From The Examiner..
“At this time we don’t have any plans to change the ending but are still listening to everyone’s feedback on it.”
Who knew that just one sentence, made in the wee hours of the morning on March 19, could spark outrage? In the hour before this Facebook comment was deleted, and denounced as a mistake, fans took hold of this statement and began denouncing their brand loyalty to Bioware and/or EA. Not only do fans threaten never to buy any downloadable content for Mass Effect 3, but many are vowing never to purchase another EA product until a new Mass Effect 3 ending is announced.
Bioware staff quickly rushed from their beds to put out the raging fire this Facebook statement created. On Twitter, Jessica Merizan announced, "Someone misspoke on our Mass Effect channel. We're still gathering feedback to create content that keeps it in mind. Thx 4 understanding :)" and then locked down a Bioware forum thread about the topic stating, “This was a mistake within our internal communications, not a leak or announcement.” Another comment was left on the Mass Effect Facebook also retracting the previous statement, also reciting the party line that they are listening and ruling nothing out.... "
I really doubt someone would misspeak in Bioware's name. It was just another attempt to take us down, and when that failed, they went back to damage control as soon as possible. The
USA Today also says clearly that Bioware has not reached a decision about changing it. Actually it says they haven't even considered it yet, and are only listening to feedback.
The original sentence states they have no plans on changing the endings, and that was plain true. They don't, and even now they are trying everything they can to dissuade us from carrying on with our requests and demands. However once againt Bioware underrated our reaction, and now they are paying for it.
If this goes on as it is, Bioware will pay most dearly in the future as the fans and customers walk away to new games and companies. They even removed the
TWEET that caused the customers (us) to erupt in outrage. How can they say something and when it doesn't provide the ending they expected , they delete it and say it never happend? But when we want something they did to be deleted so we can pretend it never happen, they refuse to listen?
