(Please excuse the quote but I feel it fits)

~The BSN all sit down next to Anderson~

Anderson: You ever wonder how things would have been different? How our lives would be.....different if this hadn't happened?

I think we all wonder about that, Anderson.

Does anybody else get annoyed that they spent hours getting their Shep's armor just right (Do these Serrice greaves make my ass look fat?) only to end up finishing the game in battered N7 standard armor?

Do reaper lasers magically turn my armor back to default?

No, don't worry Bioware, I wasn't using the sense of immersion anyway. You can have it.

From "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" to "Unwilling Ejection from Disbelief"

Thank you Ed Wood.

So yeah, instead of Stargazer after the credits, we could have a much older Shepard and his/her love interest saying those last few lines to their kid(s), if any...

That would be awesome~!

Omg, YES! Shenko babies all the way :o
...why couldn't Bioware give this option to us...? I mean, who cares if it's epic and memorable? This is epic and memorable too. I don't need Shepard to die to be an awesome game. This isn't a tragedy...if I wanted tragedy, I would watch Romeo and Juliet or I would play Resident Evil or something.

I agree here.

Can we just make it a blanket statement that we want a family with our LI? Use it as a motivator for those holding the line? The liara-specific babies thing is just going to end up bothering people.

I agree here with you in fact I will openly admit I am sick of hearing about little blue babies lol.

Well, at least you can have babies with Liara. Those of us whos Shepards went with Tali? Creativity will be required, to put it lightly.

I've already thought of this and have got it covered. Adoption of Quarian War Orphans. Such as Jona whose parents died in ME2 and ME3

Aw, thank you. I feel like I'm in a therapy group since I have been on this thread since the 8th. Half of my friends and family understand at least since they experinced the same ending as us and are also just as ticked. I just want the choice to have a happy ending as well as any other and if BW has something up their sleeves then I wish they would just tell us so we don't have to keep being so depressed or running in circles. Seriously this emotional rollercoaster is frying my nerves.

Speaking of TVTropes, here's my take on the degree to which just one little part of the ending has issues. There is nothing wrong with tropes, per se, but when a narrative is just one sequence of tired tropes clumsily strung together, I'd say we have a problem. In this case, the "trope density" is off the charts:

[...stuff happens and...]
Shepard is, for the first time, introduced to a Sufficiently Advanced Alien, an Energy Being who, to take A Form You Are Comfortable With appears as an Adorably Precocious Child. This being, an ancient Artificial Intelligence, explains that he has seen so many Robot Wars across the millenia that, in an attempt to resolve the situation, he developed a Reset Button solution. In doing so, however, he has become a Well-Intentioned Extremist who sees the struggle between organics and synthetics as an Order vs Chaos problem in which his role is to restore order. His solution, creation of the Reapers, required him to Jump Off the Slippery Slope and accept that The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized; the most advanced civilzations will be periodically "processed" by this Horde of Alien Locusts to short-circuit the Robot War cycle.

After explaining I Did What I Had To Do (which may qualify as a bizarre twist on the Hannibal Lecture), the being claims (in a lightning-fast E = MC Hammer moment) that Shepard's presence "changes things," and presents him/her with a set of Final Solution choices. Each of these choices casually demands that Shepard cross his/her own Moral Event Horizon by presenting catastrophic variations on an End of the World As We Know It solution initiated via a Big Red Button Self-Destruct Mechanism.

In an act of Heroic Sacrifice, without a word of questioning, objection, or realization that "I Forgot I Could Change the Rules," Shepard selects an option and ends the trilogy with a Dying Moment of Awesome.

Just nit-picking, but you forgot Insane Troll Logic, Sudden Downer Ending, and Sequel Hook.

From what I've been able to gather, the fan backlash boils down to the fact that all existing endings results in the same result. It's not a matter of it being a bittersweet ending, it is a matter of how after being told there would be a choice, the choice results in very much the same thing.

