From what I've been able to gather, the fan backlash boils down to the fact that all existing endings turn out to be the same result. It's not a matter of it being a bittersweet ending, it is a matter of how after being told there would be a choice, the choice results in very much the same thing. It, overall, feels very lazy.

The only difference is the beam of color. Everything else... the relays going boom, the fate of the Normandy crew, the fate of Shepard... it is all the same. There is no choice for the ending. It is only the illusion of choice that is essentially a funnel that leads to the same choice. Pick one of three cards, and all three cards just so happens to be the same card.

I've been speculating possible options if DLC is released that could potentially have these endings as being something of a dream sequence, or something that makes it so that the game doesn't end on such a lazy note, but it really feels like a kick to the groin.

Something like what we have could work for a one-off game, or a book, or a movie, but not something that requires hundreds of hours, spanning across 3 games, that emphasized that your choices matter.

How would you feel if the original Star Wars trilogy ended like 2001: A Space Odyssey? Pretty annoyed.<_<

So yeah, instead of Stargazer after the credits, we could have a much older Shepard and his/her love interest saying those last few lines to their kid(s), if any...

-You complain you saw visions and heard voices.
-Your story about the ancient machine race of doom would sound crazy to anyone sane
-You nuked a batarian spiral arm.
-Every shop was annoying because it's your favorite on the station
-You interject yourself into private conversations at random
-You apparently died once already

They have every right to treat you the way they do, if not worse.

But I digress, if you want to hate the residents and belittle their terrible unfair deaths, that's your own business. I hate the Krogan and I hate the Quarians, but I don't make it a point to kill them off or point out how lulz their deaths were because they annoyed me.

Yeah, maybe...then again I was right about everything. And none of the shops were my favourite on the station, they just gave me discounts. As for the interjections, hey, at least I gave them a resolution, no?

I never said I hated them, nor do I find it amusing that they died, probably quite horrifically. It's unfortunate but I just don't particularly mourn their passing as a large portion of them irritated me with their wilful ignorance and intentional blindness. Somehow I don't think it's going to hurt their feelings.

Does anybody else get annoyed that they spent hours getting their Shep's armor just right (Do these Serrice greaves make my ass look fat?) only to end up finishing the game in battered N7 standard armor?

Do reaper lasers magically turn my armor back to default?

No, don't worry Bioware, I wasn't using the sense of immersion anyway. You can have it.

In a nutshell, yes.

That, and an utter lack of any epilogue.

After beating the game more than a week ago I still can't get how bad the ending was out of my head. It still hurts but I have hope because I know that we are all in this together. Our voices will be heard! Holding the line!

ATTENTION TROOPS!!

This is your THIRD hourly reminder to VOTE IN IGN's POLL regarding the ending.

The more we have, the less excuse they have to trash the movement. Please vote. If you don't have a Facebook, make a random one and vote, then don't use it again.

Also, if the thread jumps up by more than 10 pages please repost the link or quote this post, so that people checking in see it too.

Maybe we should all just say we wanted babies? :crying:

I agree here.

Can we just make it a blanket statement that we want a family with our LI? Use it as a motivator for those holding the line? The liara-specific babies thing is just going to end up bothering people.

Well, at least you can have babies with Liara. Those of us whos Shepards went with Tali? Creativity will be required, to put it lightly.

I almost a week too and it's all I think about all the time, it takes me ages to get to sleep because all I can think about is what could have been.

Holding the line for however long it takes!

Actually, I think it's important to say to Bioware that we don't actually want babies shown in the ending. That would annoy a lot of people. Best to allow Shep and his/her LI to reunite and be happy... then leave the rest to the player to fill in after that point.
