That's okay~! As long as you acknowledge your mistake and correct it~!  Damn space magic

Exactly!  I know it's hard to tell based on usernames...but that's why it's better to assume that some of us are women. We do exist! :P
I think we're all proud to be here holding the line together. :wizard:

I am currently writing my email to Bioware! But I have no idea how long it should be....I think it might turn into an essay :P

Fangirls unite! Jack is one hell of a mascot don't you think;)

Personally I prefer Liara or FemShep~! But Jack's okay as well

Well I have a soft spot for Jack because I was really hoping one of my Sheps could romance her....Oh well. :(

But FemShep is definitely the BEST mascot!!:wizard:

I never understood why the whole bit with the Marines in the bar was a Renegade situation? Shouldn't it have been a Paragon? Since its increasing morale and all that?

It's a Military Chain of Command thing.  Officers don't hang out with the enlisted men because they may have to order one of them to their deaths in the line of duty.  It's called Fraternization in the legal codes.

Basically it comes from the fact that an officer should comport themselves with professionalism and integrity.  If a conflict of interest was perceived in the heat of battle.  Say an officer was friends with a person in a line of potential candidates for sealing a pressure leak that would result in said person's death, the impartiality and objectivity of the decision could be called into question.. that would hurt morale and risk mutiny, insubordination or hesitation in the most extreme cases which could jeopardize the mission.. hence renegade.

Computin is correct.

However, in the case of Shepard in this scene, it can also provide a morale-boost.

Also, officers aren't immune to the whole "ordered to their death" thing either; a junior lieutenant might be ordered to lead their squad on a diversionary assault on an enemy strongpoint so that the company commander could take the rest of his/her troops around the flank. Such an assault could easily wipe out the diversionary squad, and junior infantry officers are expected to lead from the front.

Morale isn't just happiness though.  The actual definition is the capacity of a group to maintain belief in an institution or goal.  In this case 'morale' refers to the ability to respect the chain of command.  You wouldn't want to think your commanding officer was a party animal who didn't follow the rules and then expected you to follow the chain of command and go to your death.  Anywho, was a quick question, won't drag things off topic haha.

There's a reason that there are entire semesters for just morale at Military Command Colleges lol.  It's not a topic that can be explained in 300 words or less.

EPISODE 5: "The Importance of London"

In this episode we finally learn why London was so important to the Reapers. Not my greatest moment, but it took very little time to complete, so why waste it, right? The next one should be a bit more epic.

LINKS TO CHECK OUT

- An analysis of the current situation with PR
In particular, see KeldorKatarn's post RE: stating your position. It's good to hear you're holding the line, but don't stop there - make sure they don't forget why you're holding the line!

- Further to the above, ArmyKnifeX's RetakeME Mission Statement thread.

- A conglomerate poll regarding some options for an Ending DLC

- Donate to Child's Play

- Contact BioWare at: contact@bioware.com

- A neat story (in my opinion anyway :D)

-------------

ARTICLES YOU MAY WANT TO RESPOND TO

- A fan has made an FTC complaint. Let them know this is the action of one person only.

- Destructoid mocking the RetakeME movement

-------------

DON'T FORGET ...

- Stay strong, stay heard, but stay civil!

- Keep the quote pyramids short.

- Ignore this post.

- Please link to images rather than embedding! It keeps the pages clean. Plus we don't want anyone taking a quick look here and saying "oh that thread, it's just full of memes". We're serious, so let's show it!

-------------

And to finish up, a quote I saw on someone's shirt today:

THE HARDER YOU FIGHT, THE HARDER IT IS TO SURRENDER

Let's do this, BioWare! Mass Effect deserves a better ending!

@Computin:

Yes, I can certainly understand that in the macro sense. However, I would argue that what they teach in Command College is geared more toward a conventional type of war (even taking into account World War III's doomsday scenario), and here Shepard is leading the effort to resist the total annihilation of all spacefaring species. Add to that the fact that Shepard, a mere commander, is mustering generals and admirals to her cause, and reporting directly to the Alliance Navy CIC.

Well we need a assistant. Traynor is more of Liara's assistant since she would be having to find all this stuff.

Do you have all five comics up on a single site? I'd love to show these to my girlfriend, who is an accomplished artist herself.

I'll agree with that.  Shepard is a completely different case.. SPECTRE status included.  He/She's far more like a Captain Picard than a British Naval Captain.
