Please link all images. A lot of us don't delete the pic when quoting and we don't need to be locked for image spamming. Also, it makes the server load bigger; links are easier for the server to load than embedded pics (they can lock us for this too).

Yep. Last time I looked, about 85% of respondents who'd finished the game said they weren't happy with the ending.

Are you guys sure they will say something tomorrow about the ending?

No.

Chances are they will continue to stall, distract and either hope we lose interest or do something stupid that makes us look like whiney children.

However, given what information we have available I suspect that they will have to make a decision at some point next week...as to when they'll make a statement on that issue is another matter....

Speaking of TVTropes, here's my take on the degree to which just one little part of the ending has issues. There is nothing wrong with tropes, per se, but when a narrative is just one sequence of tired tropes clumsily strung together, I'd say we have a problem. In this case, the "trope density" is off the charts:

[...stuff happens and...]
Shepard is, for the first time, introduced to a Sufficiently Advanced Alien, an Energy Being who, to take A Form You Are Comfortable With appears as an Adorably Precocious Child. This being, an ancient Artificial Intelligence, explains that he has seen so many Robot Wars across the millenia that, in an attempt to resolve the situation, he developed a Reset Button solution. In doing so, however, he has become a Well-Intentioned Extremist who sees the struggle between organics and synthetics as an Order vs Chaos problem in which his role is to restore order. His solution, creation of the Reapers, required him to Jump Off the Slippery Slope and accept that The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized; the most advanced civilzations will be periodically "processed" by this Horde of Alien Locusts to short-circuit the Robot War cycle.

After explaining I Did What I Had To Do (which may qualify as a bizarre twist on the Hannibal Lecture), the being claims (in a lightning-fast E = MC Hammer moment) that Shepard's presence "changes things," and presents him/her with a set of Final Solution choices. Each of these choices casually demands that Shepard cross his/her own Moral Event Horizon by presenting catastrophic variations on an End of the World As We Know It solution initiated via a Big Red Button Self-Destruct Mechanism.

In an act of Heroic Sacrifice, without a word of questioning, objection, or realization that "I Forgot I Could Change the Rules," Shepard selects an option and ends the trilogy with a Dying Moment of Awesome.

Look at all that yellow! :o

Seriously, though, +1.

Must... resist... clicking... links! Can't... get... addicted... to TvTropes... again!

I would be absolutely shocked if they did.

Once again, any official announcement is, IMHO, not likely to be made until PAX East on 8 April.

Honestly, I kinda fear for the safety of those who will be working the Mass Effect 3/EA/Bioware booth there... Been a while since I've seen this level of fan rage.

And come to think of it... I was kinda hoping to see the noble ship Qwib Qwib take down a couple reapers.

That thought has crossed my mind, but given how civilized the organizer(s) of the PAX East Platoon are, I "have dismissed this claim." :P

I suspect that they will not be able to hold off until April before making a statement...especially if some of the places currently defending them start to realise quite how many of us there are and change their views accordingly....

It's not like the Gabe guy from Penny Arcade would let protests happen anyway.  PAX is big income for him.  I suspect he'll have the convention center security throw anyone out who was protesting.

the fact that you two are discussing this shows how much the stories of these games drew us, as gamers, into them. your conversation is what this is all about. we all played the same exact game yet, based on our characters, we have vastly different interpretations of the same situations. this is a testament to the awesomenss that Bioware has put forth for us to enjoy.

Unfortunately its the exact reason we are also so upset at these endings. They take away from the games. they make the mechanics of the game pointless. the endings make it so that your conversations and discussions about the same thing based on your character for your playthroughs are moot.

This is why we are upset.

Pretty much this, exactly. We are all invested in this universe and we care about its inhabitants to various degrees. I love the Citadel very much, and maybe some other guy doesn't? At the end of the day, we care enough to come out and state why we care or don't care about it, and do so with conviction!

I think the main reason everyone is banding together like this is because it forces us, ALL of us, no matter what we think or who we hate or like, to come together and fight for the very universe we love itself.

There is always something to love in Mass Effect. Be it Turian, Krogan, Asari. Citadel, Omega, Cerberus or Alliance. These endings destroy everything, so that's why it's important to Hold the Line.

Fighting for everything, like big 'guddamn heroes.

ATTENTION TROOPS!!

This is your THIRD hourly reminder to VOTE IN IGN's POLL regarding the ending.

The more we have, the less excuse they have to trash the movement. Please vote. If you don't have a Facebook, make a random one and vote, then don't use it again.

Also, if the thread jumps up by more than 10 pages please repost the link or quote this post, so that people checking in see it too.

I think it'd depend on the definition of protesting, if someone is just hurling insults they'll almost certainly be escorted out. Hopefully that won't happen.

This is going off topic for this thread, but i just wanted post about something lighter after reading the pr thread. That thing about the babies that is.
Hopefully people didn't spam the feedback thread with too much cheese.
Even with a possible somewhat happy ending, babies would be stepping into fanfic territory imo.

I haven't seen anything in several pages so I figured my passing not for the night would be about child' Play.

While we are holding the line, please don't forget the wonderful charity we've been donating to as part of the movement. If you can, show your support by donating to a worthy cause:
http://retakemasseff...ect-childs-play

We may be unhappy about the endings, but in this way we can force Bioware to have (albeit indirectly) a good result from this.

Thanks go to everyone who have been respectful during this time. I am proud to be a part of such a community. =)
