I wrote this in the Amazon.com reviews for the game

Imagine, if you will, that you were running a marathon. Imagine that you had spent years training for that day, putting your heart and soul and energy into it.

Now, imagine that the day of the marathon, your loved ones are there cheering you on. That feeling of joy and pride washes over you as you take off, every mile pumping your adrenaline, forcing you to go on. And you feel good. No... you feel SATISFIED!

Finally, the end is in sight! The finish line is just on the horizon! You push and you run. It gets closer and closer. You are now ten yards away! Finally, the feeling of accomplishment you will feel when you cross that line will finally come!

And then, at the very last minute, someone leaps from the crowd and cripples both your kneecaps with a softball bat...

That is what the experience of Mass Effect 3 is.

Until the very last moment, the game seems nearly perfect.  The atmosphere, gameplay, and story seem to be everything we have been waiting for in order to complete Commander Shepard's story.  But then, you hit the last ten minutes and it's a slap in the face.  After you watch the final (nonsensical) cutscenes, you feel as if you've been betrayed and from that point on, the game no longer has any replay value whatsoever.  I loved Mass Effect 3 but now all that sticks out in my mind is that terrible ending.  It's difficult to say anything else that has not already been said.  When the game is good, it's great and then it pulls the chair out from under you at the very last minute.

Ha this is brilliant and so accurate. Kudo's (oh and here have a magic wand :wizard:)

Ooooo! Moon Tiara Magic! *throws glitter*

An exerpt of a comment I made on Forbs:

On this post: BioWare Mass Effect 3 Executive Producer Casey Hudson Addresses New Movie

" I will simply say that if anyone thinks they got from this game at
the end what Bioware said they would, they are in the vocal minority.
The real controversy is that they did not do what they said and
advertised all along. If you go out and start reading the millions of
fan comments, social blogs, and news articles, it becomes quite clear.
Rationalizations to make the ending work abound and are just wrong
however well portrayed or conceived. This fiasco will go down in game
history and will be a point of discussion for years. Even if Bioware
attempts to make it right which they should, it soils their reputation. I
dare say it has damaged their franchise and anything associated with
it. It is really a pity. They could have had a great star that shined. "

this is my letter to bioware.
dear bio ware
ive been an advid gamer since i was 4 years old. splish splashing my koolaid as i walked between the sets of gameing gonig on in my household. the 2600s were amazing in the day .very fun and. challenging. i knew i loved them then. growing up with the n.e.s
i foundmyself loving the depth and the pretty graphics! and the new styles of games that seemed to spew forth from the ethers of peoples crative minds.
incluiding ZELDA! an amazing axtion game that took us to hyrule that was magical and u used a powerful sword to beat bnad guys :) . after that i knew ihad found something different that i latched on to. the sense of. mattering. the sense of acomplishing a goal that made u a hero
to overcome something thats evil and wrong in the world . to be what a hero is in the fairy tales. even greek heros acomplish their goals despite flaws in themselves or sacraficing alot to achive the goal .
i grew fasinated with history and cultures and fighhting. i studied sword fighting taekwondo and anything i could get my hands on.
it was in the late 80s that i discovered. dragon warrior* at the time* dragon quest now. it was my first real rpg . it let me discover a world with dragons monsters slimes! and al sorts of new creatures i never seen before. i was enchanted. i knew from then on. thats the kind of game ill love til i die.
final fantasy came along. yes i was on boat since final fantasy 1 . al these told adventure and overocming the evil villan in the end.
some final fantasys had some tradgedies in them like final fantasy 7.. it was one of my all time favorites to this day . so no i dont expect ta hpay sunset and sunshine and rainboows in ther end life does suck. we choose rpgs to give us some measure of hope and to reasure us that we are really good people inside. not many people belive in each other but deep down we are all sheperds in some way or form.
when i got my hands on diablo 1 and 2 it let me play for hundreds of hours exploring hte loot and keep killin stuff ! and that w as great . the story against a real bad ass was alright.
then came a brilliant piece of work. K O T O R !!! i loved loved loved that game it soon became my most fav game. i not only could build nmy charactor which ever way ichoose... my jedi kicked ass. he could be a powerful jedi spell slinger or . a melee specialst.. with golden or silver light dsabres that no one in the normal lucas trilogies had!
i explored what the universe wqas like.. before the evil empire. and lovedi t.. and loved the paragon / renagade stuff that changed m,y compasnions and my own apearaqnce to match it!
k o t or 2 came along and refined it and enhanced it for me. and that was realllllllly great!! its to bad unever gave us k o t o r 3 :(
in the meantime between kotor2 and mass effect ( i played some wow ) and alot of childish children griefed eachother for kicks and giggles. and it left me with this sense of huh? wasnt hte piont of these games to help each other and achive greater things?
i guess rpgs are better for me and the way i want to play. so when mass effect 1 came out and the whole space guns with some jedi like powers came out .. i knew i had found my new hoime.. the choices were rough and profound querstions. you didnt buckle with the hard to answer questions!
wih several play throughs and alot of answers i found. i finally acomplishedm y perfect play though. with choices i absolutely loved. savingwrex .ashley. and vu-s hope saving the rachni queen . i had trust that.. these alies
would help me in the future games osme way.
mass effect 2 came out and it started with sheperd dieing and itrusted bio ware .. this is radically different start then i was expecting but . ill hand it to you guys u pulled it oout! it was as amazing as the first game. better combat to! .
the choices were as hard as the first. doi save hte collector base or do i screw over cerebus? do i make them smaller so the reaper threat isnt fought on two fronts? yes! . was i able to save sheperd. not on the first few run thoughs haha!. but i evnetually got and found every secret i could. crafting my perfect walk though. adding to the third gmaes chances of gaining the victory i wanted over the reapers

