There wont be an ME4 I mean really what the hell is the plot gonna be about??? We've had three games of fighting reapers, they're no longer a threat, with these endings anyway.
The Mass Effect universe offers enough to tell a good story...or at least it used to.
The Reason why they shot themselves in the foot with ME4, is, that the Universe that we've grown to love is gone.
No more Mass Relays means no more galactic community. Just small clusters of isolated worlds, fighting for survival.
It won't feel like Mass Effect anymore.
But I somehow fear that the reason behind the shockingly similiar endings was, that they are indeed planning to do ME4 and for the story they have in mind for that, they need the Mass Relays destroyed and they need the Normandy to crash etc.
I highly doubt they would abandon Shepard in a direct sequel. Possibly it could be about finding a way to survive. Probably dive deeper into reapers, where they came from and how to master the Mass Relays.

I have just come across on my second playthrough (dragging my feet for a week on this one) on Liara's project again, the little box that suppposedely carries the information of this cycle for the next cycle in case things go bad, and having been through the endings as they are I couldn't help but laugh at the piece where she says the box contains information on x, y and the "mass relays"... which mass relays?
Hahahaha! oh this made me laugh so much, I never thought about that

Caught up with whats going on in the thread. I hope this whole fiasco isn't some ploy to give us Mass Effect 4. I mean if they want to explore this series further more power to them, but in the mean time give the endings their due.

I would love more games- more games that make sense and have quality content. Particularly the endings. *cough*

My theory on this whole thing is that they blew their budget on marketing. Most of the trailers are 10x better then the ending.
The Take Back Earth Cinematic was sexy. I was actually hoping for the ending to be something like that, except with a space battle included. The field-to-field battle with Reaper and ship debris raining down; maybe seeing that weapon that blew the hole through the deralict Reaper in ME2 being rebuilt for use.
Massive payback, one bug-shaped abomination at a time.

Which lets be frank, they didn't need to waste money on marketing ME3 (at least that much). I mean it is already established itself as a very popular franchise, and it was gonna rake in money regardless of it's flashy trailers and whathave you.
A lot of that money would've been better spent on finishing the product and making it an amazing end to a trilogy. Which it would have been were it not for the poor excuse for the ending.
Honestly while I was playing it I was saying (this is the greatest ending to a trilogy in video games) till the ending. All that time and effort wasted because of some poor choices made by the dev's (and EA ofcourse.)
I hope they fix it, I mean like Brent Knowles said it the best in his article about this topic. One specific quote "Entitlement is really a right, for the gamer, because they have participated, actively, in the game itself. "

We hold grievances with the current ending and EA/BioWare because:
- The game's ending fails to meet what we were promised as consumers.
- The game's ending fails to meet our expectations as fans.
- The response from BioWare needs to change.
- We have jobs, families, responsibilities. We dedicate our time to this cause because we genuinely care about Mass Effect and its story.
Retake Mass Effect 3 - Hold the line.
- We want to see a product that we, as human beings, as consumers, as fans, and as players can be proud of.
This is our collective mission statement.
Spread the word. Use it in emails, forum posts, criticisms. Stand by it.

I said it last night (pre all-night horror movie marathon at the cinema... 70's horror movies were screwed up btw) and I don't know if it was replied to or what, because I didn't have a reception at the cinema...
But while I think these points are good, I think we need to be clearer about what we actually want to see in an ending. For example, we should indicate that what we want most of all is a conclusion for our characters. I recommend adding another bullet point or two with specifics that we all agree on, that's my 2 cents.
As it stands, they're very clear and succint, but vague - which leaves them open to interpretation, leaving the brass with an excuse to argue that we don't know what we specifically want.

Huh....if a goverment agency gives in, why should a gaming developer not? This gives me hope.
