ones that were available certainly played a part in the endgame. I realize that my views are in the minority, but for me that game was a very well-executed allegory for how life just plows on. The Hawke family saga wasn't about overcoming impossible odds, it was about survival and attempting to make your way in a world ready to tear itself apart at the seams.

In my opinion, Hawke herself is the posterchild for the old saying "those best suited for leadership are those who have never sought it, but instead have it thrust upon them and find, to their great surprise, that they wear the mantle well."

Okay, so it's not so old.

I wrote this in the Amazon.com reviews for the game

Imagine, if you will, that you were running a marathon. Imagine that you had spent years training for that day, putting your heart and soul and energy into it.

Now, imagine that the day of the marathon, your loved ones are there cheering you on. That feeling of joy and pride washes over you as you take off, every mile pumping your adrenaline, forcing you to go on. And you feel good. No... you feel SATISFIED!

Finally, the end is in sight! The finish line is just on the horizon! You push and you run. It gets closer and closer. You are now ten yards away! Finally, the feeling of accomplishment you will feel when you cross that line will finally come!

And then, at the very last minute, someone leaps from the crowd and cripples both your kneecaps with a softball bat...

That is what the experience of Mass Effect 3 is.

Until the very last moment, the game seems nearly perfect.  The atmosphere, gameplay, and story seem to be everything we have been waiting for in order to complete Commander Shepard's story.  But then, you hit the last ten minutes and it's a slap in the face.  After you watch the final (nonsensical) cutscenes, you feel as if you've been betrayed and from that point on, the game no longer has any replay value whatsoever.  I loved Mass Effect 3 but now all that sticks out in my mind is that terrible ending.  It's difficult to say anything else that has not already been said.  When the game is good, it's great and then it pulls the chair out from under you at the very last minute.

bravo i hope people will listen

Oddly enough they didn't actually fling poo at us unlike other [gaming-related] news outlets have been.  It was a pretty good mention and most of the ME3 review time was taken up talking about the fans wanting a different ending ...

Overall vastly better treatment than I expected to get.

It's okay... they're still getting over the fact that apparently Mass Effect 2's FemShep was a guy too ;P
