Bioware admits Mass Effect 3's ending might have needed 'more closure'

We've had some incredibly positive reactions to Mass Effect 3, from the New York Times declaring it “a gripping, coherent triumph”, to Penny Arcade calling it “an amazing accomplishment”, to emails and tweets from players who have given us the most profound words of appreciation we've ever received.

But we also recognize that some of our most passionate fans needed more closure, more answers, and more time to say goodbye to their stories—and these comments are equally valid. Player feedback such as this has always been an essential ingredient in the development of the series.

In a very strange way, I have never seen such a unified front of gamers about a given subject, as I have witnessed here on these forums and across the net. To unify and join forces. Its eerily similar to what happens in ME3. Except for the ending. This one we'll win.

Hold the line.

So true. I'm proud to be a part of it.

Hear hear!

Hi everyone,

New soldier here reporting for duty. Cheers all who have been keeping this going. I don’t normally post in forums but you have been both an inspiration and comfort to this aggrieved fan. I have e-mailed, donated to Childs Play, voted in polls and joined the Retake Mass Effect group.

Not sure what else to do except stock up on tea and biscuits, settle in for the long haul and of course...Hold The Line!

Does anyone have an opinion on a Kick-starter campaign? We would have to accept the fact that a new ending will require money and not be free, but it would also show the financial viability of the project. Call me a cynic but I think we have to demonstrate that it is in their financial interest to do what we want; I doubt that anything will originate from the goodness of their own heart.

Not sure how to take this, the hopefull little gamer inside me thinks it's good they at least begin to aknowledge us, BUT the university student studying linguistics in me says that preterite form can be used to signal improbability of an event.

I need some answers Soldiers.

I already have a Retake ME3 Resource site, i'm taking into considerations to make a page to Store the email (or letters) sent to BW/EA from Us. There will be some simple rules about that and a way to report wrong emails or to delete something if you're the one who've written that.

But I'd like (and need) what you think about this litlle project.

Thanks for yours answers.

Grab a gun of your choosing and head to the trenches, but beyond that, nope there's not much else that goes along with the fight, 'cept holding the line of course. See you out there.

Hold the line.

Why is EDI and Joker smiling at the end??? So in the middle of a space battle where literally thousand of fleets are destroyed...all organic life is suddenly within seconds turned to synthetic and you are stuck on some unknown planet and all is BLISS???

What were you thinking, Bioware?

...[i] some of our most passionate fans ...

I am neither most passionate about Bioware nor Mass Effect trilogy and yet I am taking part in the Retake ME3 movement, how would you explain that Mr. Hudson?

Reactions in polls and comments worldwide show that this is already far beyond only "most passionate" fans complaining.

I have also read that on Gamestar.de. In my opinion this is unnecessary and it is damaging our cause. But what can you do? We can't stop him.

A reminder to the soldiers, we are not yet at war with Bioware, let's try to keep it that way, you all proudly hold the line while negotiations take place, so careful where you point those weapons!

You know, there is something that everyone has missed.
I am sure everyone has noticed the new terms of service that came into being on the 2nd of march, telling us that threatening Bioware employees with the banhammer.

It almost like they relised that this amount of hate was going to happen.

ATTENTION EVERYONE:

I have begun work on the masterwork letter I plan on sending to at least ten physical locations at Bioware, not including all e-mails. I also plan on sending the completed masterwork to at least a dozen powerhouses of the gaming industry, such as GameInformer, IGN, and XPlay. When I am done, I fully expect parts or all of it to be published/used by AT LEAST one of them. I will grant them full permission to use it.

I need ANY and ALL extra ideas of where this letter should be sent and ideals to be included. Give them to me, if you have them.

I have decided to write it from the perspective of the gaming community as a whole, using analytic reasoning as the base, and emotional reasoning as both hook, pull, and definitely in the final paragraph. I am currently researching market data, trends, and reading the ideals of others of like-mind to garner more of what I call "points of persuasion".

I am still in the brainstorming and structuring stage. Ideas are welcome. If you have any, post them.

I will diligently spend all day writing this letter, if need be. I can turn the minds of even the most stubborn through speech and the written word. I am famous for it in life.

(Just for the lol factor, I nicknamed this project "The Crucible", and saved it as such on the computer. :P)

Ideas are welcome. All of them. Send them my way.  This can make my letter infinitely more powerful in several ways, one of them is to correctly enable me to claim to represent the thoughts of many minds and not just my own.

The more minds the better.  Help me with ideas.

I for one don't feel any hate, hate only hurts those who feel it.

Yeah, that's a bridge too far for many of us, I believe. Perfect excuse for people outside the cause to paint us as extremists. :?

The reporter from Gamepur was most likely snooping here for a quick scoop and even said "fans filed ftc complaints" (not just one). We really have to be more careful about what we say in this forum.

Actually it was in reaction to a bunch of internet bullies harrassing Jennifer Hepler, a writer for Dragon Age.   Also, nothing justifies personally harrasing Bioware employees.

Wow fourth? I'm sorry you have to go through that four times, no human should be forced to endure it that many times. I get teary eyes everytime Garrus speaks to me at the end but I am still holding out hope that it will become better eventually.