third game came out. every step of the way was breathrtakingly awesome knowing ful well not many of us would make it out with even a perfect run though. how coulds it? if the reapers we as bad ass as the first two games made them out to be right/
whewen thane and mordin died i cried ewach time im 33 years old now .. and htats a rarer thing for me. esp at some thing that isnt realyl real u kno?
when we went to london and said our good byes iw as prepared ot have to sacrafice sheperd in tohwee hopes everyone else has a chance at hope ofr the future.( maybe a mass effect 4?) lol
ashacket called sheprerd i knew this was it. he wasgoing to die as he hit the button that beat the reapers finnaly.
but instead hew colaped i gasped OMG NO! GET UPO SHEPERD GET UP yes,. i yelled that.the elevator went up to the next rom
and i seen this weird ai child standing there.. talking ot him i was sitting and waiting to make sure i got my paragon action in in time!. but it didnt come. my mouth started to drop as he explained the weird .. choicesi had to make?
do i wana beat the reapers but kill everything in th galaxy? .. no ... do i wanna contro ltem and become the bad guy? no.. do i wanna force everyliving thing to combine with some weird space magic synth dna? no..wel what shouldi choose?
the theme of the 2.95 games sofar has been to destroy the reapers so they cant hurt anyone annymore. soo i said to myself .thats hte one sheperd would pick thats what he would want. so i choose to destory .
only to find out that the whole planet.. the citidel the repaers the fleets. the relays and the galaxy blows up.
next scene. fw the normandy is still alive. theres stil hope for osme resemblenece of hope right/ .nope. it crahslands on some world that we dsont know of and .. they are alone. with my LI tali and joker stepping out into the unknown .
CUT TO CREDITS?????
WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?????????????
the betwilderment comernces.. no this cant be i try snapingm yself out of it. ending th ecredits early . to see the star gzer grampa tell his grand mid about * the sheperd*
and i should buy the DLC??
wtf did i just get dooped by sopme phillisophical major in college preforming osme kind of test study for amidterm or some childish attempt at getting even more money for a video game i already paid for???
no it cant be. i must have osmething wrong.. i cant belive it.. i explored everything said everything made hundreds of trips arond the galaxy making sjure i found every thing. i hadmy war asets up past 6.5 k
i know there must be some way too make the selerians and the krogans help us but i couldnt retry it right now. iw as walking around my back yard in a stouper.. bewildered and befuddled.. hours later i finaly walked back in the house. my mom was waiting for me and was asking what the heck i was doing out there i said mom
ever had one of those moments in a book that u knew asgonig to hapen and it didnt make it any less profound?................ well imagine that moment was.. pick a color red blue r green.?
and that was it. i told her about mass effect and how the choices resembled a choose your own adventure. but to end the series on a pick a color anhailiation is. down right to simple..
she told me. go online and protest the sily ending then.,. write a letter.. but that day i couldnt i was to fearful of what i might write. and i was right i was .. to emotional to give a proper rersponse iwoulda used much morte colorful words.
when iwas able to go online finaly. days later i found.. that i wasnt alone. and that there was a new movment happening a retake mass effect movment.. for hte first itme in days i felt atwang of hope deep down in my heart. maybe it could be fixed? maybe they meant to indoctorate us to beginwith? ..
maybe we could help them write a better ending? ..
days go by and more and more people comke and go each echoing hte basicly same mesage.
the game was aweosme we are mature and responsible people( rpgers normaly are?) do i think bioware is evil? no.. do i think they goofed on me 3? not really.. do i think the wohle theme of the story was muddled by the last few minutes of the game? yes. not only did it noty answer some basic end gmae questions. what hapned to everyone. do they work togather do they even survive/
but it doesnt even answer how the nromandy got to that new world ? or what hpaened to the galaxy once the explosions of color happened.

i understand that te grampa told the story to the grand kid. and that the grandkid interhjectedhimself into the story at several times . like the dreams. the beginning where he couldnt be saved and at the end as the god child ai .( he put himself in those shoes ) knowing that some facts that realy didnt belong in the story.
bur hes a kid he can imagine it the way he wants ot as grampa told him the story right?
at the end maybe it was the kid who thought up the simplier endings to understand?or the detials got lost and thats hte best grampa couldgive answers to the kid?
either way.
the kid was and grampa story thati s the wohle mass effect 3 story line is.. done in a way to make us speculate right? well if u give people an inch they take a foot and .. witho ut atleast some concrete facts to the end of the story. they feel cheated out of hte other game expeirences they included into mas effect 3.
their cohices realy iddnt matter becuase * details were lost in the meantime* of the end of mass effect 3 and the grampa tielling the story. soo whats left ?
you said u woulsnt do anything after this story line . so that takes care of that.
you wil proly do a story on comander coats or james or.. whatever right?. during the mass effect timeline but on after sheperd dieds/ or lives ? who knows? .
what im trying to say is congradulations u made an epic series and an epic game. i just wish the ending had closure.

sincerley
jeremya loyal true hearted hero sheperd would be proud of.
