Indeed. I'd totally respect the Artistic vision argument IF...

It was the product of one person.
It wasn't a committee-generated product.
It wasn't intended for commercial gain.

but most importantly I'd go with that Arty nonsense....

If it wasn't a bloody game!

And as for artistic integrity....

How much integrity do you have if you pick up a stock image from the internet and copy it for your background at the end. I'm talking about this:

http://www.macwallpa...s-Cold-Desktop/

There's your artistic integrity right there.

Their integrity was lost when they stop creating art of art sake and in stead  start for doing it for commerical consumption. They are  now sudject to the same rules as even other movie director, musican,  out there..
Uwe Bowl had his "Artistic Integrity" and guess what... his movies were terrible. So bad that  I have not heard his name in years.

Clover Studios, made a great and I mean absolutely great game called Okami for the PS 2 ...it was a work of art.. a painting in motion.  Guess what ... Capcom  closed the studio ... the game did not sell enough, sadly though alot of people loved it.  So yeah, lets get real games are a business and in a business the bottom line is money.

I never understand art but I don't understand why a game would be considered as such

In the same way a movie is considered art, but what needs to be remembered here is the developers are handing over the paint brush to the player to complete that art through our choices, unlike movies we have a lot of input on this particular art.

Right, plus creative works are subject to an expectation of quality just like any other product.

Ya know, I just had a thought. What if the writers at Bioware had no idea how to end Mass Effect. So they released a crappy ending that they knew would ****** us off. Then they gather the most prominent opinions and go from there.

Ah yeah I see your point thanks, I did say I don't understand art though hehe ^_^

Art to me is something you enjoy.
So in my case, i hate paintings and sculptures etc etc so i dont consider them to be art. I love anime, movies and games so i consider those to be art.
So ye to me "art" is a concept to express what you feel towards an object(s) or media of any kind.

I loved Okami. I think they even managed to get it released on the Wii before they shut it down. Pity, I don't have a Wii, but there's a game which was truly suited to it.

You're right, of course, about the business side. The problem is that while the developers and coders and artists and everyone else primarily goes into the industry for the love of games and the desire to spread the joy, the companies that Publish and Distribute the games are there for the money and the support of their shareholders. Creativity, Ingenuity and maintainence of standards are all well and good, but they will always be left at the wayside if they threaten profits.

We are still looking for "volunteers" from multiplayer to boycott it and join us here, I know it's a lot to ask, but we need to cover every theater of war, if you are a MP player and want a better ending to the SP, then join us now.

As if people are still playing multi player? I enough numbers to show the game is fine nothing needs to be changed. Everyone's playing multiplayer. It's painful ya, I mean I'd only been playing to help friends who'd not finished galatic ready but I may have to pull myself off it. Also nice to know I'm not the only one who shut off Origins pretty much. I may get laughed at by some but I think I see your logic on it.  Also thanks for being one of our cooler heads sir.

I have followed this thread since I finished Mass Effect 3 a couple of weeks ago, only reading and agreeing with the things being said. Everyone have already written everything I could wish to say about ME3's ending (and I'm proud to see how calm, sensible and passionate everyone have been), but I thought I should acknowledge my prescence anyway - We are many, and it should show. I don't think Bioware did themselves justice with this ending, and I keep wondering exactly why they chose to end it as they did. It somewhat doesn't make sense to me, sicne they could've done many, extremely varied endings, considering that it was the final game of a series.
Not to mention all the personal feelings of disappointment the ending provided. There is much to be said about the ending, but again, everything I consider as a letdown with it has already been thoroughly discussed. The main part of the game is truly brilliant, but I won't play any more until this has been resolved.

I'll keep supporting Retake ME3 and do whatever I can - we can not back down and let this go ignored by Bioware. For theirs and ours sake, they should do something about this, and it's our job to make them realize that. Stay calm and passionate.
If we keep it this way, I actuallt feel hopeful about the future of ME3. Hold the line!

I'm still scratchiing my head over that one. I thought that, normally, when a company pulls a stock photo like that, they license it for exclusive use, it comes out of the catalog, and this kind of embarassment is avoided.

But in all seriousness, the AI-argument is totally irrelevant here. Of course they have the right to not to change it, they have right not to add to it, they have right to stand by it and they have right to live with the consequences.

It's more relevant to ask WHAT they want to do and achieve. It's perfectly clear that if they want to please fans (and by spirits do I hate the word please here, but you get what I'm trying to say), they should do something about "the ending". If they want to keep the franchise alive, they should do something about "the ending".

If they feel that in order to do this they have to sacrifice AI, well, tough cookies, it's a matter of choice, since not only is ME a piece of art (by some definitions), it's also business.

//
also: AI =/= other people have to like it.

True but you know who handle that balance very well.  Professional Athletes... the play for the love of the game but they also play a high level because they want to get paid. They also understand the buisness side of the deal as well because they know if they don't preform....the team may very  release them.   This would be another thing if the endins were excellent, fit well with the story and were well done and artistic. Sweet baby jesus they are just bad...

Okami is a great game. it plays better on the PS 2   which you should be able to get dirt cheap these days and  find a copy used.. Seriously that is still  till this the prettiest game I have played.
