it appears that the bioware PR folks are making a committed counter attack over at G4. I've posted my say, but i would greatly apprerciate it if others here who have a better grasp of language and the realities involved in consumerism would get over there and help me to shut them up.. I am neither eloquent nor erudite, and we really need that right now..
Thanks

I don't usually join in over at other websites, but I just couldn't help myself after reading yet another inaccurate article and some of the ignorant comments that came with it. Here's what I chimed in with:

"Shocking G4 that you've actually decided to run with this story. Not only is the headline inaccurate (one guy becomes "critics"), but you're also about a week late. Well done for bringing a new meaning to the word 'news.'

As for the other guys: You can call us geeks, whiners, entitled, you can call us whatever you want. We've been called worse and that won't stop us. It won't stop our movement from growing and we're not going to resort to petty insults. That's not what this movement is about. It's about a vast number of fans of the Mass Effect franchise that have given way more than 100 hours into this series, only to be given a rushed, thoughtless and illogical ending, all of which is contradictory to what we were actually promised by the makers and more.

So when BioWare finally decide to make an announcement, when they finally think, "okay, this is getting out of hand and the worst thing about it is that they're right," and either change/create the ending that we deserve, what will you say then? You'll move from calling us whiners and entitled and begin slating BioWare for pandering to their fans. All of which won't really matter to you because this movement isn't for you, this franchise isn't for you, it won't benefit you. It will benefit us, the true fans, the guys and girls who have stood up for themselves because we were lied to. If all of this makes me a geek then so be it. I'd rather have a geek with the ending that he deserves, than somebody who comments and judges a large group of people about something that they have no idea about.
Cheers."

Just dropping in to show my support again guys. We just need to keep on doing what we're doing no matter what, and act like mature, intelligent adults as we do it. I'm a pretty big pessimist in real life, but I have a glimmer of hope about all this. Hold the Line!

This Skyrim came out in Nov and it is still the same price new.

exactly....it's dropping because of the returns to gamestop/ebgames....places now have to drop their new price to keep up, also, there are lots of folks that ignore the 'critical success' and now focus on gamer reviews and 70-80% of them say the same thing, in any language...it's great until the end...

Exactly, I tend to listen to gamer reviews over the main site reviews.

For example, I bought Skyrim because everyone in the MMOs I was playing at the time was pretty much saying it was the best thing ever since sliced bread.

No no he did-ent just pull the Kathy Bates card.... You'd think the gaming media were some kind of SuperPAC for the game developers.

I'm not even going to watch his video, I don't want to give him importance.

This isn't about story developers needing to be mind readers - I wasnt expecting to the ending that I had drafted in my head as the ending my Shepard would want - I was expecting a bitter sweet ending that left me devistated and sad - but also wanting to go back and start from the beginning just to re-experience the drama, the horror and the emotion behind the series.  And ending like that would have probably involved Shepards death - no blue babies for me.  I don't mind that though.  What I do mind is abandoning the whole series foundation of success in the last hours.

Jim got it wrong - because Jim thinks that fans turn when things go wrong.  No - Star Wars fans still love Star Wars - they still saw the new films (Those films were still wildly popular,) and they didn't boycott the 3D reincarnation (Again, Wildly popular) - they just give Lucas "Disappoint Face" and move on to consuming more Star Wars products.  We Mass Effect fans would have done the same thing if there had been a good ending to the epic trilogy.  We would have said "Oh Tali's face - that's a disappointment, but man the whole game was so good!"  or we would have said  "Kai Leng kind of sucks, but whatever, TIM and the end of the game are awesome!"  but instead we get to say "Who wrote this ending and why does it take everything we love about Mass Effect and throw it into the wood chipper?"

Jim Sterling's kinda a tool, details at 11!

Yes.

To explain. Suppliers drop the price of games when they stop selling, or if they don't feel that the title will sell.
For a game that has been out for only 2 weeks (less in many places) to show any such drop in price - and it is a consistant drop practically since the release - indicates that there is a serious problem with selling the game. For this to be the case with Mass Effect 3, with all the hype and marketing it has been given, is significant. It would appear to show that disatisfaction with the game is widespread.

