Here's my Amazon Review.
When I started this massive half-decade long adventure into the world of Mass Effect, it was one of most amazing games I had ever played. I was taken in by the lore, the story and the sheer bloody amazing effects that your choices can have on the storyline. I've played RPGs all my life - but never something like a Bioware game.
ME1 was fantastic. ME2 was incredible. Mass Effect 3 started out with the sense of urgency, desperation and epic proportions that made you feel like this was really a race to determine the fate of an entire galaxy. The graphics were definitely upgraded (the new hair for FShep was great - nice job with that)and the gameplay was similar to ME2 but had the new bonus of being able to reach around and grab someone from behind cover. That was endless hours of fun right there. You can now modify and upgrade weapons to some extent - which is a happy medium compared to the overwhelming pile of stuff that gathered in ME1. The story was, well, it was epic. (Although not being able to skip some scenes is a little annoying)
And then there was the last ten or so minutes of the game. This has a become a massive complaint and I'm reiterating it now because everyone needs to know that there are hundreds, thousands more like me who share the same opinion. This isn't a 'minority' or a 'group of hardcore fans', this is a lot of concerned gamers - concerned that Bioware is making a huge mistake when they've done so well in the past. First of all, the lack of a final boss was rather annoying and not being able to really have the real choice to save Anderson was a downer. 'Saving' him, according to IGN guide, was giving him a few more sentances before he died right next to you. That was it. Really? Anyway, moving on, Shepard gets floated up to some magical land where Space children can tell her/him what they have to do and Shepard just GIVES UP. Wait what? Shepard, the person who just united an entire galaxy, took down a Reaper with one gun, who died once and then came back, navigated Illos and the Omega-4 Relay and returned with a blown up Collector base? They just say 'okay' and pick one ending. Not 16 different endings. ONE ENDING. Doesn't matter how paragon or renegade,or what your choices were - same ending. Mass Effect has been built on Shepard doing the impossible and somehow Magic Space Child can just suddenly be like 'nope' and Shepard takes it?
That was the biggest complaint. A few minor complaints I have involve War Readiness decaying so quickly and the lack of straight Love Interests for Female Shepard. You get Thane (who dies), Kaidan and Garrus. That was it.
