Looks like bioware have 3 options now:

#1 If they release a PAYED ending related  dlc ----------------------------------Gain lots of money/Loose 50% of fanbase loyalty and respect.
#2 If they release a FREE ending related  dlc-------------------------------------Losse lots of money/keep 90% of fanbase loyalty and respect.
#3 if they don't release any ending related dlc------------------------------------Don't loose or gain any money/Loose 90% of fanbase loyalty and respect.

I think that they may be operating on a sovereign mentality.  "Mass Effect exists because we allow it, it will end (in a terrible way) because we demand it!"

Apologies if this is a repost.

Still a better ending than what we got in ME3.

You forgot Option 4: Have random staff members poke us with twitter sticks hoping we'll explode like rachni pods.

Ah.  Yeah, that was what I meant.  Didn't make the connection between my 7th and Pearl Harbor's 7th.

Too many 7s.

But hey-----it would also be one of the most memorable, wouldn't it?

I don't think opened games are refundable anyhow (are they?).
As I said, I'll just sell mine for $0.01. I know I'll never touch it again.

I don't think I could bring myself to return it to be honest, I mean I am pretty sure the place I bought it from would be happy to refund it. I just won't do that, I loved ME3 it was just the nonsensical ending I loathed

Thing is, this is why we as consumers have no power over companies that keep selling us crap.

We, as a society today have no clue how to go without.  None.  Nadda.  Zip.

We are so used to having everything, right at our fingertips, all the time and whenever we want it.

We buy things without any thought as to the industries we are supporting, like ones that ship incomplete or totally buggy games.

If you want to send a message as a consumer, you've got to sacrifice, and sacrifice big over the long haul, and sadly, no one is really willing to do it in the numbers needed to effect real change in the world.

We've got the most powerful weapon, but not enough people willing to do without to use it.

Yea i'd return my game if i could, but lets face it, we had no reason to expect anything was going wrong with the mass effect series other than MP is going to be using up some disk space and might dampen our SP experience.

so this isn't a simple, cut and dried win/win.  and we the consumers are not the only people in the mix.  plus, because the polls are less than scientifically accurate they have to be trying to figure out which is going to cost them the least in the long run.

lol Shhhh...you're ruining the element of surprise!

Personally I want to see a Big Bang Theory (preferably Sheldon) reaction to it.

Each of the 4 would have differing reactions:

Howard would bemoan not getting to sleep with Liara again (or maybe he would femshep LI Traynor, yes, this is more likely)
Rajesh would complain that if the combined might of the galaxy wasn't good enough, what was the point.
Sheldon would pick holes in every single bit of physics available and declare that the entire ending was scientifically unsound even within canon
Leonard would feels sad that everything he had achieved, uniting and healing etc was thrown out of the window.

And of course Penny would not understand and like the ending because there were lots of pretty shiny colours.

Okay so they don't have to admit there is a problem. They can still call us complaing whining bastards, but make an ending to "appease the fans." EA/Bioware doesn't have a lot of options right now. I understand none of them are exactly in their best interests either. They need to make a choice soon though. This is going to hit them hard if they keep up with whats going on.

that very well could be the strategy.  continue to treat us like children in the press and in the general interaction with us and then eventually say "we love our fans so much that we're giving in", kind of like a long suffereing parent with a spoiled brat.  but it hasn't been very long, only a few days.

these are their choices:
1. don't produce anythin, wait us out, we'll get tired, go away, whatever.
2. treat us like children, eventually we'll get tired, go away.
3. treat s like children, then give in while never admitting to any wrong doing
4. giving in and admittin wrong doing.

In choices 3 and 4, creating new content is going to cost them money.  The employee has to be paid even if the employee is at fault.  So have you thought about the P.R. nightmare if they give and then charge us for the content?  Even if they don't admit any fault, they will still not come out of that keeping their pristine p.r. image.  no, the best thing is to try to make us go away.

This also does not affect just EA/Bioware.  As soon as they create new content it is probably going o affect the relationship between the major reviewers and the game makers.  To make new content will be to say there was something wrong with the game and the reviewers did not catch it.

This is all just my opinion, however, strategic management was one of my favorite and better classes at university.

Understandable BUT remember the long term affects of this. Word of mouth is very important. I think if they don't fix this then this will hurt them badly. Many people on this forum at least are very willing to pay for content. I am one of them. I just don't think the whole "watch, and wait," thing will work this time. The reason why is because they hyped this up for so long. Then you must remember ME1, and 2. People honestly thought they would get closure. I don't think any option will work out to it's best, but one is obviously better than the other.

It all makes sense now... they don't want to pick an ending because they know how it'll turn out, and they'll all be depressed for a month... too bad we didn't have that opportunity :(

I'm sure they are looking at this, and going: "Who the hell are you to feel PROUD OF something you haven't created?"

And they would be right. I really can't make sense of that line.

We may be proud of ourselves as fans, or whatever, but to be 'proud of' the game itself.....come on....

They themselves have said; we didn't create this by ourselves - the we've cocreated with the fans - if it wasn't for the fans no Liara DLC for ME2 - wasn't for the fans - no Garrus or Tali love interest in ME2......

This is all of our baby -