The last time I can think of this happened was with DA2, and that game didn't get anything like the same amount of controversy as ME3 is getting...or any significant media attention.

REMINDER.

Since I've seen no other mention of this yet, I'm posting this again:

pay.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/r20p0/lets_get_retakeme3_trending_on_twitter_monday/

It's a campaign to make the #RetakeME3 tag trend on twitter at 20.00 GMT today, to raise awareness. What do you guys think? Anyone here doing this?

20:00 GMT is in 2 hours time for anyone not from the UK. So if you have a twitter get on there so we can get it trending and get some more exposure.

Amazon do price matching a lot as well, and I assume other big online etailers do so as well. So if one drops the price, others will follow.

From the Retake FB page, the following is a private message between the guy running the FB page and the guy who filed the FTC complaint. Bioware FTC guy is NOT the majority of us and it's not how we want to resolve this with you, you're listening, we're talking and hopefully you'll start talking to us soon. That's the right way to go about this business.

I just received a message from the person that originally filled the FTC complain, and asked others to do the same.

I'm not in the business of sharing the private messages people send to me, but I have to make an exception for this.

Here is his message:

"Hi. I'm the guy who first filed an FTC complaint (there are a lot of
others now). I just wanted to say that I fully support the movement and
was in no way trying to make it look bad. I knew that my move would be
controversial, but that it would be a net PR gain for the movement if
the story went viral, which it did. It wasn't done as an "attack" on
bioware or anything of the sort; at best, the FTC would give them a slap
on the wrist fine. The important thing was that it would keep the
controversy in the media cycle, and that folks outside the gaming
community actually know what the FTC is and what it's for and the fact
that people filed complaints against EA carries weight. I just wanted to
let you know that, since I know some thought I was trying to attack
bioware or that it was a lawsuit or something; it's nothing of the sort.
I'm on your side and this was my way of holding the line. Good luck to
all of us, and remember Marauder Shields!"

Message Ends.

My response:

Your effort to keep the Retake movement in the spotlight has succeeded.
Many people were were on the wire about the movement have now decided
we are a bunch of arrogant, selfish gamers that are lashing out because
we don't know how to act constructively.

Your move to file
with the FTC has received universally negative reactions, and had undone
much of the good the movement has managed to do, and has added a
permanent blemish to our record.

You have managed to create infighting among the #RetakeMassEffect movement when we need as much cohesion as possible.

You have shown Bioware and EA that we are not responsible enough to be
communicated with as we will just attack them blindly. They have no
reason to offer a dialogue with us if they believe that we are going to
attack them out right.

The Retake movement is a movement of gamers united in the attempt to get the ending that the Mass Effect series deserves.

We are not here to launch legal campaigns and make enemies out of the only entities that can help us achieve our goals.

If you wish to continue your FTC suit please do so elsewhere, and
please make every attempt to distance yourself from the
#RetakeMassEffect movement.

Sorry having a dumb moment right now. This is a campaign against us?

Apparently they are trying to make people associate us with that one guy who went to FTC thus painting us in... less than flattering light. Apparently they also have removed any comments trying to state otherwise and/or comments about the crappiness of the endings.

SMH. It's always something it seems. Well to only way to counter that is to keep up what we are doing here. We still respect Bioware but know they are better than this and want nothing more than for them to prove it.
Come on all  they have to do is look at DA:O  Heck they can look at the first two Mass Effect games for clues and insight.
I do hope this FTC burns out though. I understand that person is frustrated, we all are but we are proving our point in the most respectful, decent , calm, way as fans of the game possible.
That's bad line holding. We should have a time out line.

Guys, im loving what we're trying to do here. I just hope that if the next DLC they release has nothing to do with post ME3, then people will boycott it otherwise this whole movement will be for nothing.

Hold the Line!

The next DLC is likely to be a MP DLC - in fact I seem to recall that they have indicated as much.

Even then it doesn't mean that they will not release an ending DLC, such a thing would take sometime to put together after all.

Of course any DLC that doesn't change the ending is unlikely to sell until or unless the ending is changed first. Which is likely to be one of the things BW has to consider before making any statements.
