I am sad to say that I just beat Mass Effect 3. Upon reading several pages of posts and points to what happened I will not repeat what everyone said already. I will instead Bullet point some of my reasons I may be done with Bioware and EA.
-I felt sick to my stomach when I finished the game. None of my choices made any difference in the end. No reason for me to go back through the third game as well as the first or second one.
-We were promised that your choices would matter only to find out that all it did was give you a choice between a red, blue, and green option to destroy the galaxy (Blown up relays mean either obliterated systems or collapse of whats left of galactic civilization.)
-Alien Races that you recruited are royally screwed over in the sol system. Most are going to die Quarians (My Favorite Race) most likely go extinct no matter what which does actually make me sad since i took great care in helping them survive.
-Also like many people said already, The Krogan are going to end up eating everyone.
-I was looking forward to buying DLC, Hats, Shirts, Epic movies, All novels and other Random crap I could not live without. I would have been one of the most rabid fanboys out there fighting for Bioware and the masterpiece they could have produced. Now I Feel betrayed that this happened. I can only hope that something is done about the ending to reflect the choices that we made. Hundreds (nearly 600 In my case) of hours for nothing.
- I used to love watching the cinematic trailers for ME3. Now I find myself avoiding them with so many others.
-The Deus Ex Machina with Magic Space boy practicing space magic was horrible. If it was meant as a real ending then it was poorly written and filled with plot holes. (Assuming the Indoctrination theory is incorrect)
-Just to be clear I loved 99% of the game even the cheap Photoshop job for Tali's face I was able to forgive (Since now i knew what my LI looked like.)
-I have much respect for Bioware for trying to put out an epic game but I cannot get over the fumbling they did in the last 10 min.
- My suggestions to Bioware would be to do everything you can to make it right with your (Formerly) Fanatic followers. If you break even with a DLC patching the end it will bring the vast majority of us back and secure a lot more revenue from your core fan base. Hell we would be free, fan driven advertisement machines instead of walking and talking anti-Bioware mobs that most likely will plague every public event you guys throw for years to come.
From what I have been reading all we want ( What I want) is to see endings based on what we did. I wanted an ending where I can screw everything over. An ending where everything was fairies and pixie dust. Bittersweet. ect. As well as knowing what happened to your friends depending on your choices.
-Finally it would have been cool if you could have assigned specialists in the last mission, and it would have been super cool if we could have dictated how to use the war assets we acquired.
I Really, Really, Really Wanted to send the Volus Bombing fleet against something. Something funny about bowling ball shaped critters bombing the hell out of something. STRIKE!
And I would have loved to see Rachni Tear up a Reaper Capital ship.
- We fell in love with the RPG for what it gave us. And that was taken away from us in ME3
-Insane_Ivan
Jeez. My letter will be huge, at this rate.
Your post, like others before yours, include valuable points of reason and statements I would like to include in my masterwork letter to Bioware and dozens of other influential people.
May I use some of your work? (I always ask as a matter of politeness because I always hated when people plagiarized my own writing.)
I don't mind at all, hell if you want I'll write you a highly descriptive letter of why I dislike this ending. haha

Where is c-sec in the citadel? we barely lasted a day before we attacked the citadel.. impossible that the citadel fell in 24 hours.
Where are the krogan/geth/rachni/harbinger/ and my option to tear the last one a new inky hole just for inks?.

While I fully agree that game developers have the right to decide how their story should end, the end of Mass Effect 3 wasn't an end. Sure, Shepard is (or almost is) dead, but what about the rest of the galaxy? There was no end. And the "end" that the writers have come up with goes against their whole series and the idea of player's choice.

Wasn't a good move of IGN to defend the endings as they may lose some of their reputation with the users. If they ever had any.

"I still remember how I personally felt with absolute clarity: I was giddy and actually shaking with excitement! Few things could induce this peculiar state in myself and other gamers, but the release of the Epic Sci-Fi Video Game called Mass Effect 3 was most certainly one of those rare treasured moments.
All other worries and thoughts about my life were rudely shoved haphazardly into a corner of my mind. Like a child on Christmas morning, I bounced with excitement as I tore off the plastic wrappings of my new copy of the game.
Eagerly, and still fumbling with anticipation, I began playing. To explain each nuance and the subtle reactions of feeling over the entire game's course would take too long to write, so I have created a graph of the results:"

- You have the machine of alien design you are building from schematics.
- It is a major effort and brings everyone together.
- Nobody knows exactly how it will work
- In the end it leaves everyone wondering as to what exactly happened.
- You have the alien in the movie somewhat similar to the "child" being an alien taking on a familiar form for the human character at the very end.
Both the movie and the end of ME3 leave you very confused as to what happened.

....They dont have the right... they get paid to appeal to a large audience. Id they dont they loose money.
It is a tug of war. As a writer you have power until you start middle fingering your audience. Movies have director's cuts, different endings, remakes because it didn't target the largest possible audience. Why do you think with two weeks, ME3 has droped nearly 4 dollars... Skyrim is still the same price in some places, although in others it has dropped. Which I finally get.
But aside from everything, aside from all the ontrovery non closure whatever.
Just tell me this.
The citadel released an energy burts to do something. Ok we get it.
But we also played Arrival... and is a simply equation to those who didn't.
Mass relay+Mass relay explosion=complete and utter destruction of anything in that solar system. Regardless. Yes the relay... relayed (lol pun intended) the energy burst... but the relay overloaded... meaning it exploded...... which... I mean it exploded... boom, kaput., kapow... poowooshhhhhhhh. As in every single object living or not in eevery region with ANY mass relay, meaning every corner of the galaxy is now wiped out.
YES the innitial energy burst cleanse the reapers, or it made them leave w/e...
What is the point of the reapers "jumping off into X" when seconds later the relay exploded which would turn the entire system to ash.
Example:
You fought, you saved... you finally did it. And then someone detonates a nuke right on the horizon...
One of the greatest middle fingers ever.
Some might argue "it was a different, explosion, the relays didn't explode they just broke apart"... really? there is a difference between a gas tank being lit up from a bullet, or from an inside spark? not the perfect analogy but still, either one releases a somewhat pleasant fireball.