I think the most basic complaint is the lack of any sense whatsoever. The 'ending' is not only incongruent with the rest of the story, but incoherent in itself.

Actually, I liked the whole Stargazer part. The series really did feel like a legend being passed down, as with vocal tales, elements can change.

It's how the whole thing turned into a Whose Line introduction line is what irked me. "Where everything is made up, and your choices don't matter"

The sacrifice that was spoken was the destruction of all the races mass relays which means people are going to be stranded galaxy wide.

Nah, almost no one is stranded. Bioware already made it clear in The Arrival (ME2 DLC) that destroying mass relays destroys most if not all of the star system. With the size of the explosions at the ending of 3 and the fact that you can *see* these explosions from a *galaxy map* type of view, means you've destroyed more than the Reapers ever would have.

So Earth and the planet Joke landed on was destroyed by the explosion as I understand it. So what happens when you see Shepard take that final breath ? Shouldn't he/she be dead as well in the explosion ?

Your theory does not make sense in accordance to how the Mass Relays worked.

It was sarcasm.
No one *knows* what really happened because the endings don't make sense. What is known is what Bioware already established in the DLC from ME2. It's a game so I'm not going to say any aspect is *fact* but if you destroyed the Mass Relay in that DLC, you'd know what I'm referring to. I suspect that the people working on 3 did not take that into account when they decided to have all the relays destroyed. If the relays being destroyed (as previously established by the game) result in an explosion that takes so much out, how much more will be taken out if you can see a larger chain reaction explosion from the viewpoint of what is essentially the galaxy map on the Normandy?

Been on this thread almost as long, mate, and we totally understand where you're coming from.

There is absolutely no need to feel ashamed of these feelings, or to seek solace in others who share your hopes and dreams. I certainly hope that I've been as much help to those of us in this thread and on these forums as they have been to me, and the entire community has made this experience overwhelmingly easier to bear.

Stand strong, stand fast, stand together.

Hold the line!

Yeah I gotta admit I feel like I am in a therapy group too, which isn't a bad thing I think I would be a state if I didn't have you guys to talk to, though I now officially have my dad to talk to about it and he is not happy at all. I also just want the choice of a happy ending I mean there literally was one ending, choose your colour and die, with your squad being chicken sh*** and running away via space magic.

I agree with the no babies sentiment. That fugly star baby kid is a good indication that they're not accomplished at making children look good in the game. There was a CG preview in February too with another absolutely Hideous child which can be seen here:

I'd rather no epilogue babbies to something so grotesque.

They have every right to treat you the way they do, if not worse.

But I digress, if you want to hate the residents and belittle their terrible unfair deaths, that's your own business. I hate the Krogan and I hate the Quarians, but I don't make it a point to kill them off or point out how lulz their deaths were because they annoyed me.

Yeah, maybe...then again I was right about everything. And none of the shops were my favourite on the station, they just gave me discounts. As for the interjections, hey, at least I gave them a resolution, no?

I never said I hated them, nor do I find it amusing that they died, probably quite horrifically. It's unfortunate but I just don't particularly mourn their passing as a large portion of them irritated me with their wilful ignorance and intentional blindness. Somehow I don't think it's going to hurt their feelings.

the fact that you two are discussing this shows how much the stories of these games drew us, as gamers, into them. your conversation is what this is all about. we all played the same exact game yet, based on our characters, we have vastly different interpretations of the same situations. this is a testament to the awesomenss that Bioware has put forth for us to enjoy.

Unfortunately its the exact reason we are also so upset at these endings. They take away from the games. they make the mechanics of the game pointless. the endings make it so that your conversations and discussions about the same thing based on your character for your playthroughs are moot.

This is why we are upset.

Has there been any news? Sorry, I've lost track of this thread for the last 200 pages or so.

On a related note, it's been a week since I finished ME3 and I'm still upset that my Shepard basically screwed everyone over by destroying the mass relays, killing the geth and EDI, letting Garrus and Tali starve on some strange planet, etc. When does the pain end?
